Re: Golden Motor HPM-10KW Motor 48V with Sevcon Gen4 Size6

Actual i try get the combination running. status quo is that the motor is running, also has power, but not at the beginning of turning. so i have to press full throttle to start, then have imideately remove to minimal throttle so that the vehicle is not going to speed up to maximum speed. You have ...

Re: 80 to 300 amp BMS upgrade

Do you know you are getting the good 3712 or the crappy one? Hooyi HY3712 IS chinese part. And I don't care if it has 30% worse Rdson than the top class part with several times higher price. The 100A BMS cost me 100$, used on 8kW 90V motorcycle and its heatsink is barely warm after a long ride. The...

Re: 80 to 300 amp BMS upgrade

You do realize that China copies everything right? I don't trust logos to mean anything. That's just a bit of silk screening or lazer etching. I didn't talked about any copies. I just pointed out that for the part name "HY3712" there are two diffent mosfets components from a two different (chinese)...

Re: 80 to 300 amp BMS upgrade

I have a datasheet for the HY3712, I'm quoting specs from it. Me too (see the link above). I'm pretty sure there are two completerly different HY3712 parts that only share the same codename. And I think even the lowend chinese manufacturers are not complete idiots to use 250V 450mOhm mosftet for th...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

The channel is fine, when I set 26s to 30s, I can see all 22 values.
I think that 22s is not divided as 11s + 11s between the AFEs, but rather 12s + 10s. I'm going to figure it out.

EDIT: OK, tested. For 22s, the first half (from the B-) has to be configured as 12s and the second half aos 10s.

Re: bluetooth BMS?

For a 22s arrangement you need to short 8 cell inputs - you have several possibilities to do this e.g. keep it symetric and short 4 cell inputs on each chip to have them configured as "11 Cells" units (check it out in the table). In your current configuration remove the short between BC7-BC8 and BC...

Re: 80 to 300 amp BMS upgrade

The mosfets on this BMS are HY3712's and are good for 250 volts, 9 amps and 450 mOhms...just awful! Are you sure? According to datasheet there http://boorzia.com/download/HY3712.pdf the HY3712 are 125V/170A with Rds(on) of 6.3mOhm. That sounds to me as an exellent choice, especially for the price. ...

Re: Is it possbile to add sin/cos encoder to the HUB?

Thank you, both. Unfortunately, the axle is a part of the startor on the HUB motor, so no way how to use chips like AS5047P. On the other side, the solution with the two linear hall sensors and the magnetic ring looks doable. The Sevcon manual says the encoder should output a single sinus (and cosin...

Is it possbile to add sin/cos encoder to the HUB?

Anyone tried to add sin/cos encoder to the standard HUB motor? It is even hypothetically possible? We have a long standing problems with the Sevcon Gen4 + QS motor (hubmotor wih halls). The problem is the Sevcon often (depending on the actual angle of the motor) misreads the halls at zero and near z...

Sevcon Gen4 directional throttle and other questions

Hi all, I have a couple of questions about the Sevcon Gen4 that are not clear from the manual: 1. It is possible to set the directional throttle for the variable regen (Vectrix style) and also as an forward/reverse throttle (when a vehicle is staying) in the same time? 2. How to properly connect a m...

Re: Open Source BMS Project

Do you plan to set up some repository for this project?
I'm going to design a single board 8s BMS for a mobility scooter around MAX14920 AFE + AVR. I'd like to make it as a contribution to opensource project rather then to reinvent a wheel. BTW, I'm skilled PCB designer and I prefer SMT components.

Thanks for the links. I like the MAX1492x, too. The balance drivers on separate pins are much better than the TI solution. I have to look closely to your BMS project.

I'm missing an Atmel Atmega16HVB and Atmega32HVB in the table. They look as a pretty solution for a nice 4 cell modular system based on a well known AVR core.

Re: How long do batteries last?

My evelo 48 volt 500 watt ebike has over 3000 miles. ... Ebike still runs well but range isn't what it used to be. First of all, tell us what battery do you have, how old is it and what type of cells are inside. While the SLA and old LiCo li-ion cells degrade pretty quickly with time, the LiFePO4 o...

Re: E-max 110s lifepo4 upgrade

The important for the phase winding is the phase current, not the battery current indicated on the CA. If you want to experiment with the higher than nominal power, install a temperature sensor directly on the winding and set the maximal allowed temperature in your controller and you are safe.

Re: ego scoota fully charged but nothing happens

54V from 4x 12V SLA looks about right. At first I would try to switch ON/OFF the circuit breaker as well as the keylock to be sure there is not a weak contact. Also check the wires leading to the circuit breaker are on place and firmly tighted.
