Snip I'm not here to waste anybody's time with romantic pseudo-science... If that part is successful too, you could power a conventional generator with this system. The first law of thermodynamics is not violated, as it is only applicable for CLOSED SYSTEMS. The closed system in this case is our wh...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC72060 Regen/Slide Problems

Having the same problem with some SVMC 72100 Sabvoton controllers. Fitted with variable regen brake connector. Will not work as expected from programming. Can't get slide regen, general ebrake regen or variable regen to work. The brake signal is active when I hold it to VBat (which is ok), 5V is not...

Re: QSMOTOR 0.5-16kW(Rated) BLDC Direct Drive Hub Motors

Just verified that the hall-sensors in my QS single-side axle hub is wrongly connected. Applying 5 V to red and gnd to black, these voltages appear when spinning wheel slowly: Green: 0 - 2.7 V Yellow: 0 - 0.6 V Blue: 0 - 0.6 V Seems like the hall sensor hookup is wrong. Need to remove sidecover to v...

Re: Sabvoton SVMC072150 controller review, variable regen *P

Got a pair of SSC 48060 controllers. Wrongly delivered without secondary 0-5V analog input for variable regen braking. New ones will be delivered, but looks like I will have to make-do with the current ones for a while. Is there any way to modulate sliding mode or regen braking? I have a microcontro...

Lacing 13G spokes into 8G/9G/10G spoke hole

Hi, Long story short. Bought motorcycle style motor, custom made. Spoke holes are Ø4,2mm in diameter. Going to lace in bicycle rim. Ordered to length 13G spokes. I want to do this somewhat the right way. Problems: 1. Spoke hole too big, nipple falls through 2. Spoke "neck" too short in comparison to...

Re: The limits of torque production for a given weight of mo

One Norwegian startup tried to get rid of the gearbox and run windmills direct drive. Part of the invention was a stator and rotor supported like a bicycle rim, with spokes. One set to hold the rotor, and one to hold the stator. Regarding air-gap fluctuations due to shifts in wind and load - the sta...

If you can test and check the rear wheel weight but the website advertises 8.8kg for the system which is good, but I think we can do better figures for rear wheel setup... Ebikes setup/em3ev battery: 1125W max pow, batt 950wh, 115Nm max, 158km@ 35% assist. 2000$ Bionx Setup : 500w max pow, batt 555...

Re: The limits of torque production for a given weight of mo

I thought it would be good to analyse a reasonably simple case - that we can swap speed for torque and keep motor weight constant. Is it not relevant as a first step? Any other discussion can carry on on the original thread...... Ok. My understanding of motor design is that power production is a fu...

.....500-600 lbs is ridiculous the leaf motor will do 250-300hp continuous and it weighs 120 lbs! Why you think you need 500-600lbs is absurd... Simple deduction, Talking Tesla.. .the motor is reported to be 350lbs, basic maths tells us a motor 3 times the dia (and only 1/3 as long) , will weigh 3 ...

Re: An ebike IS a "moped"

In Finland 1kw e-bike is not a moped. Period. It has different legal status. In terminology they are very close. 1kw e-bike is called motorized bicycle. 4kw moped is called motorbicycle. 250w e-bike is called electric-assisted bicycle. Insurance for 1kw e-bike is different. It has different price a...

Re: SAMSUNG INR18650-29E cycle test.

The cells sat in storage for 1 year before I sent them to you electricbike. If cell 4 was affected by self discharge, it would have been dead. I also checked the voltage of all cells (3,703 V) before sending them out. Possible error sources are still external temperature disturbance and the reactors...

Re: QS MOTOR 500W-16kW(Rated) BLDC In Wheel Hub Motor Index

Most likely contender is faulty wiring between controller and motor. Check and recheck phase wires and hall-signal wires. And if you don't find any fault, check again. What sinewave controller do you run? Since you mention hall-sensors I guess it's nothing fancy that will throw a fit if something is...

Re: SAMSUNG INR18650-29E cycle test.

Great to see some data! I'd be fine if you added a full 4,2 V to 2,8 V discharge every 200 cycles for cell nr 3 and 4. You mentioned that temperature is logged - any chance cell 4 is put in a draft or similar (looks to be a cyclical event on a daily basis)? If you could post some more info on your m...

I have problem to decide if i shall use INR18650-25R or maybe INR18650-29E in my packbuild. I will use 7P14S and max 20A so the single cell will only see just above 1C. If 29E have the same cyclelife as 25R at the same 1C maybe i will use 29E, less cost but if i use 25R i can uppgrade my controller...

As the 25r was designed around being a cordless power tool battery in which cycle life is of minimal importance in the cell design (as opposed to EV cells which sacrifice C-rate and some capacity in exchange for high cycle life), I'm actually amazed they cycle so well. What common cells would you r...
