Re: Any big saves (accidents) ?

Last week I took a turn too sharp in our bike trail parking lot (1/2 mile of twisty paths) and found myself going over the curbs, which are lined with large stones. The trike went right over them without damage to me or it. Suspensions really make a difference when you need them.

Re: Winterized

For sure, DA and amberwolf, the older you get the more wheels you need. Trikes rule for winter even down south here. Temps in the 50-60 at times. I know, not New York cold and no snow, but occasional ice midwinter. Trikes keep us safe.

Re: Geared hub motor toast?

I'm not sure that this is going to be helpfulbut at least you warned us about EBO not being helpful to your cause. It solves my problem of who not to order from. An axle should not break under normal ebike conditions. That motor looks a bit like a Bafang. Is that the brand? If so I know who not to o...

Re: 20AH 48V pack using Samsung 25R + Agniusm modules + Generic BMS

And AgniusM is a very clever engineer. I had his first set of battery holders for the A123 cells and they worked great. I am in the process of collecting money to get a 12S set of these 8P ones for the new Sony 18650 cells. Soon, I hope.

I been flying electric model aircraft since the '60s when Bob Boucher started Astroflight. I had to quit around 2000 when I almost crashed one straight into the polo field owners Jeep. Time for model trains then. Easier to see.

Sorry to say I believe Lightfoot Cycles is no more. I think they closed last year. Really too bad since they had some excellent designs.

Interesting! There is another Lightfoot Cycles, but they are not the ones in Montana where they built their own designs. Those folks were really excellent!

Re: Newbie E-trike Build

Check out Steintrikes full suspension trikes. You can buy the frames only if you choose and save a bunch of cash. They are steel frames so no dropout problems. Do use at least 1 torque arm, however, and 2 are better. They basically offer a lifetime warrantee to help with frame parts. Good folks. oth...

Re: E bike Gearing Why Bother

I use my gears all the time. I'm 210 and my Steintrike with Cute 100H weighs about 75#. We have one or two steep (5%) long hills and I need to pedal my butt off in low gears or the trike will not get up them. I run 36 volts, so it is truly "pedal assist". I need the exercise as an old guy so this is...

Ebikes.ca (grin) used to sell single sided axle motors. Might be worth an Email to see if they still sell them.

Re: 2 Speed Xiongda hubmotor

I had enough difficulties with the Xiongda motor on my trike so I would hesitate to use it on the USX that my wife drives. She has a small geared motor from Ebikekit and I am using a Qute100H for my motor. Both have been adequate power and trouble free for at least 2 years.

Steintrike also has adaptive technology, namely a hand driven replacement for the foot pedals. Contact Victor at the plant in Serbia or this guy at Wildfire in the USA.. Much less expensive than Hase.

Re: Best Cushiony Rear Shock for Ebike

And of course that heavy motor on the rear will upset just about any shock/spring combo. Their parameters are set for a bike wheel with maybe 1 kilo of hub weight or less. Put a 7 kilo hub on the wheel and jounce and rebound are not happy campers. Perhaps you can adjust the better shocks and use a m...

Black and Decker have an inflator also for their "multi tools" (basically a 20 volt lithium drill) for about $25. Prolly not quite as good as the Ryobi but similar and cheaper, particularly if you use their tools anyway.

Re: What lcs display is compatible with my controllers?

KT controllers have the KT and serial number on them. Yours does not seem to have this so I suspect it is not a KT. To connect one of the LCD screens you would need the compatible connector. If you can show the wire connectors that might help.

I'm watching this discussion carefully since I have removed the fan from my Wangdd22 booster and will mount it on the trike as soon as temperatures rise. I am hoping to avoid the fan as it is in a bad spot to mount the heatsink correctly against the frame.

Hey AW. You have an auto power transmission U-joint. Much too big and heavy. The one Fechter shows is for steering rods; much lighter and smaller. They make even smaller ones for lawn mowers and 4-wheelers.
Just sayin'.

Maybe if we post some pictures it would show the differences. My old foggy memory sort of remembers the 20 amp and 30 amp being somewhat different in structure. However I am still waiting for the weather to get better so I can test the 30 amp one. otherDoc Whoops, we already got pictures of both. It...
