Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Someone had better get that conversion plan moving,...there are still periods when wind and solar can only produce less than 10% of the demand. Already happens. The last critical grid situation was in February 2012 and during that time Germany saved France from blackouts, not otherwise. BUT... I th...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Then on top if you look at the REAL-WORLD DATA on wind/solar renewables you don't on any notable level actually cut co2 emissions. This is the amazing reality mainstream media and politics ignore.. Because its all about the politics and financial gains pushing this crap, not science or logic. Look ...

German Utility company ENBW will build a 175MW solar power plant in Brandenburg, East Germany. This is a solar power plant without any suibsidies which just will sell electricity at market Prices. This is just the start of "phase 2" :-) https://www.pveurope.eu/News/Markets-Money/Germany-Utility-EnBW...

I'm not arguing much about the low fat vs. low carb discussion. This sounds more like an religious thing to me. Obviously Homo sapiens can thrive on both and any mix between both. If you want a list on studys on keto diet look at those (mostly in English): https://www.inutro.com/ketogene-diaet#quell...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Denmark has done well growing a domestic industry producing wind turbines that employs many thousands. I'm sure ex-coal industry people could be redeployed (probably into cleaner jobs). Politians fear the voters in those regions in 2019. There is always more opposition when things chnage than there...

Germany plans to phase out electricity production from coal by 2038 This includes shutting down around 12GW of coal power plants in just 3 years parallel to shutting down the last nukes by 2022. How much total loss from the nukes? What is the plan to replace that much generation in 3 years? Something around 7-8 GW. Some of those powerplants are not needed, some coal power plants will go into "cold reserve" for emergency, there will be some new gas peakers and there are also some other idea...

The only realistic way at -40°C ist to keep the batteries warm when usng them and especially when charging them LTO can handle 0°C quite well and this is because the usual limit for cahrging at low temperatures is the graphit anode Using other methods will quickly destroy your battery when charging ...

Latest tech LED means simply that instead 3 LED you would need only one for thesame light output best technology is using more(!) LEDs and use special mirrors to direct the light the way you want to have it. If you use one LED you often get something like a torch, especially if you wnat to have soe...

Economy. energy, population, are correlated nearly 1:1:1. And population is predicted to increase a further 30% before it can begin going back down. We have only 20-30 years of affordable oil left. It will leave us before we are ready to leave it. Oil consumption is already falling in countries lik...

One is "walk away safe" or "passively safe." No matter what happens, you can walk away and nothing bad will happen. Another is "passive cooling safe." Doing some very simple things makes the reactor able to cool itself after a shutdown. Another is "active cooling required." Most reactors are this w...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Building 60-80 GW of thermal back up is certainly cheaper than building 300-400gW of Wind /solar, but no nation can build all of that without some impact on their economy. Our economy is fine. Privatley for me energy prices are perfectly fine. I could very easy pay twice or three times per kWh for ...
