Re: bluetooth BMS?

Agniusm, I can confirm JBD-type boards do work for LiIon as well as for LiFe. Not only I am using two of them, one for 14s LiIon and the other with 17s LiFe. But when getting the 14s board by mistake I bought the LiFe version. It's only the default parameter values which are different: you just rep...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

LLT / JBD are related companies, good to start there I think. Xiaoxiang type Jiabaida Technology Dongguan Jiabaida Electronic Technology Co., Ltd. I believe SZLLT is also a relevant search string. Less sure about RJXZS. They seem to make separate units for "Li ion" as opposed to LFP, no idea about ...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

BMSs you really can't generalize, so many varieties out there from cheap Chinesium to those costing a thousand bucks. At the cheap end, most BMSs voltage setpoint parameters are hard-coded, specific to a certain chemistry and usually to high and too low to be useful, crappy balancing too. Better mo...

Is there a physical difference between lipo and lifepo4 bms versions? Possible to program lifepo4 to work on lipo cells?

Re: Xtracycle Build Log

I'm game for designing a DIY battery pack that someone can print and get components for on amazon/ebay. I'll put that project in a different build thread though, right now I'm exploring different design ideas. Someone can do that already. Snath posted how to make one and its all off the shelve part...

Re: Xtracycle Build Log

Its possible to diy but its fiddly and will end up expensive. I did my first ones diy and it was complicated. Maybe cause i needed precision. There is one good post on electric skateboatd forums that i would like to share: "So this tagline “The False Economy” is from one of the true Original Gangste...

Re: Xtracycle Build Log

yes. just looking at the NESE cell holders it looks wrong to me compared to how most packs serial connections are made. i guess the easiest way to check would be to load test the 8p group and take the temperature of cell 1p and cell 8p to see if the temperatures are the same? Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Have you thought about a single version for x amount of series groups. Would it be strong enough. It would save a lot of space and some weight. A single case still utilising the tab set would be pretty cool. Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk This was the idea when i started working on this, make ...

Considering finishing up lineup with 26650:

26650(blue) 21700(green) 18650(orange),
26650 8P is 225mm in length vs 21700 8P 184mm

Re: NESE cell holders

The path between cells is short and we use copper. To compare to standard nickel : Copper conductivity by IACS - 100%, nickel - 24% When you spotweld your nickel strip, you have good contact on the welds that are say 2mm in diameter, so 4 of them would have a total area of 12.56mm² + some which is h...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module 20% OFF WINTER SALE

Its not about flexibility but rather simplicity. I am not criticizing your existing design for that simplicity use case. I am proposing an alternative approach based on what you have already got, for a different use case oriented around flexibility. I want a say 6kWh main bank, and to be able to ro...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module 20% OFF WINTER SALE

Yes but that's just one issue Hard-wiring the parallel connections is less flexible than what I'm proposing. can't rewire to a different layout just by swapping Jboxen have to atomize the pack to check the cells individually, etc I dont know what that means. Its not about flexibility but rather sim...

I dont have anything to measure IR except icharger but that probably is as good as taking a guess. Bummer as i have spare cells from the same batch. Maybe ▲ would still be interesting even if not accurate

Re: Over-discharging lithium ion cells and the effects

According to this article, up to -12% does nothing. I am speaking on single occurances not constant use. I had brand new cells driven to 1V. I have charged them up and then discharged. They gave out 2340mah vs 2050mah declared by manufacturer. This got me into reading how it effects cells in real li...

Re: Over-discharging lithium ion cells and the effects

Without having RTFA SoC endpoints - 0% even more so than 100% are arbitrarily defined, ideally by the end-use system designer or owner, based on their use case, preferences, desired longevity vs need for range etc. Obviously the 0% isolated-at-rest point should be defined so that it's nowhere near ...

Over-discharging lithium ion cells and the effects

Found this good read on over discharging lithium cells as i recently had 1 volt accident:

I dont get it. It looks exactly like the one in photo i posted. How a link to an item would help you anyway? If you had asked pcb/bms version, manufacturing date, revision, that would be relevant. I dont think you have the answer
