Re: Power PCB for Lebowski Controller to be combined with Bobc's processor board

I've added a table to the first post giving recommendations for R_on, R_off and deadtime for different FET types.

I also added all scope pictures of the measurements, for reference.

Re: low inductance output stage contruction

This is the turn on for 4.7Ohm off resistance and 15+4.7 Ohm on resistance: DSC02046-800x800.jpg It takes 200 nsec to reach the miller plateau, which in turn lasts about 200 nsec. The turn off: DSC02045-800x800.jpg Here to reach the miller plateau takes around 300 nsec, the miller plateau takes 200 ...

Re: low inductance output stage contruction

So now I have this test setup for trying out different gate resistors: DSC02048-800x800.jpg I only use one channel, it is loaded with a resistor and big inductor in series to the positive supply. This way a current will flow into the controller, the consequence of this is that the low side FET contr...

Re: Arlo1 Inverter build for Emrax 268

Well the current sensors have to match up with the motor phases. The controller IC gets very confused when it outputs a forward rotating voltage but sees a reverse rotating current (because 2 channels were swapped). In a situation like that it will have no control over the current and it will trip t...

Did you double check the polarity of the current sensors AND that the channels of the pwm outputs and current sensors match up ?

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

The throttle inputs of the controller IC are basically the first stages of the AD converter. How those respond to an open input is very much dependent on the AD circuit... For the motor standstill check, try to measure pins 5,7 and 8 (DIL version). For the chip to declare the motor to be at standsti...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Now you know why I recommend a fuse :D P.S. the bigger the fuse the louder the bang, 30A is already quite a firecracker... PPS what i think happened is you disabled both startup checks (so motor running and throttle closed). Then after the reset with the throttle partially open the motor started run...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

I bumped the closed throttle voltage up from 0.48 to 0.8.... and set the throttle low/hide roughly 1.20 to 4.30... and when the throttle is closed it's definitely below 0.6 without a doubt. So don't think that's the problem. But I definitely see why that's a good place to look.... hopefully there a...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

from looking at the hex: - for a first test I would not use the accelleration limiter - are you sure your battery voltage is in range where it will deliver power ? Do you have the battery voltage measurement resistor on the board ? Maybe try without LVC first ? the motor here (MAC) runs with your (u...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

When it stays stuck in drive 0 (the single red led) - if check enabled in recovery menu it will wait for closed throttle. And not a little bit closed but really closed. If you calibrated throttle closed without giving a tiny bit of throttle the noise may prevent the controller from passing this chec...

Can you post the hex ?

Did you turn off the temp sensor ? Same for the online L&R, did you turn this off ?
Did you set throttle coefficients ?

Re: Andre´s GSXR 1000 K2 with QS Motor 273 80H, 34kW

Its not the length that counts, but the circumvence.... where have i heard that one before ?

The area enclosed by the current counts for the inductance. This is why busbars are so low inductance, they enclose virtually no area.

Re: Andre´s GSXR 1000 K2 with QS Motor 273 80H, 34kW

Hmmm, so the bat positive exits on one side of the battery straight to the controller, while bat negative wraps around the batterybox and goes underneath to the controller. Thus maximising inductance... :(

Re: Arlo1 Inverter build for Emrax 268

sounds like something is triggering the desat. Could be desat too sensitive or something wrong with the gate drive... Did you try the PWM test function (without motor connected) for 5, 50 and 95% dutycycle and check the waveforms on a scope for all 3 outputs ?

Re: Arlo1 Inverter build for Emrax 268

Looking at the settings, I would go through the setup menus starting from main menu option c. Looks like some settings come from Arlo1's motor (like the motor impedance) and his controller (like the current sensor offsets). Also, at the moment it is in sensorless so it cannot deal with a heavy load ...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

Have you seen my 'low inductance output stage' thread ? What current sensors and current level do you want to use ? Are you sure you need 18 or 24 FETs for this ? What FETs do you have ? For instance, a 6 FET with 4468's can do upto 150A phase... (peak, not rms, all currents in the controller ic are...

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

'TEMP' is for one or more optional temp sensors, for either in motor or controller.

The sensors are digital (DS18S20) and can be placed in parallel, the controller ic supports upto 8.

I'd love to see a flying video with this motor... Is it going to be a small ultralight vehicle with a seat or a big parachute with the prop on your back ?

Which current sensors do you have, 100 A ?

Re: build your very own Lebowski controller !

OK, so I got everything hooked up, I connected my battery and measured the 2 voltages. My 5V measures is 4.78, and my 15v measured is 13.92. Using the provided formulas my idea R_5V = 8,812.5 Ohm and R_15V = 8,333.3 Ohm. Sadly, on hand, the closest resistors I have are 10k. I figure fir the 5v that...
