Re: Hub motor recommendation?

...210lbs. The hub will be put inside a 15" diameter wheel with a 8" diameter rim so must be smaller than 7" or so. ... Your small rim diameter vs wheel size, makes me think it is fat tire and may be 200mm wide rear triangle. If then... Buy a scooter wheel (rim on the motor). That is your best choi...

Re: DNM burner rcp-2s spring

There is a number punched on the spring. Ex.: .550 2.75 The first number is spring weight (lbs required to compress one inch), the second is the travel. Once you know the spring weight and travel that you need, you can buy the spring used or new, steel or titanium. I would first check for used ones ...

Re: Opinions on Slime (or similar products)?

Nothing is better than a tubeless tire with a Cush Core insert and 6oz of slime. You can ride it as low PSI as you want, it does keep seated on the rim if you ride it on a flat. Fix a flat in seconds with the wheel on the bike, only needing a tubeless plug kit. And, it does ride better, less bouncy ...

Re: QS 205

The MXUS 3kw is built better than a QS 205 though, but the heavier QS 205 can shed more heat, thus can be fed more power. can you add more details about why you like the mxus build please, im curious :D i only have an old pressed steel stator v2mxus, im not that impressed by it.. I see. I was talki...

Re: Opinions on Slime (or similar products)?

Here's an example of one of the unintended consequences of Slime in a bicycle tube: IMG_20190613_165358.jpg Glycol ooze has compromised the adhesion between the brass valve body and the rubber tube. This failure is less common than Slime clogging or fouling the valve, but I've seen it many times. W...

Re: QS 205

I believe MXUS is offering only one version of 3T winding. It is their fastest motor but I don’t know its Kv. All I know is that I leave it in the dust with my commuter that has a QS 205, not even the fastest Kv QS does make. The MXUS 3kw is built better than a QS 205 though, but the heavier QS 205 ...

I don’t know the kv of your mxus, but the Qs205 50H is available 17.7 kv, making 1275 RPM at 72v. It will run with any sinewave controller.

Re: Lower back pain and bikes

Back pain from riding a bike, is caused by improper size and/or cockpit adjustments. People don’t realize that bikes need to be set to their personal dimensions, according to terrain and riding style. Then, once it is set properly, you still can experience pain for a while if you are not used to spe...

Re: QS-205 5000W kit Error 30H

If you have a comm error with the display, you’d better try running the motor with the display unplugged. Too bad you don’t have any other comm options (bluetooth or RS232), because the controller may need to be set in the program. There has to be a switching circuit, a wire that powers the controll...

Re: QS-205 5000W kit Error 30H

You don’t need a display to test the motor running. Plug only what is needed to run the motor. Controller to battery, switching circuit ON, controller halls and phases to the motor, and a throttle. Now, if it doesn’t turn when twisting the throttle and you have no testing facilities, try changing th...

Re: old motors inefficient?

Overheating does affect motor efficiency, cooking the varnish and wires insulation, as well as weakening the magnets. Time and mileage, are wearing the bearings. So yes, an old motor can have a poor efficiency. Batteries are losing some of their capacity with usage. That is the major cause of range ...

That is a lot of assembly. I would use big prismatic cells and build a simple battery with minimal connections.

The law is not a problem when you are not looking for troubles. The police have a lot to do and bikes are not a priority, but when they want you off the streets there is enough laws to find a reason.

Re: Changing pedal distance on cranks

Someone 5 ft tall shoud have 150mm crank arms. Actually, it is much easier to find in square taper cranks. Yet, to of the line spider cranks can be ordered the size you need. Drilling crank arms is OK if you can do it precise, and the arms are pretty straight thickness. Insert a long bolt in the act...

Re: Illegal bike confiscation possibilities by police not up to date on newer laws

I just searched to see what the Urb-e looks like. I have seen a similar folder called A-bike, that has a functional crank. In most places I know, a bike that has no functional pedals would not qualify as bicycle nor ebike. It is a scooter IMO, but most regions of North America will let you ride it w...

Freedom comes with pedals, and using them. No matter it is fake pedaling and you ride fast. A spinning crank is enough to make the psychological illusion.

Re: Motor getting hot

Most 72v controllers can be fed 100v, sometimes they need changing the capacitors. If you run 20s you are perfectly safe, 24s is possible but you may have to do slight mods. The reasons for a motor to overheat are so many, that you would have to list a complete description of your bike and its usage...

Re: Looking for full suspension fat bike with bafang mid drive (and narrow Q-factor)

Not sure I would go FS, building a fat bike. Or, I would mod a DH swing arm to 4’’ and use a monster T fork. . . . https://cdn.bike24.net/i/p/1/3/214731_00_c.jpg?v1219d6b738210bd15712dcf330547b08688e9fab The Salsa fs frame is good to build IMO, when you don’t want to do any mods. If you can’t measure and face a brake mounting bracket with the tools that you have, many bike shops have a brake mount facing tool set and will do the brake alignment job for you. I make and fit them custom brake mounts with hand tools, so never considered machine shops or bike shops for this simpl...

Yep. Bionix is dead, and because their systems were propritary, their resale value is going down very fast.

The market for used ebikes is not very good already, so you are likely to take a big loss on this one.
