Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Wow, someone did a bad job planning for cost and battery size, but it is the vendors fault. Even though all of this info is provided before hand. The foam issue was discussed and explained in this thread. Seems fine to me, so far folks seem to view easy cell replacement as a feature, not a problem....

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

It sucks that if I order these I will have to wait 10 weeks... They would definitely work for my application. I'm currently waiting on a spot welder to arrive, but that will take a similar amount of time. I'm tempted to order a Vruzend kit that I know is likely to cause many problems that these NES...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

The clip-art would be terifying for someone who is new and i would cringe myself. What matters is real life data. And i have that. The resistance of my system at extreme discharge rate is almost nothing and that is while vibrating the module. And i almost can bet that spotwelded sane amount of nick...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Contact resistance is not an issue with welding. The weld spots actually alloy together for an extremely reliable and good connection. If for some reason you are pulling unreasonably large currents from each cell, you can simply just add more weld spots. Welding with a 20ms pulse time will not dama...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Welding is not a proper way anyway. When welding, some heat gets through to cell electrolite which deteriorates cell more or less. Then you have nickel which is less conductive than copper. You cant weld 1.8mm nickel to the cell which would have equal throughoutput of my tabs not to mention contact...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

When do you think the 26650 versions will be available? What kind of current draw could I reasonably expect the modules to handle, continuous and peak? I have two packs of lightly used A123 12S4P 26650s that I obtained for a total of $100 that I want to turn into a 24S4P pack for my home built velo...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Thank you for your opinion. All tabs and bus bars are tin plated on a rack. Tin is soft material and gets marked easily. If i was to order them packed induvidualy from the factory and handled with cloth gloves it would cost even more. Have you spun cells when inserted? They have to be seated properl...

Do you reckon your 26650 modules would work with 26800 if the print was scaled?
Scaling messes up holes but i can make custom sizes in a breeze. My files are made in halfs so its just a matter of increasing extrusion. Basically any cell length will work on 18650, 21700 and 26650 sizes

Re: Best value batteries?

I suppose the bms on the more expensive 18650 packs would cut out if I tried to pull big amps from it. Not necessarily. It depends how you wire things. I stopped buying expensive big bms for high amps. Just does not make sense. Just get bms that is rated for your charge current and wire in a relay ...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

What is the recommended nozzle size for printing your modules? I really like the design. As intended, with all of the structure provided by 3d printed parts, it takes a lot of filament and printing time. One idea I have to reduce the amount of printing time is to just use 3d printed cell spacers/en...

Have not checked on this for a while. Is there a reason you have not folded tabs and bolted through the holes on the modules?

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

NESE V2 is up on thingiverse. For now only “Closed” modules, but “Vented” will be added soon.
Check print settings as they are different for V2 and play big role in rigidity.

Re: kWeld - "Next level" DIY battery spot welder

Have to confirm that the welder is brilliant. Very minor thing, but would be nice to have welded studs for input output wires(nut on top)
Welds are very good and i like the "charging" pitch audio feedback on Auto.
