Re: Variable Regeneration Voltage Questions.

I ran a test setup without CA23 plugged in... I'm still getting a good, unvarying regen, actioning the ebrake, putting the throttle to max, else switching it to 0V, the bike cruises downhill totally regular speed, I had emailed JLE about this and he pointed out that the mode using ebrakes + (1.0V t...

Re: Variable Regeneration Voltage Questions.

I have CA23. CA3 is necessary to configure a base ebrake resistance setting. Do I need CA3 for variable regen? Can I arrange variable regen using CA23, throttle and Grinfineon 2018 48v 40A controller? How do I do it? Nope - the CA3 is not required. As the manual excerpt above details, the Grinfineo...

I am not that great with a multimeter so please bare with me I tried testing resistance first but was not getting a reading the readout stayed at 1 all the time no matter what range I had the multimeter on No problem - they are just another kind of hammer you get better at swinging with practice......

Re: ?? 100+Amp circuit breakers

It is called paraphrasing. In this case, used to draw the obvious conclusion from a large body of material evidence. And I did not characterise "the conclusion", but rather drew my own; which I'll characterise as I see fit. When you put something in quotes it's called "quoting" not paraphrasing... ...

Re: Ca3 dps in legacy mode limit problems

I had a chat with Justin about you problem and he allowed that he had seen similar issues when the CA_DP connector on the controller was not wired properly. I actually hadn't seen a wiring issue like that so never really considered it, but it would explain what you are seeing. So - where did you get...

Re: Is my frame in danger ?

I run a Mac 10T hub motor on 52V 30Amp (1560W) and use one GrinTech Rev4 torque Arm: As mentioned above, a pic of the mount would be good. With a solid mount for the TA it should be okay - but you need to realize that any failure in that single TA is going to have catastrophic frame consequences. T...

ebike Breakers and Cutoff / Main Power Switch

Sorry if this is redundant. I can't seem to find any of these on the web. Can anyone point me in the right direction please? Thnx These guys seem to cover most eventualities. Teklatik: You have a Paratrooper, do you deploy it several times a day, or rarely? In other words, how is it (putting the front wheel off and on) with that BB setup? Every day when weather is good. The brakes are no issue when reinstalling the front wheel. I have a 160 up front so it's harder to tw...

Re: cable operated hydraulic brakes

Prob the biggest advantage on hydraulic brakes is they self adjust as the pads get thinner from wear, so the lever feel is always the same until it's time for new pads. Mechanical disc can stop just as well, but takes periodic readjustment to keep from feeling mushier and mushier as the pads thin o...

Re: Ca3 dps in legacy mode limit problems

okay - 3.03 is a production release and works fine. No problem there. It really looks to me like the diode is faulty and the CA is essentially disconnected from the controller when the green wire is tied to the ThD pad. Except - there is this business about not being able to reach full power when th...

Re: Ca3 dps in legacy mode limit problems

Do I need to add a diode or something or is It built in to the Cav3. The diode is internal to the CA. You put it in play when you moved the green wire from ThO to ThD (D is for 'diode ;-)) Open the CA and check that you did not accidentally attach the green wire to the "G" GND pad next to the ThD p...

I have just done this and I am getting the same results each time .8v closed throttle and 3.5v full throttle without ca plugged in and 3.5v with ca plugged in and limit flags flashing Okay. This is strange. The limiting is not having the desired effect on the voltage but I assume the controller pow...

Re: Melting wires

Of course. And that's why I don't hold Anderson blameless when e-bikers purchase a PP45 connector thinking it should be appropriate making 45 amp connections. Of course, I don't hold the e-bikers blameless either. What blame? The PP can be used for 45A connections - as the datasheets indicate. Reme...

Re: Ca3 dps in legacy mode limit problems

Another update. I have now tested the voltage at the ca direct plug across the neg pin and green thr pin. I am seeing 0.8v closed throttle and voltage rises as I open throttle. Okay - that is correct. However, since your power is being limited, we are concerned about the voltage at full throttle as...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run

Is this something already possible with current PR software? Do you think Justin would be available to add such feature? Nope. Nope. The gear change feature is provided by the CA3 via a configurable fixed length minimum time ebrakes are applied. You can trigger it either by tapping the brake...

Re: Ca3 dps in legacy mode limit problems

Many details. Good! Speed sensor makes no difference in this case, so that part is okay. (1) I'm not sure I understand what you were saying about the 3-speed controller switch, but you need to unplug the CA and verify the controller is 100% okay before moving forward - otherwise too many variables. ...

Re: What are the differences between CAv3 and ERT controllers?

What's the main difference in this new approach? From what I could understand, you are not just able to display the inputs taken from the various components, but... First, either model can be hooked to any controller either by a special CA_DP connector on the controller or lacking that, by means of...
