Re: Raised Bed Gardening - Cement Blocks > Greenhouse!

Living at 51° North in Germany December days are short, sun is rare and shadows are very long. Our main winter problem is the darkness and lack of irradiation, not so much the cold, if you have cold tolerant plants. this is what I grow in my small cold frame in winter. Sheeting is Plexiglas Alltop (...

Re: My Sun Trip Bike, Back to Back Tandem Trike with Rowing Generator, Pedals, +Solar

Yepp, I have seen that solar velomobile before. An efficient velomobile needs around 200W for riding at 45km/h. Maybe 300W if you include the solar generator incl. mounting. A 500W solar generator is able to produce 2500Wh on a okayish day, so in theory you are able to use 250W battery power for 10 ...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

Overall, the decreases in peak daily solar watts seem too high to me to be explained by panel degradation alone. I remember Justin commenting on the fact that it was very rainy during the second half of the trip. If it was overcast all day, the daily peak would be much lower. Maybe that's part of i...

Re: My Sun Trip Bike, Back to Back Tandem Trike with Rowing Generator, Pedals, +Solar

.... what does the data say about strategies for winning The Sun Trip 2020 ? If you manage to ride 200km/day on average you will be in the top 10, maybe top 5, if you manage to ride 250km/day you are in the range of the winner, so someone who rides 300km/day should be able to win. The TCR Europe 20...

Other candidates are 35E, VTC6, M29, HG2, 50E, ….. You should do what you prefer. Ist is your setup and y...

New data, PF, M36 and GA 350 cycles, 29E 300 cycles. We are slowly approaching to 500 cycles, which rises question to Pajda : should we continue beyond this target or start to cycle new cells instead ? Does cycling beyond 500 cycles provide information interesting enough to give reasons for such lo...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

This is electroluminescence, right? Driving current trough the panel in reverse causes each cell to emit infrared light which is picked up by the Sony camera. The magnet is a trick for disabling the IR filter in the camera. The cracks in your image are micro-cracks which are otherwise invisible to ...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

This is what I got from China. It is far from being the cheapest stuff (ETFE lamination at ca. 3€/W) and it still is able to produce the 50W it has been advertised. So if you notice that your cheap semi flexible panels already produce less power than advertised their cells will look even worse than ...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

The USA has a radical new bill that is moving through congress. Studied by Columbia University, HR763 would tax Carbon right where it comes out of the ground domestically (it ideally needs to be a world level law eventually but these types of world level things are still almost impossible). Since i...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

So you are blaming the remaining 80% of Germany's energy that it still produces via fossil Carbon, on everyone else that imports it's finished products? No I don't. Germany now is emitting around 800Mt of CO2e/year. If you take import and export of goods into account that number stays more or less ...

Cephalotus you aren't rich, you are describing lower middle income for a developed nation. There is no reason that 2 billion people couldn't live entirely at that standard or better. But not if the top 1% are allowed not only 90% of the wealth but also 90% of the political influence as they are now...

? ..do they understand the role of Carbon in Cement and Steel making ? . Steel can made with green hydrogen, which is exactly what Sweden plans to to with ALL of its steel production, see project Hydrit. Cement can also be produced with greatly reduced CO2 emissions, Heidelberg cement is working on...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

I have to agree with hillhater on this one the problem is so widespread and ingrained we fool ourselfs that it can be fixed in 20 years or so. 50 years ago people believed that it was impossible to feed 8 billion people. Simply impossible. Yet look at where we are now. There are more obese people i...

This was the guess at the beginning that they don't like soldering.

But later spot welded packs had shown the exact similar behavior.

It seems that 9 out of 10 packs fail after just some months of use, because single cells of 30Qs do develop heavy self discharging Can we trust German Pedelecforum single cell vaper/pedalers? If there is any(!) way to get the power and speed needed from sub 60V DC I would never ever go to 100V DC. At least in my Country anything above 60V DC needs special cables and systems (the orange stuff in electric cars). You are responsible to prevent anyone from touching that voltages. From a tech...
