Re: The Cycle Satiator, universal charger for the enthusiasts
Hello, I would like it very much if the Cycle Satiator could also evaluate a "temperature signal" (10k NTC) from a lithium-ion battery in the future. On the one hand, I would find such a temperature display interesting, but it is also a safety feature to be able to reduce the charging curr...

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing
..., so if any generalization from me then it is this one. "Use HP cell only in apps where you need high continuous discharge rate like 3C or more, if your averege is well below 1C with short peaks, which is the case of the most traction apps, then use HE cells". OR if you want to charge ...

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing
VTC6 is definitely NMC, I don't think the LG cells are NCA either. There is way to much wrong information around, so it is very difficult to know. Actually VTC-6 is a NCA cell, while HG2 is (seems to be) a 811 NMC cell, both in combination with a C+Si anode, as spectroscopic analysis shows: https:/...

Re: Tesla battery day announcement
Maybe i should have said, “who needs a car battery that lasts 15+ years”... ? Unless all other components on the car are also going to be reliable for 15+ yrs,...its not a big advantage. That's the cool thing about BEV. Nothing inside that brakes... Of course I woul like a car that last 30 years or...

Re: BionX display using Bluetooth
The BionX DS3 display is just a dumb display. No information is stored there. (it's different with the BionX Gen 2 console/display) Use the standard firmware 4.0 or the firmware 4.1 that includes the debug screen and that's it. No need to "program" anything if the DS3 display does have a f...

Re: EV charging prices in Europe increase 500%
, if you want to charge for cheap your own solar system is helpful with charging costs for solar electricity at 9ct/kWh. But, every kWh you divert to charge your EV is a kWh you do not have for use in the house !..so you would have to replace it with a grid supplied kWh at market prices. Effectivel...

Re: EV charging prices in Europe increase 500%
79ct/kWh is the maximum price. You can use other tariffs to use the Ionity system with prices around 30-40ct/kWh, which is not so far away from typical household tarifs and okay for occasional(!) super quick charging. Super fast chargers are not meant for everyday charging if you have other options ...

Re: Best Li-ion cell model for ebike pack?
Almost all lage battery packs built with those cells (edit: 30Q) have failed in the pedelecforum.de, as users have reported over here. There is no possibility to repair those packs, the cells fail one after one. Only very few people report no issues. Maybe this 30Q cell was never intended to be used...

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing
Yes it would be good to have another cylce test, with lets say: 5A for LG M36 and MJ1 5-10A for 29E7 and M29 10-15A for HG2 and VTC6 with 2A charge current or so That would be way closer to how the cells usually being used in real world. Typically the battery in an electric bike should/will last fo...

Re: One stop for solar charging ebike info?
I do recommend "semiflexible" panels wit Sunpower cells. Use moduls with PTFE coating, NOT PET coating. Do NOT treat them as semiflexible panels, they need a very riged surface to mount them. If you let them flex the cells will brake and output power will degrade quicky. Do NOT use high vo...

Re: Im going RC LiPo - General advice / BMS / Charger
That's my point. 1. Don't use cheap cells, especially do not use cheap cells that are optimized for anything but safety. 2. If you build a battery pack build it as safe as possible. 3. Do not abuse it 4. If it catches fire you better have it in a place where fire and smoke are contained. This is qui...

i was thinking more along the lines of this https://youtu.be/Rv_3vwSZmzA?t=51 Useless, too: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WR-Rw0PLgpA Every one of us carries a lipo pack in their pocket next to their balls, relying on BMS only. No, this is not a LiPo pack, it is a single cell with voltage and tem...

Re: Im going RC LiPo - General advice / BMS / Charger
I'll put it in a lipo safe. I know many people are afraid of rc lipo. I belive risk is greatly minimised when the pack is monitored closely. Thats why I'm asking for BMS/Charger recommendations Lipo safe? somthing like that? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qQldY7fKn5o Does not even work for small b...

Re: Im going RC LiPo - General advice / BMS / Charger
You will need a very good fire insurance and this will propably cost much more in the end as the cheap cells.
If just 1 large LiPo pack out of 1000 burns down a house it is a bad idea from the economic point.

Moreover, voltage of fully charged 30Q No3 is falling quite fast, also had some strange discrepancy during after 700 cycles SOC measurement. It seems to me that Cephalotus´s (and SamRich´s) remarks on 30Q bad reputation are based on true facts: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&a...

Hello @justin_le and others, I watched your Youtube video using an old BioX motor with a phase runner: https://youtu.be/Wc8OJtFRUng 1st question: Do you have any idea if it would be possible to use that 350Ohm gauge sensor on the bionX axcle to make a Pedelec conform e-bike with a BionX hub motor an...

Re: Li-ion cells cycle ageing
It takes about 11 weeks to do 500 cycles. My intention is to finish testing at latest 700 cycles. I suppose for most of community will be 700 cycles data informative enough and testing another cells will be more interesting. Moreover, we haven´t enough time frame for long term testing. It is your t...
