WTB Chevy volt battery heaters

For those of you who have torn down volt packs, I’m looking for a couple of the heaters in the front module assembly. What have you got? What do you want for them?

Re: Cell Log 8 Breakout modules

you link is broken http://electricporsche.rwaudio.com/2012/02/a-quick-demo-of-the-cell-log-8-breakout-module/ The link works for me, can anyone else comment on if the link works for them or not? Thanks!! FYI, the BVM-8S fits nicely if removed from the case. I'm currently testing alarm functionality...

Re: JP spot welder

Mine has been going strong for years (10's of thousands of welds). Switched to a more flexible car audio power cable which makes it a bit nicer to use.
Using 3S Sinopoly 100Ah LiFePO4 cells, quite degraded from use in a car, but works VERY well.

Cell Log 8 Breakout modules

I've produced another batch of Cell Log 8 Breakout Modules, using exactly the same design as the first batch. Board dimensions are 3.4" x 7.62" (the RJ45 connector sticks out slightly past the board making a total dimension of ~7.875). The boards are fully assembled including all connectors and rela...

Have you seen a source for the CellLog's? Preferably in the EU.
I'll look at a bulk order from the manufacturer and see if it's cost effective for me to make them available with the boards.

What would everyone prefer, the 8M or 8S (logging)?

FS: Cell Log 8 Breakout Modules

Some of you may remember me from years ago, I created the cell log 8 breakout module. Due to popular request I'm doing another batch. The board is EXACTLY the same as the previous version. I had talked about possible tweaks and changes, but the old if it ain't broke don't fix it rule somewhat applie...

Re: 200km Trek build with custom aluninum battery box

Thanks for the pic chucho, I may have to look into that.
I'm starting the proper battery box for my fat bike, maybe I'll plan to wrap that one.
The current tool bag is functional but I need to work on the actual battery and box for the bike.

Re: 200km Trek build with custom aluninum battery box

Nicely done. Very well finish. No paint, or carbon-vinil ? Take care. The bikes owner liked the look of the raw brushed aluminum so much that we left it that way. Mine was built in the same style on a similar Trek and will be painted black. If he prefers the aluminum look it will just get clear coa...

Re: 200km Trek build with custom aluninum battery box

It looks super, but can the four bottle mounts in an aluminum frame handle the weight? I have no idea. I've had aluminum pannier racks break (twice, in different spots), carrying 10 lbs of battery. I assume you have the controller in the case? Colin I don't see how they would break, but I guess onl...

200km Trek build with custom aluninum battery box

It's finally done so I figured I'd show off the results. The bike is a Trek DS8.6 which is a great platform for a cruiser/commuter. Motor is a Bafang 750w mid drive kit Battery is a custom 18650 pack 14S13P using Samsung 2.6Ah cells (1.75kwh) Battery box is a custom aluminum triangle to hold the mas...

Re: JP spot welder

That's really nice, thank you for showing! That's pretty large pack too :) Thank you! I couldn't have done it this easy without your welder. Are you flying to the moon with that? The pack is huuge for such low powered motor. The range will be around 90km pedal to the metal that is. Yeah, that's for...

Re: JP spot welder

First large pack done. 14S13P, 182 cells, Samsung 2600mah, should work well with the 750w BBS02. Welder worked great and once you get the hang of it you can immediately tell if the time is too high/low when you go to different materials or when welding through two layers etc. Very happy with the wel...

Re: JP spot welder

I run two cells at 4.05V each. (Model S module, about 0.4 mOhm per cell pulse DCIR). And weld up to 0.3mm nickel I reconfigured for 3S and it works perfect. These are the reject Sinopoly cells from a car, they have high IR and some self discharge, might get away with 2S using good cells, but this g...

Re: JP spot welder

My device arrived as well, very nicely made and well designed. I think it's a little hot with 4 cells, (Sinopoly 100Ah cells) I'll probably drop down to 3 cells now that they're charged, not quite enough range on the dial on thinner material. It is nice that you have a bit of extra control by select...

Re: a123 20ah short tabs

I have a batch of similar cells and I'm having the same problem.. If the cells are cycled a few times with this "short" it eventually allows the cell to eat through the inner plastic casing and the electrolyte is then in contact with the aluminium layer of the casing, this speeds up the decay of the...

Cool - does he know that the celllogs will gradually drain certain cells tho? i think cells 1-3? is it just for diagnosis only? No, The mod inside the celllog have been done so the current drain is over all teh cells channels. He is using the RWaudio breakout board so they are powered only when he ...

Yep that's getting closer!

I've found that patience helps with finding the right dc/dc converter on ebay, so many surplus units pass through ebay it's just a matter of time till the right one comes up. (the question is are you still looking when it comes up though).

Good luck.

Re: How can I mod this watt-meter?

You can still use the originally-linked WM for your 100V+ pack, but in a way that doesnt' monitor watts or Wh or voltage quite right (yet is simple to recalculate). Put a tap for the watt meter to go in on 1/2 your pack, so that it is only reading the voltage from half of it, keeping it under the l...
