I think the point is that you cannot edit the speed through the display interface. The actual speed limit is programmed into the controller, changing the display should not change this setting.

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Just be a bit careful with the position sensor calibration. It caused my motor to invert direction and spin backwards. Interesting that the issue was saved to flash. Even turning the bike off and back on failed to restore the setting. For a month I was convinced it was some sort of internal failure,...

Hey Kepler were you monitoring the "Power" on the display?

I get error 30 with somewhat predictability if I move off the "trip" onto the "power" display item.

Something to consider...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

When in walk mode, the wheel spins too slowly and there is no signal to the controller therefore you get error 21. It's a design flaw. I've notified Bafang about it. But it has not been fixed. You also get it when trying to do low speed manoeuvres like turning around our starting out very slowly. Bu...

The speed sensor calibration must be done if you open the motor cover.
This is interesting I've had the cover off a bunch of times I see no reason why you would need to do a speed sensor calibration.???

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

I think it is fair and reasonable to 'hope' that new firmware will fix the problem. It's possible that they stuffed the communications protocol and the system cannot handle negative temperatures so the communications dies.. maybe it also cannot handle single digit numbers. who knows but it sounds li...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

I have this version, and it is pretty smooth. For 43V systems though. CRX10NC4320i132045.6-28-2230-20200824-3.bin Note I have 32045.6 and yours seems to be 32046.6 I don't know what the differences are. There is a behaviour where the motor "overruns" so when you stop pedalling it sounds li...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Unless you edit the firmware itself, having Besst won't help because you can only upload new firmware supplied by Bafang.. there are no settings in Besst that allow you to adjust control parameters (torque power etc)

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

I had a random " error 27" motor overcurrent. In the BESST tool the diagnostics said the controller current was 4 to 5A but the battery current was really 0.08A. Turns out reflashing the firmware and setting the peed limit and wheel diameter has resolved the issue. Controller current now r...

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

my error 30 seems to be more common if I am watching the "power" output on the display. if I keep it in just trip mode, I haven't seen a problem, SO that leads me to believe it is firmware. I have a newer version, I will test.

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

I've had Error30 a couple of times, it locks up the display. I remove the battery and reinsert and then it's fine again. Interestingly, both times was while watching the 'power' option on the display. when the display is sitting on 'trip' it seems to be ok. I'm thinking firmware to do with the CANBu...

Ever fix this? I get an error 30 from time to time. Could be coincidence, but last two times I was on the "power" display option.

IMG_20201016_103626 (Custom).jpg You have to be careful with the plugs because the two small plugs can be reveresed.. IMG_20201016_115601 (Custom).jpg See the M600 has extra FETS and two shunts in parallel, the M500 has only 1 shunt, and less FETs. Also note the size of the 3 PIN phase connector......

Re: Bafang M500/M600 thread

Has anyone sucessfully altered the speed limit on the M500, I don't need the M600's power ( I would sooner have light batteries with greater range ) yes, you need the BESST Tool, or access to someone with the BESST Tool. THen you just change the Speed limit to 40km/h, wheel size to 29 or 27.5 (or 2...

Looks awesome for tangent / cyclone riders...

There's a guy on facebook who can't get it going though, the pack needs to talk to a tool to drive the output.

Ideas anyone?
