Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

Update 11/20/2018 miro13car, this is the original $230 1000w kit with lots of dirt. About 3.5 years of use and has 25,000+ miles on it. I have another kit with 2 years (16,000+ miles) on it as a back-up. I have not been riding as much this year. I still have a swollen ankle and foot. Was seen by sev...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

Thanks Chalo, the Sunrace seems to be working ok, but, I have a Shimano as back-up. It good to have bike experts on the form. ****************** Friday was my last day of school until August 6th. This year I drove 3 times (75 miles) and biked 181 times (9200 miles). It did not rain much so I had no ...

looking for high voltage shut-off for solar charge

Hi electrical experts. I have a harbor freight tools 100w solar unit. This system consists of 4 x 12v panels hooked up in parallel. It also comes with a 12v charge controller, which I used until my lead acid could no longer hold a charge over night. Lately, I have been charging my 30ah battery (15s)...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

Finally had to drive a car to work due to rain. Wanted to keep my ebike commute streak going, however, my streak staying upright seemed more important. Used my daughter's car and filled up her tank. Since I donated my car in August, I think this is the first time I have pulled into a gas station. Ev...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

1/2/2018 update: December 22nd was the last day of school and my last commute on the 1000w bike. This semester I commuted 89 days by bike and none by ICE. We had no rain so I had no excuses not to ride. I ended the fall session with more than 4,500 miles. Not really motivated to buy a car yet, but o...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

Thanks Wesnewell, I have a pair of Alex DX32 rims coming. I think I will start with the front wheel. 1000w update: This school year I have 69 ebike commutes (3,500 miles) and zero by ICE vehicles. Hopefully it does not rain too much this winter. Here is the bike and the odometer last week. 1000w bik...

Re: Chargers Interfering With Each Other?

You will need to disconnect the 6s packs when charging like this with any balance charger. The positive form one charger will be directly connected to the negative charge of the joining pack through the series connection. I am not an expert, but by unplugging, you can isolate each pack.

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

First, the cheap, all black 1000w kit works ok for short trips, but after 25 miles with some hills, it became almost too hot to touch. After some research, it seems they are not as good as the original 1000w yescomusa kits. After a week of hard peddling (and a hot motor), I took this motor off and p...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

wesnewell and markz, thanks for the wheel building tips. The 500w bike weighs 72 pounds but that is with: the lock, tools, extra tube, 1/2 full water bottle, first aide kit, 15 x 8 Mj1 battery, bathing suit/goggles/small towel. I keep this bike outside on my balcony year round. It cost $35 and still...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

500w motor/bike & battery collection update I usually ride the 500w bike during the summer with the 8p,15s LG Mj1 pack (28Ah on paper). Mostly flat rides in town, about 100 miles a week or so. The pack is gets slightly out of balanced but since I only charge to 60 volts and keep most my rides under...

Re: Yescomusa.com 500 & 1000 watt 48v rear kit review

Today was my last day of school until August 1st. This year I worked 180 days, drove my car 25 days, rode my 500w bike 7 or 8 days, and rode the 1000w bike about 148 times or so. My odometer on the 1000w bike reads 24462 total miles, so, 7462 mile for the year. The 500w bike got 350 miles commuting ...

Re: Solar Charging - DC-DC Buck/Boost

This is an interesting equation. The trouble with most cheap dc to dc step up converters is you can't go lower than the input voltage. Never heard of a sepic converter but could not find one on Ebay that would work. I had the same problem but was lucky to get over 100ah of free SLA batteries. I use ...

Re: Help identify this battery

Looks like a 48v 15ah ping lifepo4. I count 48 total cells, probably 16s 3p. Mine is over 4 years old and I still get 30 miles on a charge. Fresh off the charger should be 58.5 or so (3.65 per cell) then drop down slowly to 54v or so but still full. If only 14 LEDs light up, you need to keep the bat...

Also, purchased a 15s bms and have been doing some testing. Can't seem to get it to balance the pack. Seems just to shut down the char...

Windtrader, since my bikes are steal, I just use a 6 inch adjustable wrench and about 50-75 pounds of force. I do not see a need for torque arms yet because they are more expensive than my bike. Had one side come loose and rub on the frame but it was an easy fix. ******************** My electricity ...

Markz,

I got the batteries from Alibaba, not Aliexpress. Here is the link:

https://wlsbattery.en.alibaba.com/

The cells appear to be good but I was not impressed by the packaging. A bigger box with some foam would have been nice. I was impressed by the speed that they arrived.

Windtrader, post up some pictures when you get a chance. Hopefully you will not need to balance charge much.
