Re: 8C and 12C cells with same IR

I have one of these testers (YR1035) and it uses an internal 18650 cell vs a 9V: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4001288864976.html?spm=a2g0o.productlist.0.0.457f312dsYEJMr&algo_pvid=2acd3f13-7045-49f4-afb4-60f992930792&algo_exp_id=2acd3f13-7045-49f4-afb4-60f992930792-2&pdp_ext_f=%7B%22s...

Re: Can I fix this LED driver?

Thanks for your input guys. I going to choose a suitable DC - DC converter and try feeding the boards 12V. I have ordered some replacement boards/drivers for this light instead of attempting to repair the existing ones.

Can I fix this LED driver?

I have these LED drivers which both failed after less than 5 hours each. My estimate is that they failed because they are rated for an input voltage of 10-80VDC but my pack is 86.1V full. I didn't notice when the first one failed but the second one failed when I turned it on via a simple on-off swit...

Re: Putting an ebike light on a TSDZ2 setup.

Yes, I think it is 6V; but that would allow you to use most of the USB (5V) type lights if you find a suitable one.

Sticking with your original light brand: these work on 6V too (as an example):

Re: Putting an ebike light on a TSDZ2 setup.

My battery does not have an off switch and the manual mentions avoiding deep discharge, does the BMS that comes in batteries automatically switch off the battery if it drops below a certain voltage? I typically take my battery off and charge it after a ride but I want to know just in case I forget....

If you've tried all possible phase cable and hall sensor combinations; then it may be time to test the motor's hall sensors and controller's phases. Ebikes.ca has some great troubleshooting videos/articles

Re: U004 Battery: changing BMS

The exact behavior would depend on the BMS and the controller current cut off limits. Some "50A" BMS will just cut the power at 50A; some will allow you to exceed 50A for short bursts. If you get a controller with a programmable max battery current level; you can try running it at 50A batt...

That is a pretty poor mistake for the factory to make but nice work on figuring it out.

I wonder what the four bolt pattern is on that freewheel 2.0 and if it can be used on other mid-drive setups? How does it attach to the crank arms?

Nice looking Honda. I'd be tempted to sell it or keep it as in and use a different bike; just because it is in such good condition.

Re: Ebike Battery pack got unbalanced. Reasons?

The source of the imbalance could be a few things:

mismatches in cell group internal resistance
uneven current share on the series connections
faulty BMS
frequently draining the cells down too low

My first though is check the frame for any broken welds/cracks etc... I imagine a frame like that relies heavily on the rectangle box as part of it's structure.

You want to choose a place to drill where it won't damage the windings or cable harness inside: see the basic example in the video: https://youtu.be/JZU-mhlNcqE?t=88

Re: First e-bike build: Need help diagnosing motor/controller problem

Strange sound. The motor looks like a direct drive hub motor but sounds like a stripped gear. Does the wheel spin freely (without power) when off the ground? If it is a direct drive hub motor; it's likely that one of the motor's hall sensors has failed or there is a poor connection between the contr...

Re: Can i tap charging lead to draw small power for light?

That will depend on the BMS. If it is a "2 wire" BMS then it won't matter since the charge and discharge leads some from the same spot on the BMS board. If it is a "3 wire" BMS; I wouldn't tap into the charge leads because the charge circuit may not have discharge protection for ...

Re: MXUS 3000 Hub Motor - V1 V2 V3

Thanks, I'm surprise the Crystalylte H55 series says it fits 135mm rear dropouts; I would have thought it would have to be wider for a 55mm wide stator motor. Any other options/manufacturers for decent 45H hub motors? I'm looking to stick with motors under the 10kg mark.
