Re: Recommend a motor 5kw +

as others have said, MXUS are good options 3k or 5k (i have a 3k on my modded stealth, running ~8kw peaks with FF and hubsinks, no heat issues). QS motors are worth a look too, higher power than the MXUS's from what Ive read, but heavier too. you'll definitely want to look up 'hubsinks' and 'ferrofl...

Re: is SUR-RON overpriced/overhyped?

They should sell the sur ron frame/battery/motor only, so people wouldn't need to buy the bike with crap components, and then buy and fit some better ones. Eric has asked them afaik but they were reluctant. I would have been willing to buy the whole bike and re-build it for my requirements, if only...

Re: is SUR-RON overpriced/overhyped?

BrumBrum's LMX build above is a more refined and better ebike in all respects than a SurRon, so if it came in at less cost, then that's the way to go. Over-hyped for sure, and AFAIC over-priced too. quoting from brumbrum's build thread, in reference to the question 'how much'?: "If buying everythin...

Re: is SUR-RON overpriced/overhyped?

This cost me less to put together than a Sur-ron. About 12kg lighter and 10kw peak on 16s. Though i did have some bike parts and a CA knocking about in the garage. http://i64.tinypic.com/2zgdmx4.jpg mate, love it. if it could be registered here i'd have to consider it again... but the frame kit is ...

Re: is SUR-RON overpriced/overhyped?

I'm struggling to see a bike of similar power/range/quality that comes in at this price. LBS ebikes are limited to 250w continuous, usually around 1kw peak, and 25km'h. Instead for less/similar money I can get a road legal, 50km'h (for the road legal part) ~5kw bike with good potential for upgrades ...

hey sketch, is this you on ebay, or at least one of your resellers? https://www.ebay.com.au/usr/customcarbide?_trksid=p2047675.l2559 just rather give my money to the actual creator rather than some copycat. also would be interested in a 'shorter' version of the hubsinks with shorter fins. understand...

Hoping someone can help... this has probably been answered somewhere in teh 200 odd pages so appologies for the repitition... dusted off my old maxe (v1) and setup with a mixusv3. Working great, but only with the BMS set to OFF. soon as i turn it on any notable power makes the power shudder and BMS ...

Looks great guys, good work. If it was more up around the 4kw mark peak I'd even think about buying one, despite my history/preference of building my own :P
certainly if there's gonna be some dev kits i'll be interested too!

Re: Sn0wchyld's 12kw custom frame mid drive

Little in the way of recent progress, unfortunately. I've just bought my first house, and changed jobs. Between all that chaos this build has been put on the back burner. The good news is the new house has a much bigger workshop, so once i've finished setting it up and settling in, then i'll be back...

Re: What I wish I understood before buying my hubmotor

Don't buy a faster wind than your desired top speed or torque suffers terribly! I own two 1500w hubmotors and the 6t climbs off-road hills even at 48v that my 4t hubmotor cannot even at 72 volts and my controller overheats! My top speed with both motors is not that different at about 35 amps and 72...

Re: DB25 solderless, how glue?

i'd be inclined to use hot glue, with a heat gun or low-temperature oven to help it 'pot' well and seep in to all the gaps. That relies on the plastics being less sensitive to heat than the hot glue, but gives great results if they do.

Re: Aquiring proper 250W stickers

easiest way is to simply get some from a custom sticker printing business - thats where I got mine from. managed to fit about 30 '200w' stickers on a single bumper sticker. used some myself, sold a few, would happily send you the remaining if I had a clue where they were :P getting your own though i...

link? ive never seen qs offer the motor on its own - always as part of a package with their rear swingarm.
from memory- the motor is quite wide (too wide for practical use on a bike) but that price seems very good... too good? :P

Re: LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

how do you cool these motors with liquid? hard job? All it takes is time, tools, and money... We did it back in 2016, on the 50mm motors, but we found out the weight and complexity was not worth the improved/constant cooling rate. It sure did a big difference, but was turning our cheap motors into ...

Re: '92 Ford Escort LX, no batts $250

But, if you insist on a figure, then your 7 kWh pack would roughly give you 20 mi of range in this vehicle. Your chargers would take about 15 h to recharge, so basically you could go 20 mi every 16 h or 900 mi every 30 days. Not what I would consider a good use of time. That sounds like the attitud...

How many of you say this by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic? People who have build over 50 ebike with similar specs say that lover kv (rmp/v) hub is better from a standstill and better up to certain speed (~30km/h, ~40km/h). I say it from both. But the theory is more than...

just make sure its rated for higher temperatures - super glue can start to break down at ~80C - your wires may get much hotter than that.
