Re: Savety: Electric Shock when touching frame

I think you need to use your brain instead of electrifying your bike which is very immature. Parking a E-bike with motorbikes is not really clever as most motorbike owners are petrolheads. Instead park it with bicycles and you will most likely not get any grief. Also park your bike somewhere near wh...

Re: Is this guy the expert he claims ?

the guy looks like he is looking for an argument to me tbh. He keeps saying he has debunked peoples observations during use of their leaf which is a bit stupid. Obviously as battery's age the internal resistance goes up reducing the rate they can be charged and discharged. When they get cold the int...

Re: Lipo blown up dunno why :(

Generally with most lithium batterys they need to at least be charged to start breaking the battery in and then used conservatively until its been cycled a few times. Going out and using a battery without charging just using its storage charge is a bit silly tbh. Honestly i wouldn't want any battery...

Re: Potting Batteries, Thoughts and Experiments

I am interested to see what happens to these potted battery's when they fail as a fiberglass potting would surely keep everything trapped in pretty well. If the cells cant vent they may end up exploding especially if being overcharged by a failed charger. I remember reading how someone managed to ma...

Re: Taking a chance on Alibaba

I'm kind of skeptic, they didn't even write the cell model, and that is absolutely the most important fact! in the end, it determines the performance of whole pack. Don't buy unless you are 100% on cell model that goes in, because they could be some shitty latpop cells (samsung makes lot of them) w...

Re: Broken dropout due to weak jubilee clip

Most likely the cast alloy dropouts broke and then the torque arm became your dropout and the jubilee clip broke due to the huge load. If i had to use a cast aluminium fork i would machine it so that the slot is wide enough to not take any torque until the torque arm is wound up. The problem is that...

Re: my 48/1000 wheel kit showed up. Rr whl binding (solved)

I haven't had time to read what anyone else has said yet but make sure you check the rim inside the last kit I bought came with a Tyre and tube but had no rim tape and the spoke holes had really sharp burrs on them to the point that they cut the inner tube like an hole punch after being ridden for a...

Maybe try a thumb throttle which you would naturally let go of when you brake.

Re: Does"over volting" a brushless direct drive motor result

People need to remember that Current the flow of electron holes is the result of EMF (Voltage) overcoming the electron flow Resistance. Outside of superconductors they cant exist independent of each other. What that means in the same circuit if you want to increase the current you would have to incr...

Re: quick sanity check of my lipo upgrade

The simplest way to do this would be to run a few cycles on each pack weed out the duds. Then build 2 4s4p banks by just wiring 4 packs in parallel. This would keep the packs more in balance than if you wired them in series and then paralleled afterwards. You could permanently connect these packs ba...

OMFG how can Toyota be so stupid to mix two different metals surely a company like this would not make a mistake like this by accident.

Re: Higher discharge load on end cells?

It could be temperature related the end cells will stay a lot cooler and thus likely to sag more when its cold.

The only other thing is that the end cells probably have less compression on them than the ones sandwiched in the middle.

It makes sense because it doesn't impact cell in any way, and you can easily replace cells when you want. EDIT: it's also much faster once you have a good method. Well actually it does impact them the cells are put under a lot of pressure to maintain the connection. Its actually a lot slower regard...

Re: Holy grail of solderless 18650 is close but not idiot pr

What is this obsession with making battery packs using 18650 cells without soldering or welding? it makes no sense to me.

I mean in the time it takes you to make one of those packs i could have soldered up about 5 packs or more and my construction is more compact and permanent.

I don't think that is a realistic practical ebike test. Ebike battery's need to be water resistant but not waterproof were not making e-submarines.

Re: Dad's electric bikes

Kind of annoying to read a self proclaimed Noob trying to tell us that a Ebike with a broken battery has no value. Most replacement batteries cost around a third of the original purchase price that means one with a bad battery should be at least worth something. How do we know you didn't steal these...

Re: expected battery life?

One thing people in cold climates have to remember is that batteries don't perform well if they are allowed to get too cold and for this reason putting them into some kind of insulated container to help keep them warm during winter months will considerably help with winter voltage sagging.

This eliminates the ...
