Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks very much for that info. The kits are still under warranty as they are all less than 12 months old but try & get a response from China. I did manage to get one part replaced under warranty but had to do the labour myself & the kit was shipped back to me from the States, time & labour to be re...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Where we live it is quite hilly so 3 Blue Gears replaced with Brass. One Clutch replaced under warranty, now runs intermittently. May be a faulty torque Sensor, controller or loose connection? Maybe these were all made on a Monday morning. I dunno. They haven't been reliable as far as I am concerned...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I am studying e-assist motor options for installing on a recumbent trike. I know very little about e-assist motors. I have a few questions that may be answered somewhere in this 123 page thread. I may eventually read all 123+ pages but great over kill for a few basic questions. Well over-kill for a...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I wish I live in a country like that. In my country, Portugal, because police has no resources, everyone drives cars and passing the legal limit speed and talking at mobile phones -- it is very dangerous and there are always news of people that get dead by cars because of that :-( Also I wish police...

PARTING OUT TSDZ2's

I have 3 TSDZ2 Mid Drives that I am parting out. Out of 4 sold in the past year or so 3 have been back for repairs. One unit 3 times. Is it rider error? Too hilly or too much weight for this area? Either way, they have not been a reliable unit & I am switching the owners over to Bafangs. I unit is l...

Blue Nylon TSDZ2 Gears

I have 4 brand new. Exchange from new kits sold with Brass Gear Replacements. $50. plus postage. I am looking for anyone within a short Distance of Anacortez, Wa. or San Rafael, California that can troubleshoot a 36 volt - 350 watt TSDZ2 install for me. It sounds like the torque sensor may be faulty...

Re: TSDZ2 Strange Behaviour - How to debug/identify the issue?

My first reaction to your problem was that it is possibly the magnet & wheel sensor spacing either being incorrect or dirty. If the Sensor/Magnet spacing is more than 3mm or dirty that could cause intermittent signal loss. My next step would be to check all the other connections & then go into the b...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Just wanted to make sure you were aware that you can buy a 52/56 tooth (can't remember which) specifically for the TSDZ2 for about $28. or so. Maybe the dish on the one made for the TSDZ2 won't cause you any clearance problems.

TSDZ2 Sensor Adjustments?

I have a customer that has installed a 350 watt/36 volt TSDZ2 without throttle or Brake Inhibitor levers on a recumbent trike. The biggest problem he has is the pedals are extremely hard to turn the motor over when there isn't any power energized from the battery. When there is power the pedals will...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Could you please confirm? - Have you tried pedaling with this motor turned OFF? Do you get much resistance through the pedals? How about with the Power turned on but with the power level set to OFF? Any difference in the resistance? I have a distant customer that is getting a lot of resistance in th...

Tongsheng TSDZ2 operation

I received an email from a customer that did their own install of a TSDZ2 36 volt/350 watt kit. This is the non- pedal brake/non throttle version. (That's what I ordered but maybe not what they received?) The install went well, but the customer finds the cranks very hard to turn. I am guessing that ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Installing the motor retaining block shown in the photo looks like it would pose a problem on the Cruzbike as it may not reach far enough to the rear to fit through your chainstays. If that is the case you may have a problem figuring out where to attach a means of preventing the motor from turning u...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Just an observation & maybe someone can verify. - The big gear plastic cover that has a gasket running on the inside around the perimeter - Should the gasket mount over top of the frame or run alongside the frame? The reason I ask is when tightening up the cover screws, it seems to tighten the cover...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Since you are riding in 29 degree weather with the motor under load is it possible the motor is overheating? I would also check the actual voltage of your battery when it cuts out. If the voltage drops with the motor overheating & then starts up once everything cools down that might be your answer.

Re: TSDZ2 Opinions Please

Anyone else have opinions on changing the Chain Rings to make the life of the Blue Gear a little more durable? Thanks for your repl...

TSDZ2 Opinions Please

I am having trouble getting my head around this motor. I see some people using this on mountain bikes, riding on what I would consider tougher conditions where the motor & gears should be working harder than our typical operating conditions & yet I have sold 3 of these kits & one came back with a bl...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So I got PSWPower to send me a replacement metal gear on the chance that it was the gear that had stripped. However, I have opened up the unit following the guides that everyone has helpfully posted, but my motor does not slide out once the four screws at the bottom are out. It feels pretty stuck i...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Most likely is the blue gear. Sounds exactly like what happened to one unit I had sold. Customer managed 40 kms. before the gear stripped. If you have trouble getting either the blue or brass gear replacement I have spares but don't want to step on anyone's toes here.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks Magna 99, that helps a lot. I am often asked to do installs on different trikes & with some having front suspension, rear suspension, no suspension, factory rear racks, no rear racks or after market rear racks, 20 or 26 inch back wheels it can sometimes make for some varied combinations to ge...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi RT - I may have a set of levers but I will have to check to make sure the plugs are the same as they came on another kit.
\ Just checked, they are 2 pin & the TSDZ2 requires 3 pin connectors.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks very much for your most useful information. I went back & checked the site where I thought there were optional sizes of the chain rings & I should have read the information more carefully. The options are dual chain rings in either 52/42 or 34/42 combinations.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thanks RT111, my install is for a 20 inch rear wheel, recumbent trike so I believe the 52 tooth chain ring will allow for a more relaxed cadence. Tongsheng does offer several different tooth options so I think their offset should be accounted for IF you can find anyone that has them. If I am not mis...

Anyone know of a source for the TSDZ2 52 tooth Chain ring & I will be able to give you feedback on the motor performance on a trike.
Re-Cycle doesn't have any to sell. Thanks.
