Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
ill switching also from 19" to 18x1.85 tubliss with a Cst C-755 (i ride 80/20 offroad/Street) C755 is a nice tire(stock rear on Quantya track), but I haven't been able to find the 18x3.5 size, and don't want anything larger. I tend to avoid mud when possible, so the trials should work well for...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Happy with the rim - Perfect size and not heavy. I used 12g spokes(186mm length), but the rim holes are too large so I used some curved washers. rcmonstermike, thank again for the information. I also want to go with the same exact shinko tire. I think that is the perfect size and tire for the bike, ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I used a Rising Sun 18x1.6 rim with a Shinko SR241 tire....it seems just about perfect, though rain and work have prevented me from getting a lot of time on it.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I was thinking about building another rear wheel. Would anyone know how I would go about getting a hub for the rear wheel? I was able to get a hub from AE bikes and built an 18" rear wheel so I could use an 18x3 tire. Pretty sure they use a proprietary hub and disc to allow larger bearings in ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I took the top off and there was no moisture in it. It has sat a couple of days with the top off and no change. I guess I should consult Luna and see what they say. It kind of sucks because they cost so much. I still have the battery for the other bike. 20180721_135856-1.jpg Maybe just the volt-met...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
In really tight, not too steep stuff I agree - the 58t provides ample power, even in eco mode(or whatever it's called) if it's "bicycle tight" and flat. It needs more when things open up and for climbing, though(gets me up most anything, but not very fast). I ran a 72v, 300 amp setup in my...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
looks like we killed the thread monstermike, no one has posted since monday.... weird. Maybe everyone else is out riding....lucky dogs! I did manage about an hour yesterday in some tight single track.....thank you Mr. Marzocchi!! Suspension is a ton better than stock up front and the rear worked we...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Looks pretty awesome rcmonstermike. I have tried to find those forks at different times and could never find any for sale. Like what you have done. Thanks motomoto - I managed to get a spare set of forks when I got the blade and never used them....wasnt thrilled with the RST, so good opportunity to...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
28.4 degrees....about .3 degrees less than my electricmoto blade(28.7), which uses the same forks, and identical to my ktm 350xcf. Didn't calibrate, but the 3 bikes show apples to apples comparison. So 90-28.4=61.6 to the ground! That is some serious slack there. Downhill bikes don't go lower than ...

Re: Sur-Ron - pics
Very nicely done Mike, thats impressive you designed that linkage in a day. I my uncle Norman Kouba is the owner/founder/producer of KoubaLink. Another distant relative of mine owns YamaLink. It amazes me how much design goes into a simple "linkage" modification. Delron bushings are actua...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Just about 13" of ground clearance with the new lift - also a picture with the new forks, but no linkage - chopped out(front wheel on lower ground, too - it was worse than the picture shows).

Re: Sur-Ron - pics
here are a few pics - note the linkage is a prototype (decided yesterday morning to make it, so it was designed and built in a day - will ultimately install needle bearings in place of the Delrin bushings, though they should hold up for a bit - ordered the needle bearings and made the bushings to th...

Re: Sur-Ron - lift kit
Decided the firefly deserved some upgrades, so I installed big boy forks(Marzocchi super monster - 12" travel). The extra length/height had a profound impact on the steering angle(and steering, of course...almost stuffed it in a tight corner), so I decided to lift the rear as well. After some t...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Is that an easy operation to do? Where is the adjuster for the belt tension? (Sorry, away from my bike for this week) Easy to adjust - remove the skid and you will see the motor bolts and adjuster. Loosen the motor bolts and make the adjustment...i just backed it off 1 position. Hmmm, tried this an...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I was able to reduce the noise on mine by reducing the belt tension by 1 position on the adjuster.....significant reduction of the whining sound present even off throttle............. Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I was able to reduce the noise on mine by reducing the belt tension by 1 position on the adjuster.....significant reduction of the whining sound present even off throttle. Aside from that, I added a rubber flap to reduce mud on the rear shock(attached at plate/light - works great), hacked on a longe...
