Polaris EV get LiIon battery pack

This is what they should have done from the start.

Still 48V and limited as a LSV, but for off road woods riding it has all the speed it needs. Nice set of components on this unit.

Re: Polaris Ranger EV

I have attached a spreadsheet that shows my calculations for motor RPM to vehicle speed. I am trying to understand the top speed limitations for this vehicle. It has a top speed of 25 mph in High mode, 10 mph in Low mode and 15 mph in max range mode. Any ideas?

Re: Polaris Ranger EV

I am having trouble trying to post the spreadsheet, any advice on how to post a snippet from the preadsheet, or just how to format spaces between text; or post a picture that is not already on the web?

Sorry, I am a noobie

Re: Polaris Ranger EV

Actually that is one of the first things I would want to do with this vehicle is build a battery pack out of A123 Prismatic 20A/h cells. However, I believe the controller might be set to limit the speed so that the vehicle qualifies as a LSV (Low Speed vehicle). In the US LSV's are allowed on reside...

A123 Battery Modules

Looks like A123 Systems is providing modules based on the AHR32113 & AMP20 cells. Looks like they did a good job incorporating cooling, BMS & interconnects. As usual, we need not apply. It appears that they are providing these as development platforms for EV manufacturers. Does anybody know where to...

All your series interconnections are additive, if you have parallel segments within the series you will have to calculate them as the sum of a parallel resitive circuit, then use that value in the overal series string. there are many small metal distributors on the web that can sell new copper that ...

Re: Need E-truck concept advice - newbie

This looks like a good project. Here are a couple of links that should inspire you. These guys provide detailed, step by step, reports on their conversion progress and provide the theory & calculations needed to plan for motor, controller, gearing and battery sizing. They are converting full size ca...

Pretty cool find sk8norcal. This is what its all about, each of us dreaming and building, refining and perfecting. Hats off to George, he has sparked some ideas for me, can't wait to see his next build.

Re: First EV Conversion (ATV)

My first post on the site. I am also looking at a side by side UTV project. The Polaris Ranger EV is an interesting case study. It uses a 8.3 kW ABM AC Induction motor, SEVCON GEN 4 48v controller @ 650 amps That doesn't compute. 48 times 650 is a lot more than 8300... and why would you use lead ac...

Polaris Ranger EV

The Polaris ranger EV is a side by side ATV, or UTV, with fully independant suspension front and rear. The vehicle weighs 1700 lbs and has a gasoline twin that weighs 650 lbs less. it is true on-demand 4 wheel drive. Is anyone familiar with the motor and controller used on the Polaris Ranger EV? The...
