Hey where are you getting these big power LEDs? digikey.com - their search methods leave a bit to be desired but you can filter by lumen output, forward voltage, name brand, color, etc. I bought one from Seoul Semiconductor, think it was rated for 800 lumens and it's flat out insane. What sort of beam pattern are you looking for from the headlight? Bridgelux makes a single LED emitter with 8,000 lumen output (steady, not maximum) *muwahahahaha* but given the light source is 48mm diameter, it's more of a flood type than a spot. I haven't checked the details on their use in boats, but it's more likely the water is "pumped" through the system using thrust off the propeller, than convection. This is how personal watercraft are setup for cooling, where a fitting is built into the wall of the jet pump housing and it scavanges a...
