I'm sorry to hear that you had your bike stolen. I will keep an eye out in LA in case the bike travels North.

Re: Some disaster preparedness thoughts

As I have been getting back into the hobby of car camping, my disaster preparedness equipment has taken a serendipitous augmentation. Living in a small apartment in coastal So. California, I do not have a glut of space to store items. So my items have to be of dual purpose to earn a place in my limi...

Re: ST charger... convert from 13S to 12S

I would guess that it is controlled via a resistor somewhere in there. Good luck trying to reverse engineer that one.

You're going to have a much better (i.e. easier) time buying an adjustable charger or one set for 12S and selling that one.

Re: Xtracycle Edgerunner rear torque arm

Looks pretty good, but I agree with Tek': TA should always go against frame.

Another question, does it allow the axle to fully sit in the dropout? Looks a bit shallow, but that could just be the image angles.

Re: When selling stuff online classifieds...

I usually have them meet me at my place. I live in an apartment building and meeting them in the front common area. I'm generally not worried by the people that I interact with. If they are sketchy on the phone or text, I won't put in enough effort to find out. If they want to meet in a public place...

That's a small motor, so using light stretch-capable spokes will be the best. 14g butted Sapims are the best of the affordable camp, IMO.

Re: What headset?! New Frame, incomplete headset data - HELP

You didn't mention the fork that you'd be using this with and whether or not the crown race would be integrated.

EC34 is the type that you'll want, but the stem clamp diameter and the crown race diameter need to be determined for the right headset.

Re: Con(fused) about fuses!

As to the amp rating of the fuse or circuit breaker, it's important to remember that a large part of what you're protecting with a fuse/breaker is your wiring. That is to say, you don't want so many amps to be drawn at any time that the insulation on your wiring melts and results in a short. So, th...

Re: Rear bike light too bright.

Just aim it downward a bit. It's likely that it was flashing at the exact angle to be right in his eye.

Set your bike up and walk 30 - 50 feet away and see how it looks from a driver's point.

I usually like my headlights bright. Taillights only need a modicum of light for you to be seen.

I have 24s pack mayed up of 4 6s 4.5ah battery's that are rated at 45c. My question is can I bulk charge this pack at 100volts at 20amps without hurting the battery's.If not 20amps what is the maximum amps I can charge them safely. Re: Have you seen this happen to a bolt/nut before?

It's corrosion. Specifically galvanic corrosion caused by interaction of dissimilar metals:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galvanic_corrosion

I'm assuming copper wire with a non-corrosion-resistant metal, like plain steel.
