Re: Cheap FOCer (VESC 4.12 based design)

I love you all keep it up, I deserved that for my rant. Idk what I was going for but appreciate the honest and clear responses. It's weird both times (as in including now) I'm posting after a run and a little too much endorphins/excitement in my response.

Re: Cheap VESC (VESC 4.12 redesign)

Totally agree with respect to heatsinking and routing, which makes me wonder why I was in such a preachy-towards-smd mood earlier. Hope it wasnt off base :D.

Re: Cheap VESC (VESC 4.12 redesign)

Personally I don't agree that surface mount fets are significantly more difficult to replace than To-220. Maybe harder to heatsink though. Key to surface mounts though is knowing the right technique and having the right tools. I can do a lot more at work because we have very powerful & responsive me...

Icharger 106b+ $60

Anyone interested in buying an icharger106b+? I need a charger for 8s and am seeing if I could get some money for my 106b (great 6s charger) to justify going up to a 206b (8s). Purchased from progressiveRCfor 89.99 in 2015. Used very little because most of my 6S charging is on a B6 charger, and my m...

Re: Generic-Chinese-Bluetooth-BMS-communication-protocol

I realize this will probably depend on the board, but does anyone have experience with how to manage the quiescent current draw of the bluetooth dongle? Is it tapping off the main voltage / is it protected from over discharge? How much does the dongle draw when idle? Right now my plan is just to pul...

Re: Hacking "JBLTools" Chinese Bluetooth BMS boards

In electronics usually over voltage damages them beyond repair unless they're explicitly designed to protect against it (more expensive.) I feel without knowing the details it's probably not worth repairing unless someone is confident they know how to repair it / what exactly was damaged

Re: Generic-Chinese-Bluetooth-BMS-communication-protocol

With 45-48S as my likely total cell voltage I end up feeling like it's easier to have the bms units drive relays to control power to a main contactor. I still need to work through whether the quiescent current draw will be too high as a result or if I turn on off the relay when the car us off if the...

Re: Generic-Chinese-Bluetooth-BMS-communication-protocol

I just wrote up a long thread asking people if there are any of these UART BMS units with a known protocol. I almost hit send and then decided to check again on ES....found your thread! nice work! Do you have any recommended BMS unit sellers? I also haven't had an easy time getting sellers to tell m...

Re: The Snow Joe ION18SB Snow Blower... modified..

Hey,,, sorry to bump an old thread. This is the only modified snow joe thread I could find, and I was thinking about doing the same thing. I am currently undecided whether I should just go for a 15A corded model or go for the slightly weaker and more expensive battery model knowing that I have spare...

Re: Quick Meanwell SP-series question, CC or Hiccup? Datasheet says CC, but posts seem to suggest otherwise

Thanks folks! Last second I found another 24v charger and threw a harness together for that one, hoping that it was in good condition (also wasnt used in many years.) I will try testing the sp charger again, though it appears to be hiccuping instead of going into CC mode, though it wasnt steady and ...

Quick Meanwell SP-series question, CC or Hiccup? Datasheet says CC, but posts seem to suggest otherwise

I've found a few posts on ES saying the SP-series operates in hiccup mode, and only the S-series operates in CC fold back mode. The datasheet (http://www.meanwellusa.com/productPdf.aspx?i=436#1) Says "Overload: 105 ~ 150% rated output power Protection type : Constant current limiting, recovers autom...

Re: Hacking "JBLTools" Chinese Bluetooth BMS boards

Possibly naive question, but if the protection fets aren't being used (only balance taps), is there any danger to connecting multiple boards in series? I.e, two bluetooth 16s modules connected to make up a 32S pack, for example. As far as I can tell, they should only see the voltage they're tapped a...

I don't know if the forum has a method to "follow" without posting, but I'd like to follow this thread :D. Re: 48v 11ah nos boxes of 12 cells

Do you have any more information about the cells? I'm not familiar with the cell type, sorry.

So are you selling these as 12 cells for $150 + $50 CONUS shipping?

And what material are the tabs made of?

Thanks!

Was shipping always an option? I may be misremembering this.

Mrmagics did you have a way of shipping a bank to the east coast? And do you know roughly how much that costs? For all [unlikely] or 1-3 banks [more realistic.]?

Re: Battery Bloc Battery up to 72v - $400

Hi I'm not totally clear what your capacity is. Is this a 52V, i.e, 14S battery pack with 17.5Ah? If I'm not mistaken that is 14*5 = 70 cells. But you said 100 cells, so maybe I am confused. Thanks! Also, can you list what the current capacity is on this battery bloc config? It's interesting, looks ...

That is...so appealing....I am tired of the "connection problem" I have with various DIY packs :).

If I can get a better sense of the remaining lifespan and previous condition of these cells I think I would be interested in a decent number. :) Would take a couple days to confirm all information.

Hi MrMagic! Your system looks really nice :O. I have been tempted to switch my Honda Insight over to A123 packs as the 50s Headway pack is dying and I don't feel super comfortable with most other lithium chemistries...this is a little interesting though. Re: A123 Hymotion

I feel like it would be helpful to know more about the battery condition. I minimal would probably be a voltage reading of the cells, to see if any are overdischarged too far. Even if the cell recovers, if the BMS gets disabled or something by that then it is a much worse item than if the BMS still ...
