Re: Phat Bike Build

Taxes are coming up and Im going for the Alex DM24 26 36h on that back wheel with 13g sapim spokes. Im up to 10 spokes busted. I dont think the DX32 26 36 is much of an improvement for the extra 50 bux. Going to this bike shop here to rebuild my wheel correctly. From experience, building a motor whe...

Re: Kinni's rebuild

so finally fixed it! Phase wires to 12 awg and a little oil cooling. motor is already dropped and old wires pulled. Hall wires are routed and zip tied to the axle for stability (not necessary, actually was a hindrance) note the 30 awg magnet wire I ran for future temp sensor http://i1349.photobucket...

Re: Newbie to Electric Bikes

nominal is close to dead. lipo at full charge is 4.2v per cell. but thats not at WOT. 18s is 75.6 v on my CA (66v nominal) at WOT on level ground I show about 71v. Its all how you look at it.

using 30awg wire in motor?

is it ok to use 30 awg magnet wire in hall sensors to create room in the axle for larger phase wires?

Re: Newbie to Electric Bikes

3500 miles on my 9c. it broke down due to pilot error i.e. zero maintenance and water in the hub causing the hall sensors to fail. cheap fix.

first...the law Despite the more recent EU directive and standard, the UK’s[25] Electrically Assisted Pedal Cycle Regulations 1983 (SI 1983/1168) have not been rescinded and still apply. These require that the motor has an average power output limited to 200 W (250 W for tricycles and tandems), weig...

Re: Phat Bike Build

hey JKB, I wouldnt worry too much. Ya I had problems with it but you gotta remember my case was pretty extreme. I had halls problems that locked up the wheel and sent feedback into the controller that burned them up. Remember, I have over 3000 miles on that little controller before I destroyed it. M...

Re: Kinni's rebuild

So i was out for a ride the other day and BOOM! (well no boom but you get the idea) It went dead. I was climbing something I probably shouldnt have (20+%). Coasted home, forgot about it and went on with my life. Today I had some time to mess with it. Pulled off the wheel and lo and behold. The wires...

sounds like your throttle has a bad connection somewhere or some water in the pot, look for shorts.

Re: Noob questions

Spoke breakage comes when you have loose spokes but don't tighten them then go down a bumpy road, or overtighten and go down a bumpy road. I used be on board with the whole "get fat spokes" thing, but after breaking just as many 12ga spokes as 14ga spokes, I think it's more of a tension/maintenance...

Re: Kinni's rebuild

Got the new on/off switch hooked up. Still room on the sides for little round light switches after I get them hooked up. Didnt hook up the light on the switch, I think the red might be a little to blinding in the dark. The wire is there if I decide to try it out one night, just have to add a 5k 1/4 ...

Re: Connector Difficulty

Arkmundi is right with the solder gun/iron thing. higher wattage soldering irons DEFINITELY make e bike work a LOT easier, especially when soldering huge wires like 10 AWG into 4mm bullet plugs. tiny wires like hall sensor wires (mine upgraded to 24 awg) isnt a problem with .064 solder and a 25 watt...
