Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

I haven't really investigated much yet, but my display seems to be randomly loosing connection to the controller. Is there a connector that is known to have issues between display/controller?

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Do those wires just have clear insulation or is there not any? I did a similar thing years ago using heat shrink instead of the thick silicone insulation: DSC_2398.jpg I also made the axle hole larger and used very thin teflon coated hall wires so I could fit 10AWG wire through. That and the cooling...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Any feedback from Justin? No as I haven't engaged grin yet about my latest issues. I'll see how it goes and if it gets much worse then I'll chase them up. Oh, and both my units are the 72V version, typically used for 14S (52V) batteries, with occasional use with 18-22S batteries and semi-regular us...

Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts

Original used since they were introduced and on multiple voltages with issue. I’m thinking your problems are a result of not so careful device management. Yours is the exception not the rule. I would like to agree with you, however I'm on my second Satiator now after the first had weird power issue...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Thank you Justin for jumping back on and letting us all know what's going on. While were on the topic of the future of the product, have you considered investing in creating a replacement? I definitely think there is a market for something like a Cycle Analyst, but build with a more modern screen an...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Yeah, very nice Allex. You make me want to build up a Beta myself! That's a beautiful bike - me too! Luckily mine is in pieces already, waiting for a LHD Lightning Rods kit.. You won't have to wait too much longer for your battery at least....here it is about 90% complete, getting it's first charge....

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Mate 207P fits in perfect no need to split that's what I'm running. Yep, that's what I'm doing. Single block 20S7P. The split pack I was referring to was the one I made a few years back that was 20S9P. Another ES member also made one first which I copied. Last I heard that pack is still going stron...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Looks great Allex!

I'm currently building a beta battery for a fellow ES member. Not the super massive split pack I previously did, but somewhere in-between at 20S7P.

Curious if you'll be doing anything different with the battery on the overhaul?

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Yeah that’s what I thought. Would need to build a new battery. Unfortunately space is limited on the f37. It’s tough trying to balance keeping the bike light and smaller yet still pumping out a decent amount of power and battery capacity. Kind of why I’ve been looking at the qulbix 76 frame. It can...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I would argue you don't need an 18Fet Infineon compared to a good modern FOC controller like the Nucular. I ran my Leaf motor at 8KW using an Adaptto Mini-E. AFAIK it's still going strong. For context I also ran a MXUS 45mm with an Adaptto Midi-E at 12KW and that is also still going strong. Both con...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Adding to what CD said, the BB width is 68mm, a 53t is huge. I am not sure how much clearance between the BB and frame battery box there is. @CD, I remember you ran a big sprocket on your Alpha build, is there clearance? You remember correctly. :) I ran a 60T, but spaced it out with a smaller sproc...

Re: Stealth FUTR owners builds and pics

Do you know what bottom bracket I need to fit a 53t? The BB shouldn't really matter it's the crank spider that determines what you can fit. As mentioned I found it hard to find a larger tooth sprocket with the BCD110 spider I had. If you are yet to build it up, I suggest looking at other BDC option...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I would say the phasrunner is fine for the 30mm motor. I use one on my RH212 with 3.3Kw peaks. Controller doesn't overheat since heat sinking it to my frame. For the 35mm wide motor yeah, better off with a bigger controller. I pushed 8Kw through mine using an Adaptto Mini-E in the past. Current equi...

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

What kind of tests can we personally do to figure out if our battery is in poor health or in need of repair/replacement? Yeah as TV said check the voltage, but specifically check it's sag under load. i.e. hot off the charger under WOT you should not see more than about 5-7V of sag. Any more than th...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Hard to say exactly what caused the RH212 to fail like that, but yeah it's pretty bizarre and not something I've ever encountered before either. There were not any obvious external factors and the point it failed wasn't a particularly hard bump, having hit far larger one's prior without issue. I was...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Most Fluke meters are not actually any better. They just have proven history and somewhat guaranteed accuracy. For a hobbyist the increased cost of a Fluke is simply not worth it. Biggest motor I have cooked was a 40mm wide HS4060 pushing 6KW up a steep hill from a stall. With proper cooling, a good...

One could argue your not a true hobbyist until you have 2 digital multimeters and cooked 1 motor. I have one multimeter and have cooked about 6 motors so what does that make me :P My latest was a RH212...shoulda bought a Leaf motor! https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=310260 http...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Any ideas about what sensors are installed in the Leaf from the factory? No sorry. Mine never failed. I've had them fail a few times in past Crystalyte motors. They are usually pretty standard though and the commonly available one's from Ebay or Grin should work. Just make sure they are 5V and outp...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

I've dealt with intermittent issues like that before and unfortunately it could be anything between the controller and motor...including the controller. I would start by cracking open the motor and testing the hall sensors. Get yourself one of those cheap generic 'ebike' testers and use a magnet to ...

Well that didn't go as planned! Was out night riding testing my rear shock at 250PSI (which is nice btw) and hit a curb cut/lip at a normal speed. Heard a clunk and stopped. After going a bit further kept hearing it clunking once per revolution and stopped again to figure it out but it was pitch bla...

Well mostly true, although I don't get air like I once did. :P I have a whole youtube channel dedicated to my off-road riding antics: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUkGv5hl0qEIuqE91GCKuGw No such thing for recumbent riding, mainly because it's boring in comparison since it's mostly on-road or cyc...

Re: Do you use an fairing or partial fairing on your ebike, emoped or BSM?

Almost every recumbent owner I know (myself included) also has plenty of normal upright bikes as well. Just look at my profile pic of my LMX64 with it's 180mm travel that thing can bomb down almost any trail, but I still enjoy taking my recumbents off-road and push things to the limit (and beyond) r...
