Anyone Used an MP15470 Motor?

Came across the MP154 series motors last night and despite clearly overrated specs, it is an interesting motor due to some packaging constraints I have. Curious to see if anyone has experience with them. https://frchobby.en.alibaba.com/product/60534101909-811433165/MP_15470_35KW_Outrunner_brushless_...

Interesting. I wasn't aware that there ended up being more than the first two. Well at least we know there are three! Thanks for responding.

Re: Can any FOC or sinewave sensorless controller handle an astro 3220?

Astros are usually 8 poles / 4 pole pairs. They have that info on their site. Mine is 8 poles / 4 pole pairs. Continuous wattage thru an astro enters the territory of unbelievable but they need active cooling. Water cooling the case is supposed to be best. Yes the BAC2000 will spin in excess of 10K...

Thank you for the link, but it seems to be dead.

Thanks for the offer on the brain boards! If we do end up needing one, just shoot me an invoice on paypal and I'll take care of it immediately.

BAC2000 sees my astro 3230 (yes) inductance / resistance as 10 uh / mohms respectively. It can spin that thing really, really fast.
3230? I thought there were only 2? I have one and last I heard, the other wasn't for sale.

Re: My1020 / Kunray / YaLU 1000 - 2000W motor ?

Hmm. How much would you say could be shaven off this motor to make it shorter ? There is only so much space left between bike cranks. Also how would you go about machining another rotor? Seems a lot of trouble for little gain. I'll have to disassemble and measure, but will get back to you on that. ...

Re: My1020 / Kunray / YaLU 1000 - 2000W motor ?

Ubercool, thanks a lot. Copper fill seems not bad at all. On the other hand, it looks like a pretty tight fit. No chance to trim the 124mm version of this motor to around 100mm. Well, that settles it. The rotor seems rather long but tiny. Smaller dia. than the bbshd. Only 6 poles. That explains the...

Re: My1020 / Kunray / YaLU 1000 - 2000W motor ?

Interesting feedback. Do you happen to have some pictures ? 7500RPM is alot though  I'd need to halve it at least to get something useful. That's why I was talking WYE/Delta hack or rewind; not to get more power per weight, but better efficiency at 14s and a medium reduction. Currently looki...

Re: My1020 / Kunray / YaLU 1000 - 2000W motor ?

Running one of these on a Razor kid's toy operating at 60V nominal and around 150-160 phase amps and around 120 battery amps. Cheap, relatively heavy, but not bad! We've beat and beat on it and gotten it quite hot (boiling water) with no noticeable degradation to the enamel. I am pretty sure it can ...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

No trouble, thank you for all you've done already!

I've contacted Lebowski, but haven't heard back, yet. Kiwi, if you want a shot at it, I'm happy to send your way. I think we'll have to get Lebowski involved somehow, since it'll need a new dspic, but no need to have him do it all.

Re: Xie Chang/PowerVelocity/WCEC Controller Flux Weakening Tuning

Ya, good luck. I never got anywhere with that bike. I did use the controller on a mid drive and it magically worked with 20 under "Flux Weakening Level." It was inconsistent in where it came on, though.

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

That is odd, powering the 5V rail directly would not under normal circumstances cause the magic smoke to escape. If Whereswally606 can't help you can send to me, replacing the DSPIC is not a big deal but I suspect there will be some other debugging required. Thanks sir! I'll keep that in mind. I di...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

The first thing you need to do is verify you have +5V going to the brain and +15V going to the fet drivers. No +15V or +5V, both on the power board and powering pin 14 (Edit: This was also a mistake?) with 35V and using pin 21, 17, or 9 as ground. EDIT: Bad, bad, bad news bears. I've apparently kil...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Alright brain trust, tried powering up for the first time and it was a miserable failure. Tried powering up the brain board separately and saw the faintest flicker from an LED, then nothing. I can't see anything obvious as to why there'd be an issue. Anyone want to take a shot at diagnosing the pack...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

And we're done, minus our R1 and R2 that I had to order some more resistors for. I elected to go ahead and leave the board on bottom for testing, then will move it to the top later when everything is proven. I need to source some connectors for the brain board external inputs, as well. Any thoughts?...

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

More progress. Got all the components that require high heat done. Still worried I cooked something, but I guess we won't find out until I run the dang thing. I'm hoping it will go a lot more quickly now that the tough stuff is done.

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

More progress! Got current sensors and the first three fets on. Took a lot of heat, hope I didn't cook something. Also wondering if I should have bent the fet leg to sit on the plate shared by the current sensor instead of passing it through the board. Too late now, anyway.

Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

Posted this on the Facebook group. Finally got some time to work on the board again. I think I finished beefing up the high voltage path, but am open to input. Plates are around 1mm thick. Maybe more beef on the top side closer to the caps?

Re: No Valid Forward Hall Combinations

Interesting, I never considered timing to be an issue with a controller's ability to spin the motor. I've had several motors with pretty advanced timing and no major issues before now. Regardless, thanks for the lead on the reverse function! It took a little probing, but I found it and got it to wor...

No Valid Forward Hall Combinations

Here's a fun one. Controller works fine on another motor, motor works fine on another controller. I have three valid reverse hall/phase combos, but no forward. From a valid reverse combo, I swapped two phase wires and then went through the hall combinations. There is one that slightly spins, but it ...

Simple Outboard Conversion

Hey Guys! First electric project I've finished (or at least come close to finishing) in awhile. Motor is an ME0709, 1:1 chain drive to the original lower unit shaft with the original splined coupler from the gas power head's crank. It will eventually be running at ~100V nominal and 70-80A, with perf...
