Re: Whats wrong? Wheel build n00b

Looks to me like the spoke eyelets don't let your spokes align with the spoke nipples. Are those 14 guage spokes? It may be a function of the rim you chose, or lacing pattern. I have seen where some people file the eyelets to allow for better alignment. As for your build, I doubt it will break apart...

Way back in the 1980's, when pay per view programing was broadcast by "ON TV" I knew a guy who worked as an electrical engineer for a defense contractor. Being the curious he wanted to crack the coding system that kept anybody from just putting up an antenna and watching the paid programin...

Re: Reducing battery voltage

Don't wire them in series, wire them in parallel so they are always at 48v. (48v nominal) You will need to make sure that they discharge at very similar levels or you could kill one of the packs early. If you are not sure how to do this, keep them apart until you can verify that they discharge at si...

Decided to get one of these the Creality Ender 3 V2, lots of sellers and lots of YouTube reviews......... Probably a good printer. Haven't been printing since my Lulzbot loaner was given back to the owner. So now you get to find the 3D modeling software that works for you, and endlessly tweak the 3...

If you are buying one of those big 100ah batteries, they might already have a BMS built in. Link the battery and motor your are thing of buying.

Re: Accidental ebike newbie with controller and battery questions

But surely that depends on the battery size and the motor? I thought the controller just controls whatever power it's getting. I guess my question is, if I have a 250w motor and a 250w battery, is there a penalty to having a 250w controller vs a 500w controller? Battery size, battery chemistry (C r...

Yes, a really powerless bike. It is better to have an overpowered bike and use less throttle then have a bike that doesn't really do much so you have to pedal hard anyway. IMO a 250w to 350w controller is a waist of money.

Re: Accidental ebike newbie with controller and battery questions

What you need is a battery and controller that doesn't burn out your motor. Since your motor is 36v, a 36v controller will match. However, 250w is a small controller. (250w / 36v = 6.9 amps.) I would go with something bigger. Maybe 500 watts. However then you will need a battery that can handle the ...

Sometimes the torque of the motors can work themselves out of the dropouts. Nord-loc washers sometimes help. Post a picture of your dropouts so we can see what you are working with.

I might have been a bad bms in the first place that allowed the cells to drain to zero. If you do something with that battery, you should consider a new bms.
