Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing (for my eZuma project)

...I'm sure you'll find something else to upgrade. Well, I'd like to repaint it -- something like Ferrari red. And in two years I'll likely add a bigger battery and stronger BMS. I'd also like to sculpt the seat and recover it in brown leatherette. But high on the list will be solar panels to keep ...

Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing (for my eZuma project)

so, you replaced everything then. Yup. Ultimately cheaper that way given that the donor bike was a bargain. And in the end I not only learned a lot, but I got exactly what I wanted. M P.S. I sold the original 2000W motor + controller for half of what I paid for the whole donor bike. And I...

Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing (for my eZuma project)

11 months later... As a recap, I picked up this pathetic Boom 72V AGM 2000W Chinese Zuma clone back in September 2018 from Craigslist on the cheap. While it was only one year old at the time, the owner had abused the bike royally, but I didn't care as I had other plans. Eleven months later with a bu...

APT AE96600 controller + Bluetooth module

For those of you considering adding either a Cycle Analyst or PowerVelocity Bluetooth module to the mix, here is the wiring you'll want for your APT AE96600 controller. Note: this is what I am currently using on my eZuma scooter/motorcycle and the PV iPhone app works like a charm. Note that you cann...

And here she is mostly all buttoned up. Rides like a dream. 60+ mph on flats (much more than I need, btw). 50 mph up hills, 50-60 mile range depending on how I ride her. In the future, with a 150% bigger battery, I should be able to get 75-90 mile range. But that is at least two years off. In the me...

Re: DC to DC converter have 3 wires for 48V+

For 90% of the cheap Chinese DC-DC converters out there, they all seem to follow the same pattern: Red is 48V power (in) Yellow is 12V power (out) Black is common ground (i.e. ground for both 48V and 12V) If you want it on all the time, just wire the red up to your battery. If you want it on some of...

Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing (for my eZuma project)

So I finally finished all the main wiring into and out of the junction box as well as tidying up the plastic panels to accommodate it and I think it looks pretty good. Lots of other tweaks here and there, too numerous to recount here, not the least of which was repairing some of the broken plastic t...

Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing

I found some really cool stuff for those of you who want to modify the plastic components on your bikes. It is called Apoxie (see: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005J03Q5W/ ) and it is available in either white or black. I found this product is great for reinforcing broken plastic and/or shaping...

Re: Legit electric motor technology breakthrough?

Pretty obvious from their videos and marketing materials that their initial market will be "upscale" -- i.e. military, industrial, aeronautics, and certain construction technologies where there would be a premium for fail-safe operation. I can't see them moving downscale anytime soon.

edit:if you want a huge brick then it might be acceptable but i think there are better options out there. Edit: if you have an eBike and expect such a huge brick (and I mean huge -- the damn thing weighs 16.4lbs/7.4kilos) to somehow magically fit on your eBike, then I want what you are smoking! :P M

Re: Do I get a prize for the most obscure diagnosis ever?

If your scoot has the lights permanently on as most do these days, try a test ride with the tail light globe removed or tail light wires unplugged. A bad earth allows 12v to feed through the tail light filament back out through the brake light filament to the controller, holding the brake lead high...

Re: AliExpress battery pack unboxing

Spent the afternoon re-wiring the junction box to accommodate the new panel. Along the way I added some (long overdue) waterproof glands. Unfortunately, the re-wiring dictates that I need one more M32 nylon gland, of which I have nothing available. As such, I have to "hard wire" the primary circuits...

The P.V. is 18fet and QS is 24fet. My guess. Good luck and keep up with your pack. The PowerVelocity I had was 24fet as per their website: http://powervelocity.com/home/58-24f-15kw-sinewavesilent-controller-android-ios-bluetooth-programmable.html I might add: some 12fet controllers can handle more ...

Once you've got the water out, I'd recommend filling any space that has exposed conductors with dielectric grease. Connectors, inside the brake switches themselves if they're not waterproof, etc. The grease shoudln't cause any mechanical problems, and it will keep water out so the problem cant' ari...
