Re: GNG X1-pro 3000w

The reason i'm attracted to this is because you could fairly easily turn it into a direct wheel drive on the right frame. The ultimate style of drive in my opinion. +1, i had the same plan, a left hand drive to a sprocket thats mounted besides the brake disc (there are tons of ready to cut designs ...

Re: Anti Spark Connector for High Current AND High Voltage

I just saw that those MT90 connectors (w/o anti-spark) are now available from some bigger local distrubutors (TME in this case). They sould be nice to connect a battery with digital interface (CAN or UART or I2C) to the BMS in one connector. https://www.tme.eu/en/details/mt90-mf/dc-power-connectors/

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

Another conversion to mention: ferum converted a Bafang 750W fabike hub to middrive a very professional way, with a heat bridge turned on his lathe and a self made multispline shaft: You can see many moire pics in his build thread, here are just some about the motor conversion Link to thread: https:...

i like your vlog as i now have access to infos i didnt have before. even better would be, if you would keep your website more up to date with this info too. Sure many infos you cant give in text as this eats time. but pls dont forget to keep the reader up for the important things.

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

same with the unconverted MAC. The Bafang clutch did hold up longer but i hda issues with the shaft, so it's good that you want to make a larger dia shaft. i think the changing tension on the shaft kills it. When not converted, the bending tension doenst change its sign, since the shaft doesnt rotat...

Re: Steel-geared hub motor?

your first post: Anyone seen those anywhere? I am planning a 2kW+ build with 12" wheels. Apparently nylon gears will not work. Re: Steel-geared hub motor?

Looks like these guys tested it and it was "loud like hell". Mh.... cant find that quote. Cant find a source for those BPM helical gears either. A BTM isnt that loud anyway, the weak point is the clutch, my BPM all had a clutch failure (gets stuck or slipps) or the bearings of those blue nylon gear...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

As Crossbreak will attest, as he is the pioneer of this conversion and the longest running user , the resultant setup is highly reliable and needs little maintenance other than new chains and sprockets and an occasional teardown clean and regrease of the motor gears. i didnt run this setup for much...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

sounds good so far. the bafang rotors are also balanced, i think not dynamically balanced though as this might not be worth it for such a shape and application. So sad that they dont use .35mm laminations as the CST, which has a little smaller airgap and less stator width. I'd really like to use the...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

this is unloaded rpm, you should calc a factor of 0.75 for the loaded rpm. Or better find that factor using the ebikes.ca/simulator

You need to know the output power though, you can calc with 2000W (50A@48V with 20% loss) or what you want to get in the end

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

talking to chinese people isnt always easy. nice that you'll get the 8t. with 12x.5mm you get almost 2.5mm² of copper in the motor. should run well with 56t/17t x6 (6 is the reduction AFTER conversion, 5 the orginal) you get a 15.2 reduction from pedals to the motor. You could go higher if you would...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

yes that is the staton adapter i was talking about , they also do it in 5/8 and 3/4 shaft size my preference is to make a rotor holder like crossbreak did and a custom shaft with keyways not flat sides. ok with a custom shaft you will stillt need an m30x1 adapter or something that takes a small fre...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

thx for that info. so can this seller do an 8T? that would be great. I never got an 8T. 10t was the fastest i was able to order. A 9T would still be worth converting for a 48V setup. I have lasered BB brackets for this conversion left i can send you. I still have an 11T BPM collecting dust which wou...

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

when the bbshd appeared, this thread went out of my sight. the really interesting thing here was the dual jackshaft thing though. Bosch uses this dual drive stuff today even with a planetary drive within the bottom bracket, but not with a powerfull motor so its somehow meaningless. Still its a nice ...
