Re: More than3 phases

Yeah people have claimed that 5 phases is better for eons but i haven't ever seen a dyno graph that proves it. I've seen some that prove otherwise though. I remember falco did this with a hub motor. And the thing performed less well than a crappy crystalyte of the same size. where is this imaginary...

Re: More than3 phases

yeah, you want odd number of phases, can't remember why exactly; mutual saturation i think. so the next odd multiple of 3 would be 9 phase to possibly use multiple existing 3 phase inverters. https://www.danatm4.com/blog/5-benefits-multi-phase-motors-inverters 5 Benefits of Multi Phase Motors Invert...

Interesting. BSA made a shiftable fixed/free 2 speed hub called the 'DP'. There were cables controls to both sides of the hub.
someone @BSA has a sense of humour.

Re: Would ballast disconnects be workable reusable connector?

i can't find any amp rating on that page so i don't know where that 6A number came from. however it does say the connector can accommodate up 12 AWG wire so would expect the contacts to meet the same circa 30A capacity. more of a concern for me would be that they aren't made for outdoor use. but the...

Garbage that is true. garbage is in a solid state. but that whole dyson & fiskar too... it's an ole'-fashioned space race. Fisker was originally aiming at 2023 production, but its scientists are making such rapid advances that the company is now targeting 2020. "We're actually ahead of where we exp...

yeah there's got to be more to it or there wouldn't be so many papers out there on trying to reduce it if it really was just zero sum. as a general rule of thumb, most techniques to reduce cogging are a compromise that come with some trade-off. you give up a little of something that you can live wit...

not out of the box in the least but rather ancient. first i ever heard of pulling the stator was the late 90's solar challenge that several solar car in-wheel motors sometimes incorporated. https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=16345 6_41btVawMc IIRC that's exactly what the old Tida...

ah yes, you clearly did say lbs. right in the title even. that's how ingrained it's become when reading specs. don't bother to read past the number as specs are always metric by default. the d-motor itself is actually something just under 4kg without the internal controller. only 75% more than what ...
