Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?

Do you think you're losing a lot in the conversion, or is the panel just not putting out much more than 15W? Both! Hard to say as I've never hooked it up to a proper MPPT to verify, but I suspect my DC-DC is only 80% efficient at best. The panel is '40W' by Chinese standards, so really probably onl...

Re: Giant Revive conversions

Thanks for sharing ykuga! I like the idea of disc brakes, but I've found two alternate solutions that I prefer which is to run a DD hub with Regen, and hydralic rim brakes like the Magura HS11. Combined I have all the stopping power I could need on the rear. For the front a rim brake is usually enou...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?

I have a solar panel in front of my BikeE CT which also acts as a fairing of sorts: DSC_6643 (Medium).JPG Somewhat ironically, at least anecdotally, the energy efficiency gained from the panel being in-front and deflecting the wind is greater than what I typically gain from Solar charging while ridi...

Re: Giant Revive conversions

I have a Gazelle Easy Glider that I would love to add some sort of electric support to. It has front and rear suspension and a 8 speed Shimano rear gear hub. Great bike but I could use some assist on it so I'll follow this thread :thumb: That's awesome! I didn't realise the Gazelle Easy Glider was ...

Re: Re-viving a Giant revive

Just have to say, IMO, the Giant Revive is a heavy, inefficient, hideous bike. Giant once made bikes for BikeE, and there was a bitter lawsuit where BikeE claimed Giant dragged their feet producing the BikeE so they could come out with their own competitor...the Revive. It removed the best of the B...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I just realized the bike in the video was your build. Nicely done! I love the wire routing and would have never thought to have diy'd an internal battery. Don't overestimate the amount of clearance between the tail of the bike and the tire. I put 2.25" Shinko 714's on mine and though I think t...

Giant Revive conversions

Hi all, So it seems there are quite a few Giant Revive custom/DIY electric conversions out there, and I figured it would be nice to try and bring everyone together to get some discussion going for converting these awesome bikes. I have done a mild conversion which turned out fantastic: 5bkNp0t4W4E T...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I'm using a 24f but I allow it to provide 150 battery and 300 phase to my 4t leaf, on a Giant Revive. Plenty of punch 👊 Very interested in the Giant Revive! I did a very placid conversion to one for a family member recently and loved it: 5bkNp0t4W4E Does the rear suspension move ok with the Leaf? D...

Re: big problem with kenda thorn proof tubes

I've had this same problem. For me it was the rim. Sharp edge where the valve stem pokes through wore into the stem, made worse by running low (>15PSI) pressures.
I mostly solved it by putting some duct tape around the valve stem hole area. Simple fix, worked well. :)

Re: Cowardlyducks - E-BikeE builds

For 20" forks, the spinner grind seems to be fairly well constructed, and suntour also makes some nice 20" suspension forks in various firmnesses, with decent stanchions, if you're unhappy with the Chinese one you bought. Finding one that doesn't hit the pedals on a CLWB is another matter...

Re: Cowardlyducks - E-BikeE builds

Cool. That's a badass battery!!!! It was originally intended for my LMX64, but the dimensions were slightly larger than listed so I couldn't use it. It certainly punches! Even factoring the usual exaggerated specs I reckon it could do 200A peaks, 80A sustained without breaking a sweat. At full thro...

Re: Cowardlyducks - E-BikeE builds

Great work! Please post some videos of the red bikeE getting put to it's intended use, which is always what I want to see after a youtube build series. Maybe some camera angles showing the suspension movement while riding? Speaking of suspension, where did you get that front fork with the durometer...

Re: Kepler Friction drive comes of age.

PETG is the way to go. I find that a spool of PETG needs to be used pretty quickly after opening or it will start to absorb moisture and then it's all over unless you want to print spaghetti. I would be interested in any improvements on the design that might work well with knobbly tires. I have a fe...
