Re: TIG welding battery strips

There are full scale TIGs with pulse welding that can go down very low, as low where you can weld aluminium foil. I have Kempi mastertig mls3000 and it has microtack function. I have not tried it but it would be interesting. Where would you clamp your ground? On the strip? Btw, if you have space, yo...

E-bike battery enclosures

Hi. Looking for dimensions of battery enclosures wildly sold on aliexpress. They only list external dimensions and i don't trust their manual +/-10cm measurements  I am mainly interested in enclosures with one of the dimensions equal or more than 75mm, larger ones. If someone have them and coul...

Re: A123 AMP20M1HD-A Battery pack kit

That is great :) Mine was working too until my charger broke and i had to use higher voltage one and my 3yo kid plugged it without me noticing and overcharging it. I will be rebuilding it as Lifepo4 are so solid cycling them.
Hope my new kit for cylindrical cells will do just as good :)

Re: bluetooth BMS?

I am having issues setting this bms up. My main issue is with balancing. I have 2 packs, 16S 60ah and 20s 21ah. I have left it on a charger for a week and it did not balance the pack. My upper voltage is set to 4.13 so now after a week the high cell is at 4.13 and the low is at 4.07. What settings s...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Hi All, quick question regarding dimensions if I may: The 5p 21700 module is listed as 119.4 tall. Is that the full length including terminals or just the length of the housing? Thanks Its for housing only. I have different screws to go with it so it made more sense to list them separately. Check h...

Re: A123 AMP20M1HD-A Battery pack kit

My first set of boards are no good. My holes were too close to the edges, and the nuts would obscure the slots too, as Agnisium suggested. I also masked the traces by mistake. I went with oshpark's thinner boards with heavier copper too. Which I will also not do again. Likely won't use oshpa...

Re: A123 AMP20M1HD-A Battery pack kit

I modified agniusm's 4s design for my purposes. The idea is to use broaching nuts. KFS2-832 specifically. https://www.pemnet.com/fastening_products/pdf/kdata.pdf So the holes have been widened out for the nuts. Additionally I have widened out and adjusted the traces, and increased the board size. I...

Sounds dodgy AF. Seller cant provide information on the PCM/BMS inside. I mean you should know everything about your product. No clean pictures. Is it constructed like many other Chinese brands where you can set your house on fire? Weight. 10kg +/- 1kg. Really? Manufacturer does not know the weight...

Re: Nazca Pioneer solar recumbent build

Was going through this thread couple of times and always refrained from commenting but i have to point out that using modules without the lids is not recommended and misses the design purpose. Plastic is pliable and cells make sides bow out. Lid locks the sides to mitigate this effect so cells coul...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

For anyone who is curious about what these modules could be used for besides an ebike, there are a lot of children's toy electric cars that run off of a pair of lead-acid wheelchair batteries for 24V. A seven-cell in series pack of 18650s of the same volume of the original 2S SLA PACK would run twi...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

The idea of using 3xxxx cells for a 1P pack is very appealing, but i also don't know of any decent cells in that size. I don't know of a 26650 that is worth using other than A123's cells. Offerings in the 3xxxx size are even more scant. Agnuism, it's cool you are ahead of the game by making these l...

Interesting but no 32650 or 32700 modules ... yet?
Those sizes could be bought with welded threaded studs.
That tends to double the cost of the cells
No harm in asking ... thanks for the reply.
With my kit it probably would tripple :)

Those sizes could be bought with welded threaded studs. They are too big and rare to be feasible.
I have no further plans to make any other sizes, this is it :)

Re: Guides

isenseit does not matter how many cells you connect in parallel. In nese case say you want more than 8 cells, then you connect 2 8 cell modules in parallel(positive to positive, negative to negative). Now your jar bottom tube is the same as series bus bar of the 2 modules

Thanks, it is same as I thought, but seems might be an easier less direct wat to do this. I am still in dark how the BMS cirsuits "balance" a group if the group is larger than, say 8 cells...maybe question is too basic...and I am missing somethintng. but hyou did clarify my original inten...
