Ok, so are we on for this? the 24th?

What time? Any time works for me. Those with the most restrictions ought to speak up.

Re: Installing 220V in the garage to charge FASTER

I installed a 220v circuit in my basement for my table saw and a couple of other power tools. It was pretty straightforward - the most time consuming part was finding out exactly what was allowed as per my local codes. I'm from the UK and household leccy is done a bit differently over there - eg Rom...

Re: Chicago meet up

The Frank Lloyd Wright thing might be interesting. What about that strip of forest preserve about a mile west of you.....any decent trails in there? I don't know that area very well, but I stumbled on that Riverside neighborhood once - really nice, and a little surreal - it's like a rural english vi...

Re: Phase cable upgrade with magnet wire

You need to remove the varnish insulation at the ends to solder the wires together and onto your connectors etc. The baked on varnish can be very tough to get off.

Re: Chicago meet up

Dan - I'm up in Winnetka.....I've had 2 regular bikes on the rack before, but 2 heavy ebikes with motors attached etc would kill it. taking the bikes apart would be a PITA but is a possibility if the other options are limited. If I just come on my own I'll probably just put the seats down and stuff ...

Re: Chicago meet up

Lakefront trail would be cool, but I think it excludes Don - he needs to be able to get there and back to Oak Park on his limited range. This is why I suggested somewhere more to the west. I don't know about recumbents (Will) and cargo bikes (Don) on the L or Metra, but they won't go on a bus, obvio...

Chicago meet up

Ok so I thought it might be a nice idea to have a Chicago area meet up sometime before the season ends. I PM'd a bunch of people from the area (and a couple who aren't, lol) and it looks like there are at least 5 people up for it :) So let's start a thread. Here's the synopsis so far..... Me - I'm o...

you would knock back none? or shag none? There are some 150lbs ladies on there that are as fit as the proverbial butchers dog. It's great to see you exuding so much confidence after some of your recent posts, but really...... I would *love* to see you rejecting this 150lbs lady on the grounds of her...

rofl.....Morph, I know you probably don't get out much, but have you looked at any ladies that aren't on a website lately? Apart from yer Ma? Click on the link below, it will take you to a website where ladies post their weight and height etc. (not a "gentleman's" site, I promise, lol) That link is ...

Re: Pikes Peak, Electric Mountain Climbers...

A manufacturer's claimed continuous power rating is a pretty poor basis for classes of electric motorsport if you ask me. Some places rate their stuff more conservatively than others, some places need to be more conservative because their QC is not so hot, etc. a ICE motor's displacement is easily q...

I am interested in that full twist from e-bikekit also...... it looks like a bit better quality than the other full twist that I see around everywhere, can anyone who has used both types confirm this? Kingfish seemed to think it was better in this post as well, but I don't know what he was using pre...

Re: Car Door vs Ebike

I just got a job driving a 40 ft. bus for my city. The instructors were impressed with my consistency in keeping room between the bus and parked cars. They said a careless door-opener gets schooled at least once a year. Great - a bus driver who is a bike rider as well......not many of those ...

Don't be lead down the rose path and end up so foolish as to think...we have a bit more of a clue... Oh, I agree about that too - we have workable models to explain what's in the black box, but that doesn't mean we know what's in the box. But we made a lot of good stuff out of newtonian physics - s...

Re: Car Door vs Ebike

Check out the bike lanes in Berlin, Germany for an example of how to do it right. They have a lot of extra wide streets (US style) so they can have really wide sidewalks. So a lot of the bike lanes around the city are actually on the sidewalk . They tend to snake back onto the road here and there, a...

I'm with Luke on this one, and I think the major players that have shown interest feel the same.... I'm not a gambling man, but I occasionally bet on the grand national or similar, just for a laugh. Sometimes I bet on complete outsiders as well, just a quid or two. just for a laugh. Hell, once or tw...
