Re: Looking to understand what happened in over-charged 6s pack

I remember reading the salt water, but I think it might still be a good idea to discharge first. The first pack I disposed like that recently, had quite a bit of corrosion on the cell tabs that I didn't discharge before tossing in the water. So atm I'm trying to get them to <2V each, then drop every...

Re: Looking to understand what happened in over-charged 6s pack

Unfortunately these are hobbyking 5ah packs that a while ago I encased in a fire retardant polypropylene sheet and doused in hot glue at the ends. So it would be relatively violent to check the tabs. I do know that the harness *once* was correct, so I think the theory of a broken tap and the medic d...

Re: Looking to understand what happened in over-charged 6s pack

I think I might understand the mechanism. This is minutes after I posted, but I was staring at this pack for like 30 minutes before I gave up and decided to post asking for halp explaining. My theory: If one of the taps is broken, then maybe it is working like this: battery medic: Cell 1 Gnd Cell 1 ...

Looking to understand what happened in over-charged 6s pack

So I left a 6s pack around 4v for a couple years in the basement. I decided a while ago and started acting recently that I need to get rid of my derelict lipo packs bc wtf am I doing with fire hazards in the basement. Most packs are ok. One pack has corroded balance wires and I cant seem to figure o...

Re: FS: 10x 2018 Leaf Modules 1.66kwh each

Tech-direct club has some G2 lots, $640/8. But i realize now that these are newer and bigger. I originally was going to say $500/module is not actually that bad, it's $300/kwhr, which isn't unheard of high price. But not really for me. Your link on the specs by the way is not accessible without an a...

Items must be listed with a price irrc forum rules. You can always put an asking price that's on the high side and say "or best offer" if you want people to make offers, but starting price saves everyone time.

Re: Kepler Bottom Bracket Friction Drive For Sale (Finally)

Hi Kin, [Kepler's response] /quote] With respect to torque to maintain engagement, I think maybe I was confused a little when I posted. At first I was observing that I could cause engagement with the back wheel off the ground, and then it wouldn't work well when I was on the bike. This made me *say...

Re: Kepler Bottom Bracket Friction Drive For Sale (Finally)

Hey Kepler, let me know if you prefer PM, but I have some questions about operating the friction drive design with a torque-simulation controller like a S06s bmsbattery controller. The main issue I'm finding is that the controller has a very gentle ramp on the torque, so in turn it doesn't really wa...

Hi, what is the price for the VESC controller? And what version is it? I don't see any listed price (forum policy is to have *some* listing price. Are you selling all 7X at once, or individually too?

I love you all keep it up, I deserved that for my rant. Idk what I was going for but appreciate the honest and clear responses. It's weird both times (as in including now) I'm posting after a run and a little too much endorphins/excitement in my response.

Totally agree with respect to heatsinking and routing, which makes me wonder why I was in such a preachy-towards-smd mood earlier. Hope it wasnt off base :D.

Re: Cheap VESC (VESC 4.12 redesign)

Personally I don't agree that surface mount fets are significantly more difficult to replace than To-220. Maybe harder to heatsink though. Key to surface mounts though is knowing the right technique and having the right tools. I can do a lot more at work because we have very powerful & responsive me...

Icharger 106b+ $60

Anyone interested in buying an icharger106b+? I need a charger for 8s and am seeing if I could get some money for my 106b (great 6s charger) to justify going up to a 206b (8s). Purchased from progressiveRCfor 89.99 in 2015. Used very little because most of my 6S charging is on a B6 charger, and my m...

Re: Generic-Chinese-Bluetooth-BMS-communication-protocol

I realize this will probably depend on the board, but does anyone have experience with how to manage the quiescent current draw of the bluetooth dongle? Is it tapping off the main voltage / is it protected from over discharge? How much does the dongle draw when idle? Right now my plan is just to pul...

Re: Hacking "JBLTools" Chinese Bluetooth BMS boards

In electronics usually over voltage damages them beyond repair unless they're explicitly designed to protect against it (more expensive.) I feel without knowing the details it's probably not worth repairing unless someone is confident they know how to repair it / what exactly was damaged

Re: Generic-Chinese-Bluetooth-BMS-communication-protocol

With 45-48S as my likely total cell voltage I end up feeling like it's easier to have the bms units drive relays to control power to a main contactor. I still need to work through whether the quiescent current draw will be too high as a result or if I turn on off the relay when the car us off if the...

That sounds quite nifty. You may want to include some links to the background of the kit development, existing example converted cars, etc.
