Re: Tony Seba: Clean Disruption of Energy and Transport

You're saying the same thing Tony Seba said, that it's cheaper to share a car than to own one. And I agree. But we don't just do everything that's cheaper, otherwise we'd all live out of a cardboard box. People own cars because it's convenient and makes our lives more pleasant, not because it's che...

Re: Tony Seba: Clean Disruption of Energy and Transport

Some places they stay clean for days, some only hours (or less) between cleanings. Not saying the cars will become the same way, but given the state of public transportation (buses, light rail) here, when they don't have sufficient personnel (or budget for them) to keep them clean, they get stinky ...

Re: Tony Seba: Clean Disruption of Energy and Transport

Guess I disagree, the first part about disrupting new technologies and them being repeatedly underestimated in the past fascinates me most. Autonomous driving electric cars charged by renewable energies will be ridiculously cheap per mile you use them, also because of them being on the road 24/7 - f...

Tony Seba: Clean Disruption of Energy and Transport

Hey, just wanted to share this very interesting video of a presentation of Stanford University's Tony Seba on his research on technology disruptions and how the speed of adopting new technologies and business models has been repeatedly underestimated in the past. Must watch for those who believe the...

Re: ES Investors Club

There was a guy who you could describe as a german Warren Buffett, not as wealthy, but when he said sth. about stocks everyone interested listened. One thing he said was (if memory serves me right): You have to be bankrupt from trading two times, only after that you are a real "Börsianer" (stock mar...

(So they said.) Stocks hit prices not seen for a few years recently, but current prices still well off historical pace. Yeah baby. Didn't research what you are suggesting, but please don't invest more than pocket money. Saying the stock has been shooting up, but isn't anywhere near where the price ...

I know another recipe, that went well when I cooked it for many others, maybe we can split this up again, you take the pics and I provide the recipe? Well, that took quite some time to get back here, didn't mean to appear ignorant. Re: I'd rather risk being the oddball environmentalist...

...anyone know where I can access data for worldwide CO2 measurements? Both pro & con (IPCC & sceptics) welcome. This was probably layman's BS, temperatures differ because of different conditions, but gases in the athmosphere (like nitrogen, oxygen and CO2) spread evenly, is that correct? I read th...

Re: I'd rather risk being the oddball environmentalist...

Thanks for your input, as you can see from my posts this was more like a background noise topic for me, not something I thoroughly researched. A few years ago I read a report on how some "climate scientists" installed weather stations near the exhaust of aircons (->higher temps), then the IPCC board...

What does the story of a submarine surfacing have to do with anything? :| My point was that the touting goes" If there is no ice at the North Pole, islands, Holland, etc. will be under water". Re: I'd rather risk being the oddball environmentalist...

Thanks for your reply, to me the Vostok data shows that the earth's climate has been going through the same cycle for x years and that we are lucky to be at the end of a warm period and next (could be many thousands of years) we can expect a new ice age. And then some heat goes into the ground and i...

Thanks for your posts, neptronix. Just curious, in one of your links they say "a barrell of oil is worth almost 3 years of labour". My sources say a barrell is worth 12 years of labour? Europeans thinking they can put out 100W continously, while Americans assume 400W cont. is normal? Anyway, :thumbs...

Interesting thread, quite a few here like Chili, so I'll post my favourite Chili con carne spice mix (last time I tried it was a few days ago, but no pics): Spice mix for about 20 servings: 8 Tbls mild red pepper (bell pepper) powder as much hot chili powder as you can stand, normal would be 3 Tbls ...

Looks like it's a 1MW charger and a 1MWh lipo pack  - for a crossing at 13 knots they use a fifth of that pack. To recharge they have to use battery packs on land, too, because the local grid would crash, those packs on land then get slowly recharged for the next round: http://www.greencarc...
