Oregon deputies pull out 57 electric scooters, bikes out of Portland river
This is not your average "catch of the day." A sheriff's office in Oregon recently disclosed it hauled dozens of electric scooters and bicycles out of a major river in Portland. The Multnomah County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday on Twitter the department's dive team recovered a total of...

Re: Riding with night vision
I have several types of night vision devices, including thermal, (for other purposes)... I hate even walking with it. I can't imagine trying to ride a bicycle on a mountain trail with it.

Re: Battery Space 20AH Prismatic LiFePO4 tests
You are welcome Ian. They seem to be pretty tolerant batteries. I haven't cycled any of them a whole bunch of times but at least their shelf life seems to exceed everyone's expectations. I wish I had known about 'storage charge' when I put the ones away three years ago fully charged.. If you can aff...

Re: Battery Space 20AH Prismatic LiFePO4 tests
And another update: After extensive tests of the 16 S pack that had been accidentally discharged down to around .35 V per cell (Turned out my controller had about a cup of water in it from a long, nearly horizontal rainstorm... water must have run down the wires and seeped through the silicone seal....

Re: Mystery 18-FET controller
OK I finally got the photos ready to show the details of the inside of the controller, if anyone is interested: (This is for the 1500 watt controller rated for both 48V and 72V.... I've only tried mine at 48 V (57.8 Hot off charger) Below each thumbnail is a link to a higher resolution image so as t...

Re: lithium battery still fully charged after 24 months
Yep. I've been retesting some LiFe Cells : 20Ah Battery Space (GBS) Prismatic cells that were put away 3+ years ago, fully charged, and Headway 10Ah cells that were put away fully charged over four years ago (maybe 5+) All of them so far (14 Battery space and 10 Headway cells tested so far) have bee...

If the controller has a self learning function, make sure that it is not enabled (usually two white wires with black connectors, plugged into each other)

Re: Mystery 18-FET controller
Update. That's interesting... It still doesn't work with the ebike tester, but works fine on a motor. I hooked it up to an old Crystalite 408 motor, and it worked fine.. Didn't even have to mix and match hall and phase connectors even without using the self learn function. Color to color. After hour...

Re: Mystery 18-FET controller
Have you figured out any more tricks to make this work? Here is the connection diagram supplied by the seller: ConnectionsController.jpeg I just got the 48-72V version and the normal way of connecting things just don't seem to work. Have swapped all the hall and phase wires and throttle wires around...

Re: New battery deal. Vapor ware battery inc.
I'm in the middle of re-testing my batch of 20 AH ones (purchased three years ago) right now. I'm finding it interesting that the ones that have sat on a shelf ( fully charged, DOH! I didn't know abut 'storage charge' back then) are down to about 17.7AH on average, while the ones that have been in o...

Re: New battery deal. Vapor ware battery inc.
At that price, I'd probably buy some, even though I don't need any that big. Heck, if you could get me the 40AH ones for that price I'd be tempted to buy 16 of them right now Investigate shipping requirements for getting them to your customers before you make a decision though; Unless you are just p...

Re: Hobby King and Lipo batteries
I bought about 10 each of the 6S and 4S 5200 mah Multi-stars. Two of the 4S packs each had a cell that was weak... usable, but enough that the LV alarm went off when the other three cells were around .25 or .35 V higher, if I remember correctly. I emailed them a couple of images.. One with a CBA tes...

Re: Battery Space 20AH Prismatic LiFePO4 tests
Just an update... I finally got around to using some of these batteries... in a 16S configuration for a 3 wheel electric 'pickup' cart. For about five charge cycles they worked fine: An occasional burst of 45 A for maybe 20 seconds at a time, mostly 22-25 A for a minute at a time. and then 15-18 A t...

Dang Dan, Very sorry to hear about the event. Glad that insurance & etc. is working out OK. Lead-acid isn't looking all that bad to me all of a sudden. And motivated right now to put more thought in building a dedicated charging shed with a few hundred pounds of sand above some sort of breakaway...
