Karts are an aerodynamic brick !...anything above 30mph pumps power into the wind.
You could reduce that time, and increase top speed if you just tilted the seat back to a “laydown” position.

I hope you aren't trying to say there's anything wrong with Winstons / Thundersky? There is nothing “wrong” with flooded lead acid either,...for some applications ... such as car starter battery. Its a “horses for courses” situation ! But, Winstons or Thundersky in the context of ebikes, .. they ar...

I haven't heard why investors are avoiding Rivian right now. Maybe a weak quarterly report? Ford selling off their major shareholding in Rivian , probably did not help ! Several for sale right now... if you have the money. https://www.cars.com/shopping/results/?makes[]=rivian Most reviews I've seen...

Re: Tsdz2 on strange bottom bracket
.note the wall thickness around the bottom bracket cannot be over 8mm (only an issue on some custom or carbon booms),... From that statement, it looks like you would need a customised excentric sleeve, ( maximum offset, ) to get the Tsdz2 spindle as close as possible ..3mm or less.. to the bb shell...

Re: Ideal Household Electrical Standards?
For the people saying 100v DC is still quite dangerous, maybe you're right. Does anyone here think 48v DC would be low enough to be considered safe when accidental contact happens? Of course wiring a house exclusively for 48v would use much more copper than currently, maybe prohibitively so. Some c...

There will be no noticeable change in performance from that 0.8 volt increase of pack voltage,..but you will likely seriously reduce the...

Re: Options for powering a 12' ultralight catamaran
Most of the stock trolling motors are designed around a “ trolling” spec use. That means they are optimised for low speed use on mono hull fishing boats, often with compromised “weed release” prop designs People do use them for other uses, but to get the best efficiency/ speed for something like a s...

Perhaps you need to see an eye doctor. Could it be that you’re color blind not only to green , but also to red (DDs red-letter comments). You never responded to portions of his post directed to your comment(s). We obviously have a terminology/ language problem here There was nothing in DDs red comm...

You need to be realistic and aware of retail pricing for similar cells....<$200/kWh...pre assembled, with warranty.

Re: Ebikes don't like going underwater!
Never mind 7 m wide....how deep was it ? Assume you have removed and dried the battery ? Some electrical fault tracing skills are needed. That should be easy to check with a MMeter etc to see if it is still charging or a fuse is blown. Most likely you have drowned the controller in the base of the b...

.Is my figuring improving ? No ! You are still thinking that cell capacity and voltage have a linear relationship ( straight line graph)... when they dont. And you dont seem to read replies . Why dont you just stick to using the data from Molicel ? Your 14s 9p example would have 1,953 Wh ( 126 cell...

Re: LMP “solid state” EV battery cells ?
Thanks for the link AW.. Yes there are many ways for an EV fire to start, but Bollore specificly state these cells will not burn and are immune from thermal runaway. I think that video suggests otherwise. Incidentally, 2 more similar buses have also burned in Paris since the one in the video, and th...

Re: More Power, Capacity and Less Expensive (21700)
Using Molicel’s data from their spec sheet, each cell has a “typical” capacity of 15.5 Wh. So a pack using 196 cells ( of any configuration ) will have ..15.5 x 196 = 3038 Wh (3.038 kWh) BUT, the usable capacity will depend on what charge voltage is used , and what LVC is set . And at $980 cost, is ...

LMP “solid state” EV battery cells ?
A recent spate of electric bus fires in Paris, Europe, has brought to attention the battery tech used on those vehicles. https://www.lemonde.fr/en/france/article/2022/04/29/paris-suspends-electric-bus-fleet-after-two-fires_5981956_7.html The vehicles are made by “Blue Bus” by the Bollore company and...
