Re: Winter Project... Design and Build an eScooter

Nice scooter Roncat
That qs hub should be more than enough torque , what is the magnet width 35/40mm ?
If so cant see any reason why you couldnt give it 8kw burst :D .
Look forward to your first ride impressions

Here is a shot of my boss bearing idea small compact and dam strong ..no welding needed :) interference fit and secured with 8 m6 countersunk stainless steel socket head cap screws, removable to service the bearings. More welding art from the guy ive finally found to be the best, after a lot of tria...

Re: Scootabot

The life challenges i spoke of before where i had to go to hospital for a procedure as the wanted to have a good look at me... i had to wait 7 months,But results where ALLLL GOOD  . So im in a much better frame of mind to move forward on this scooter. Might take a step back on motor size as...

Re: Scootabot

Life is throwing its challenges at me atm like never before... and slowing the build add to that Chinese new year , but that's not going to stop me right!! So a while back the engineer drilled the fork pivot of center well thats fixed now with a brass bush, and alloy front wheel spacer done. All nic...

Re: Scootabot

Hi Emoto, have you decided on your hub wheel yet? I was looking into hub wheel but could not find a decent ATV tyre to match it on 14/15inch (tyre size), so i gave up and went for 6" Kart wheels instead. Looking forward the rest of your build progressing :) YES finally decided on motor will post to...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Well the last two post's say it all for me atm , as relying on this qs motor for the extra kv i needed is a bit of a gamble. Add to that a more specific controller than your average foc is two much of a gamble for now, if i had close to kv needed id go for it, Heading in another direction now. Thank...

Re: Scootabot

So here is a thing im contemplating atm i love the simplicity of a hub / silence / freewheeling ability, and ive found a big one 9/10kg has a 8 x 8'' rim. the magnet width is 60mm not that big but still trying to get specs on stator diameter. im hoping that weight is windings ect. This could have gr...

[quote= If the rotor iron is well designed for leveraging reluctance torque, this will have a ~neutral efficiency impact to use the additional torque. Coming up with that amount you want to deviate from in phase requires a lookup table from characterizing the rotors iron characteristics. Also, take...

Biggest Power SU Scooter hub motor in 6'' rim

This is for standup Scooter hub motor in 6'' rim , these are the biggest KW Motors i could find , but mabee you know better please share. The dualtron motor isnt in a 6'' rim afaik but the most powerfull afaik and i saw a Russian utube vid that measured magnet width at 70mm :) im guessing the first ...

Re: 5200W stand-up scooter with air suspension

Happy new year! Thank, u 2 =) I want to try setting 120A battery\200A phase. Want to try to accelerate to 60kmh in 4 seconds. As it happens, I will share my impressions and it will be clear whether it is necessary to kicked up rear section to deck =) That 0-50 is already good for that 60mm motor. B...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

The flux path i was discussing there was the one from the V grove rotor not the qs3000w u posted up front. For the qs3000w u are right there is not much reluctance torque possible, it will only come by the magnets saturating the stator iron (5-10% max). The pictured rotor with the V-groove magnets ...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Or with other words if the controller you are using is rated for 72V and you already run a 72V battery, you will not have much room for a gain in RPM. Not so if you would run same 72V controler with only 36V battery voltage, where you could gain twice the RPM safely. Thanks for the abbreviation Mad...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Ah ok there is a missunderstanding. What we were talking about getting efficiency in terms of using all available Torque. Liveforphsics is refering an operating point past the torque optimum and there the ipm torque is decreasing faster with with increasing FW. I Think he is generalizing , as i am,...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Hi Emoto, About the 2-6% gain in eff.: on what basis was this increase calculated? Automotive IPMs normally provide more then 30% of their torque from reluctance. U can even build a motor the just uses reluctance part of the torque and get rid of the magnets and i dont mean those stepper like reluc...

Re: SPM VS IPM Motor - And Field weaken, is it worth it

Hi tecnologic !! So If if i understand , if you dont utilize id / reluctance torque in an ipm that will sort of fight against iq / magnetic torque. making it less efficient. So if we compare it with the 68kv spm at the same speed [kph ] the 41kv ipm would be past its not fluxed state @ 3000 rpm[4500...
