Re: slow balancing with Bestech BMS

it is not gonna burn down your house. if the BMS has gone to HVC then it shuts off the charging and it does not restart until you discharge the battery until the cell voltages drop below the reset voltage. you have to avoid focusing on stuff these people say who do not know how the BMS works. but y...

Re: slow balancing with Bestech BMS

My Hyperion only stays in balance mode for a few mins and gets them within 8 thousands of a volt and that is for homemade A123 packs. ( it says 3 but the fluke says about 8 )

How long does this bms normally take to balance ?

And how do you adjust the lvc for lipo ?

Re: 24s BestechPower BMS Thread

I've just got to mention that the highest adjustable low voltage level is 3.0V. Do you really want to run your lipo cells down to 3.0V when they are at 0% soc at 3.4V? I'm very conservative with my 24s pack and have the controllers lvc set to ~88V. It cuts power when the pack reaches 9% soc and ave...

Re: slow balancing with Bestech BMS

I just installed a Bestech D166-18S on a brand new 18S hobby king lipo pack and have been trying to let it balance. The pack is made of 6S, 5,000 mAh sub-packs. It's been charging for 4 days with the charger set to 4.25 volts per cell and while may cells have now come up to the HVC and are between ...

Re: Cost of Batteries Not Dropping

I have never seen them this low before.

http://www.buya123batteries.com/category_s/1515.htm

With the good service I have had with A123m1 cells from 2006 I am thinking these could last as long as Windows 7 ? (2020) :)

Maybe longer ?

They last so long the price per ride is so low ? :)

Fair enough; he wasn't a noob when his lipo battery burned down his house. I first took note of him when he popped up this spring with a Walmart bike and 125V of Hobby King lipo, so I sort of assumed he was a noob just from that. Re: Installing a BMS for Lipo - How to?

I put little 5 amp inline fuses on the balance leads on the packs I build.

I don't ever use the balance leads to charge. Just balance and sense the voltage.

Some complain the Hyperion will read an error and shut down too quick.

It is so picky about sense wire connections.

I worked at the Strohs can plant and made beer cans. Sometimes we were all scrapping cans. Even the slightest mistake on the label would cause many cans to be scrapped. They were scrapped at the plant. It was real important to them that no one saw a strohs can with a flawed label. When I worked at S...

Re: Installing a BMS for Lipo - How to?

The best way I know of to monitor a pack while charging is with a Hyperion hooked to a display. That gives the most feedback about what is going on. BMS gives little feedback. If you do not understand what is on the Hyperion display then it is noise to you ? I am thinking if you can not understand w...

Re: Installing a BMS for Lipo - How to?

I know how they work and know how they fail. I know about how quality rc balance chargers fail sometimes too. HK lipo is very prone to exploding if overcharged and should be monitored closley while being charged. A good rc charger helps to monitor closely. The good news is that rc lipo can be charge...

These type of cells should be monitored closely while being charged and should be charged with a good quality rc lipo battery balance charger. If you do not know how to use a good rc balance charger then you should not be trying to charge these types of rc lipo cells. Counting on a low cost bms to t...

Yes but for a real short time. The packs were hooked together when the ride started and they discharged nicely together. I do 7s 18650 and 8s A123 now. Most simple 7s makita and 8s A123m1. You can charge and discharge them together. If dr bass's new cells stay balanced like the old ones that would b...

Those last pictures may look too simple but it took a lot of study and testing to get to that setup. Those posts show the most simple extender packs. This is how we do it in Florida. :)

Every one I know that does this uses A123m1 cells for the main pack because of their super cap ways. :)

And 18650 cells for the extender packs because of their lightweight ways. :)
