Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Thanks for the info. I will have a look. I like the Wolftooth products. I am using a 104 BCD spider. The new Rebel sprocket is also a 104BCD, so I would like to stay with this mount. The smallest I've seen on a 104BCD was 30T, with the spider interfering with the chain. My SRAM chainring is having ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

The battery was custom made from 18650 Sanyo 3400Ah cells - 4S4P, fitted inside a 30mm x 50mm rectangular tube. Animalector spot welded the cells for me. He has done a great job. The biggest BMS that fitted into the tube was 40A. The battery is a bit heavy, but I wanted it to be as solid as possibl...

Metr Data

I've had the Metr working for a while now. The data is very interesting. I implemented the cruise control switch at the same time. The first surprise was that I stop and rest more often than I thought, especially when riding with friends. I was sure we stopped three times on our standard ride. Turns...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

So I took the bike for its first test run. The best part of the bike is that it still has the feel of my original bike, just a bit heavier. With this new bike if you want power you need to spin the chain ring fast to get the motor working. It reminded me of the spinning gym classes when I though pe...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

What Android app are you using? Are you able to connect with the VESC app? It is very easy to use and just works. My Metr App also connects and works, but I haven't really looked at it yet. I've done nothing special. I should have said "using the Metr app on my Android phone". I'm just planning to ...

Make sure you have set the App to ADC and UART. Also make sure you have Baud rate set to 115200.
Thanks! I had the VESC set to ADC. Changed it to ADC and UART, and now I have data. Now I need to go for a ride!

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

gladly followed this tread and I congratulate you! I know it's a single stage project but it wouldn't be possible to introduce a planetary reducer like this (there are hundreds) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32724629794.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.5914207csB0yBa&algo_pvid=948eefdc-fbc0-42cc-98...

Metr Pro Help

I just got my Metr Pro connected and communicating. I had to make a breakout cable to share ground and +3.3V with the throttle, and connect ADC to throttle only. The two LED's on the Metr board (blue & green) both blink rapidly and the (edit) Metr app on my Samsung Android (end edit) says it's "Conn...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I have finished building the Push button CCT for the ADC input to the VESC controller. Basically you can adjust the three selections (L/Middle/R) to any voltage you would like. You can also choose to hold the green button in for RUN or lock it in with the cruise button (latched). I have tested the ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Hey Bob any shots at freewheeling cranks? From a post of mine around page 9. "I did run a freewheel crank very briefly last year using parts laying around from my old Cyclone build. If you would like to try that, Sickbikeparts.com sells Freewheel cranks, a Freewheel Spider, and a Heavy Duty front f...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Your post got me motivated, so I'm going to try adding this cruise control to my throttle. I ordered a toggle switch, some diodes and a trimmer pot. Toggle switch in place of the push button. I'll probably set it around 125 watts. I believe the throttle should over-ride the cruise control. I just n...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I assume the push button would have to be something like this. Cruise control button.JPG I think that should work. I believe the ADC wire does need to be held at low voltage for closed throttle. Your post got me motivated, so I'm going to try adding this cruise control to my throttle. I ordered a t...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

So I've started the build on my 12 speed Polygon N8. It was a great suggestion from Briangv99 to use the bash guard ISCG mounts to mount the motor. I started of with the steel 80T sprocket(cheap), just for testing, but ordered the 90T Rebel Gears to keep the price down. She did not ask me again for...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

I made a shaft support with a bearing: I climbed some smaller hill (and on longer flats) the motor is heated to 65C where i set the VESC to start to cut power. It heats up too easily. Nice support. Do you notice any difference in chain noise? My aluminum support increased noise a bit, especially in...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Today i reprinted the motor mount in PLA. Took it in my hands and it felt very stiff .. stiffer than ABS for sure. http://i67.tinypic.com/2irn9yb.jpg I thought to myself: Nice, i won't have any more problem with chain become slack and climbing on the chainwheel teeth. Guess what ? i was wrong.. and...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

How could you set the limit so high ? If i set motor amps higher then 30A i get cogging at full load. I tried increasing battery amps but that didn't solve it(lowering it solves it, but then power decreases), the maximum motor current without cogging is 29A. At this level battery amps barely hit 20...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

My knees are getting worse and I would like assist without pedaling. The Shimano e8000 is pretty powerful, has reduction embedded in, Sprague clutch and everything, is just missing a throttle. There are 2 possibilities: fake the torque sensor signal or just use another controller with throttle. I'm...

Convert Motors from Delta to Wye?

Last year I was interested in converting a motor from Delta to Wye in the hope that it would work better at low RPM with limited gear reduction. I gave it a try with a notable lack of success. I did some searching and came across this post by liveforphysics which has some really good information on ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction

We are back again to reduction stages .. it seems that higher motor RPM and more reduction is the way to go. More efficient and more power. That small planetary gearbox is really needed (around 3:1) and from 13t sprocket to 78t chainwheel another 6:1. That is 18:1 in total.. and now we are running ...

6374 motor update

So I was planning to wait for the 12T sprocket before trying out the 6374 motor. Buuut.... I had an 11T sprocket just laying around. So I tried it. :D The motor bolts right in place of the D5035. It's just a cm longer. I played with the VESC current limits and settled on 71 Motor, 40 Battery. This ...

Re: Sprocket Cover

I just received this Sprocket Cover. Sprocket Cover a.jpg Sprocket Cover b.jpg It's made for the Turnigy motors. Provides an additional bearing for support of the outboard end of the shaft. Hey Bob, very impressed with what you've done with drive, so much so I'm going to convert my Yeti SB5.5. I've just placed the sprocket order with the lovely ladies at Rebelgear.
