Re: My scooter wont run during or after rain

Do your brake levers have a small switch on them that cut power to the motor when you squeeze the brake levers? My scooter's brake switches would let water get inside them thus creating a short, and it would cut power to the motor as if the brakes were applied.

Re: Buell Fuell Flow motorcycle

why build another electric bicycle that looks like a motorcycle or scooter? 1kw battery and a 500w motor  for over 10 grand?! No thanks. the bicycle looks good but that anemic little motorcycle wannabe is super lame.

Re: 18650 spot welding -how to- ULTIMATE REPOSITORY

No I didn't but I don't see why it would not work. I went for the cheaper and a bit bulkier Leaf module route. If I had some disposable income to get a lot of quality 18650 or 20700 cells, I would be clicking the ''Order now'' button in a heartbeat.

Which Kelly do you have, the link you provided is broken. I can tell you that most of the wires used for your stock controller will not be used for the Kelly.

Re: Rieju RS3 NKD 50 (or similar) conversion

Talk to someone at QS Motors telling them in detail what you want for speed, torque and performance and they will build you the hub you need and match it to a suitable controller. Looking at the bike, if a Leaf module fits flat inside that aluminum chassis, I know how I would convert this thing. I l...

Re: Rieju RS3 NKD 50 (or similar) conversion

QS Motors make motorcycle motors in various size rims. Like this one http://www.qs-motor.com/product/17inch-8000w-in-wheel-hub-motor-v3-type-for-electric-motorcycle/ which is a 17 inch rim like the stock rear rim on the bike you linked. I don't know about where you are, but where I live, if the bike...

Re: Building a battery pack with super glue?

I made a large battery with CA glue and the wraps just tear after a short while on some of the cells, or the CA cracks and breaks apart, the only thing holding those cells was the nickle strips. I made another battery with hot glue and the wraps were not damaged but the some of the cells came apart...

As long as you don't mind a thousand-cell pack, anyway. ;) i can make you a 8500 cell battery so you can slap it under a car if you feel like it. (or just buy one from tesla) If you want to ride it and not spend all your time trouble shooting, go with Leaf modules. Re: Lets play build a battery.

If you want to ride it and not spend all your time trouble shooting, go with Leaf modules. If you don't want to ride it and prefer wrenching on it continuously and spend more money and time reworking what you built over and over again, try to build a monster battery out of little can cells.

Re: Tesla Model 3 battery teardown!

Seems to me that every EV on the market is expensive and will work well depending on where you use them. Can't be too hot or too cold outside. I still drive an ICE car because I live in Canada and a full tank of gas will give me the same amount of range whether it's really hot or really cold or any...

Re: Tesla Model 3 battery teardown!

Yeah we all know batteries are affected by cold but I still don't get this either, how can loosing close to half your range because you drive in cold climates be acceptable to so many people? Because - 1) When you need 100 miles of range max, losing half of a 300 mile range is no big deal 2) When t...

Re: Best electric scooter in the world?

You are definitely on the right track for range and performance. I like the look and design, it looks very usable in all kinds of weather with the wide front cowl and tall windscreen. Good storage space also. I suspect the price will show that you guys do not wish to sell the scooter to the masses, ...

Re: Interesting e-scooter or not? (wangye e-romantic)

For ease of use, reliability and parts/repair support, my wife prefers her gas Honda Forsa scooter (300cc) much better than my electric scooter she got to ride for a year. 125cc is good for puttering around town, 150cc will give you highway speeds but will struggle to do it, 300cc and up will give y...

John is right about QS Motors. Contact them and tell them what your expectations are and they will steer you towards a motor and controller that will suit your needs. Their 8kw 13 inch motor would be more than enough to meet your demands. They have single shaft motors with removable wheel if you wis...

Re: Anyway of making the R martins from china sold on Ali express road legal in U.S.

Your opinion on what this vehicle is meant to be doesn't really matter. Here is what I learned building a scooter looking E-bike into an electric equivalent of a 200/300cc motorcycle. (performance wise) It all depends on the way the vehicle is imported into the country. Mine was imported as a bicycl...

This looks like a lot of fun and if you get it road legal it will be practical too. I see a bunch of skinny little guys riding it in photos and videos. Can it support a 260 pound muscular Canadian? :D Can you ride it in the pouring rain, snow, mud?

Sorry to hear your charger died. Mine's been mostly fine lately despite it crashing out over concrete last September, which led to some issues (mainly switching from CC to CV mode, but nothing major). Recently, I swapped it with a buddy's EMC-2000 87.6V/20A because I thought it died (it was actuall...
