Re: Spot Welding Copper Strips to 18650 Battery Cells

I’m doing the sandwich.... 0.1mm pure copper sheet/foil 0.2mm pure nickel x 8mm I figured this cross section should give zero “C rise” to 75-90 amps 100-140 amps with some loss to heat 160 amps max I have a 30amp BMS. 35 miles on the pack so far. Not even warm to the touch when asking 30amps. 60 Jul...

The regen is fantastic with the geared hub and variable control. I rarely need to use the actual brakes.
Thank you for your reply!!!
That’s great to hear about regen.
Do you find the 2000 watts torquie
With it being 5to1 ratio???
Pulls away quickly ???

Take care!

Re: Framed Alaskan Fat BBSHD Build Thread

How does the bike ride? Did you have to tweak things to improve the chainline? 3 2mm spacers on the right side before inserting into bottom bracket. Then 2mm shim behind the 46T stock chainring and chain line is spot on center. I have a Lekkie 42t on the way. I’m hopping that I can take 1 2 or 3 sp...

Re: Radwagon 72v GMAC Phaserunner Build

I just found out about the GMAC and I just finished my BBSHD fat build. Omg.... now I need to do another build. I love regen, but my 10 year old DD build is heavy. Question..... is the GMAC torque sensing during pedaling like a Bionix? I thought the BBSHD would be torque sensing since the cranks are...

Re: Framed Alaskan Fat BBSHD Build Thread

If your BBSHD pulls 30A and your BMS is rated at 30A also, thats cutting it close. Hopefully the BMS won't cause the controller to randomly turn off while you ride due to BMS 30A limit. To be safe I wouldve choose a BMS at least 35A, ideally 40 or 45A BMS. Otherwise you could have to feather the th...

Both sides complete! 50.6v about 3.6v a cell 14s 1.26kw 25amp/hr 1260 watts 1C 2520 watts 2C I'm learning from the past 10 years that this is very plenty for an ebike. I'll probably use 600 watts or less most days :P hmmmmm lol now I wonder if I put in the BMS that I purchased from Micah (no blue to...

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Also if you have more batteries you should try to ad one more paralel so weld current goes up to 1500-1800A and that gives you shorter pulse times what means in copper welding that more energy goes to weld and less for heating the copper around the weld. I bet you can turn down joule setting with m...

Re: Luna advanced charger

I totally understand bulk charge, but when you have a BMS, it has only so much ability to bleed. I believe some that I’ve seen are around 200miliamps. So I’m not sure if that needs to match a chargers final holding current. You want the charger to shut down once all the cells are at 4.2v and not the...
