Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
For starts I will use a 6355 230Kv motor I have laying around, since I've been building electric skateboard for the past years I have quite a collection of motors to try Next in line would be a 6396 140Kv, but it's quite heavy and I'm afraid there will be too much drag when pedaling The 6396 140Kv ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Inspired from all of you guys, I've started working on my own The previous version was a friction drive, but it didn't work that well and for some reason I blew a lot of tires with it IMG_0649 (Editado).JPG Nice sprocket collection! Just curious, where did you source them? What motor are you using?

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
My primary bike had not been getting much use since I motorized my Reign. So I added a motor to it last December and have been riding it ever since. I have about 35 rides on it now. It's a 2013 Giant Trance 29er, modified to be as close as possible to my Reign. I installed a Reign suspension link an...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
I used the same current limits as the Turnigy 6374, since I worry about cooking the VESC. Why worry ? just set the MOSFET temperature start and limit values and power will be gradually reduced from start to end limit tempeature. I would say 60C to 70C is pretty safe. The Mystery 6384 has a fairly h...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Did you get the motor? What are your impressions ? I received the Mystery 6384 motor a while ago. It took about 6 weeks to ship from China. I have 5 rides on it since the end of January. Power: I originally ran the D5035 (orange) motor. I switched to the Turnigy 6374 motor mid last year. The 6374 w...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Whoah i think we are going too far with the numbers here.. this motor is just a little bit longer than D5035. I expect it to be a little more torquier but i don't think it's stronger than Turnigy 6374. It would be too good to be true at half the price of Turnigy motors. I borrowed some pics of the ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
This puppy with chinese pedigree is very close in size to the orange D5035 but it's much heavier(~+250g) and at half the price! I wonder if it's more copper in there.. I didn't test it yet cuz i had a hell of a time enlarging the 8mm ID of 11t sprocket to 10mm as this motor's shaft. Nice find! Comp...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
You might be surprised at how much power is actually being produced by the Steps E8000 "250w" isn't the actual output. That said I'd look at GNG for various belt parts since many of their early drive systems had a belt primary. They have since gone plentary though and personally thats the...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
I have the new bike, its Cannondale Habit Carbon 2 SE. Currently has 13kg but i will put it on a weight loss diet until it reaches 12kg. Maximum weight without batteries should not exceed 15kg because i have to put it on a roof rack and i'm not the strongest. We have 3kg to play with for the motor,...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Fixvid - Grantmac makes a lot of good points. Designing and developing a proper gear reduction will probably be about an order of magnitude more work/difficulty than a single reduction system. I learned long ago not to build anything that I could just buy. I just took a quick look at the CYC, and it...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
My gearing is 46t - 28t, I cannot go lower then this. I have the same problem as you, bad knees, and I'm struggling on hills. It would be preferable not to pedal at all and that's what I'm aiming for. I really feel that there is more power in that motor but rpm is not enough. Dumping a lot of amps ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
That box for the bike is really neat. Do they allow max 100Wh per battery or per 'luggage' ? If it's per battery then a lot of trick can be made by splitting the battery. I made some improvements for my motor bracket. The plastic was not dissipating heat and i was constantly overheating. Now im usi...

Airline Travel
I found another advantage to a light, low power E-Bike. Last week I traveled from California to Arkansas. There are great trails in Bentonville, so I shipped my bike. https://www.bikeflights.com/ Since the bike is relatively light, the shipping rates were really good. Another 2 pounds and shipping c...

Re: 6S Experiment
Interesting, do some of these outrunners come with temp sensors? whats the motor heating rate 4svs6s? All six of my motors have sensor cables. Five of them have six wires in the sensor cable, which I believe indicates they have temperature sensors. As I run sensorless FOC, my sensor cable is not co...

6S Experiment
A month ago I posted some data on VESC heating vs power. It looked like this put a limit on continuous power. That was using a 4s battery. I was curious to see if changing from 4S to 6S (NO gear ratio change) would improve things. More Voltage and less current... So I ran a quick & dirty experim...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Sorry I dont want 93mph at all, 1200*60*0.000695km= 50Kmh? going close to 40mph is of interest to me. I am highly interested in the vesc6 and power dense motor Got it. The VESC 6 does look interesting. Just curious - is this your main transportation or a toy? Are you OK with the time and expense of...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
I'm planning out a fixie build with sick bike parts cranks. The biggest cog I found for the hub is 22T 3/32 chain . Assuming wolf tooth 30T with the 3/32. And lets say 53 rebel and 9T motor sprocket, I'd be going pretty fast on 10s. 26in 2.4 wheels. 1200Rpm at the wheel I think, is this a good idea...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
That is nicely integrated! I like the overall looks better than the commercial E-Bikes. Lots of cool little details, like the cover over the motor phase wires.

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
Thanks for the info. I will have a look. I like the Wolftooth products. I am using a 104 BCD spider. The new Rebel sprocket is also a 104BCD, so I would like to stay with this mount. The smallest I've seen on a 104BCD was 30T, with the spider interfering with the chain. My SRAM chainring is having ...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
The battery was custom made from 18650 Sanyo 3400Ah cells - 4S4P, fitted inside a 30mm x 50mm rectangular tube. Animalector spot welded the cells for me. He has done a great job. The biggest BMS that fitted into the tube was 40A. The battery is a bit heavy, but I wanted it to be as solid as possibl...

Metr Data
I've had the Metr working for a while now. The data is very interesting. I implemented the cruise control switch at the same time. The first surprise was that I stop and rest more often than I thought, especially when riding with friends. I was sure we stopped three times on our standard ride. Turns...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
So I took the bike for its first test run. The best part of the bike is that it still has the feel of my original bike, just a bit heavier. With this new bike if you want power you need to spin the chain ring fast to get the motor working. It reminded me of the spinning gym classes when I though pe...

Re: My RC Mid Drive with Single Stage Reduction
What Android app are you using? Are you able to connect with the VESC app? It is very easy to use and just works. My Metr App also connects and works, but I haven't really looked at it yet. I've done nothing special. I should have said "using the Metr app on my Android phone". I'm just pl...
