Re: Tesla Model 3

OT since it was a Model S, but the video is pretty scary  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jznDBN_FBH0 They're suspicious that it was some kind of staged event. Looks like a classic YouTube lipo pack-stabbing fire video, except car-sized and with no one there to stab it. The thing that really...

Re: SAMSUNG INR18650-29E cycle test.

I was thinking that this is probably one of the most interesting in house 18650 cell cycling tests to see total capacity over time I have seen. I was wondering if I have missed subsequent tests on ES forums, that would be for any lithium cell, not just 29E.. Has anyone else done tests like this? I a...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

Yes. Skimming the first 10 minutes of intro out of a 4 hour video series isn't going to be very enlightening. Like reading the preface of a book and calling it done. I know 4 hours is a lot. That's why I always recommend for newcomers to start with the 1:20 Earth Day 2017 presentation. This is a fa...

Re: Tesla Model 3

I thought this mini-documentary on Tesla's current issues was pretty interesting, its pretty balanced if anything. https://youtu.be/Kgm85SB_lqg?t=1781 ^I really find the bit on the subsidies quite interesting. Most companies get berated for losing a lot of executives in a short period of time, as a ...

Re: Tesla Model 3

Like said before, Panasonic owns all of Tesla's cell making gear. And it's even in their partner contract that if Tesla can't sell the cells in its products then Panasonic can sell them to anyone else they want, and its now expected Panasonic is going to sell some lithium cells to Toyota! https://tw...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

While you guys reference fake baloney stories with no respectable URLs or data and live in the world of BBC, ABC & CNN news, the real information waits for you on the internet to finally get clued up. Solar panels are a massive contributor to radioactive sludge. https://www.unscear.org/docs/publicat...

Re: Tesla Model 3

With factories coming in places like china an Europe to support local model 3 production and other lower priced cars it would not make sense to expand production to far in North America. The fact you think the China factory even had a chance of coming online shows you are seriously out of touch wit...

Re: Tesla Model 3

$100/kWh for 18650 Tesla cells implies approx 83 cells. (12Wh per cell). And hence $1.20 per cell. Electrek states ther are 7-9 kg of cobalt in a 70 kWh Tesla pack...so approx 0.11 kg per kWh And with 83 cells, that means approx 0.0013 kg per cell At $30,000/tonne for cobalt, that represents $0.039...

In reference to the core of the solar panel being recycled rather than just its aluminium frames, https://youtu.be/0L_lzUhitx8 Fact is very little is now recycled in Australia in general due to ever increasing energy costs. Germany already has nearly 2X wind and solar capacity but it averages about 40% of electricity annually. Which is only 9% of their total primary energy annually. . Scale . Exactly, and if you look on more exact websites you will see the "name plate installed capacity" on a lot of states is signific...

New large coal power station has got the green light to be built in Germany, as they shut down their old nuclear power-stations which are of course their biggest source of dispatchable 24/7 low co2 electricity. https://twitter.com/Elstatistik/status/1109472743853051909 https://www.uniper.energy/de/d...

Re: Tesla Model 3

A lot of people are saying that it will be impossible for Tesla to make a profit on the 35k M3. Most of Tesla's profits in its most profitable quarter were from US government carbon credits that it receives on EV sales. Those have pretty much gone now as the end of 2018 was the deadline to be able t...

Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

This is a great article on Molten Solt Reactors if anyone is curious.. Electrek.co the home for the Super hardcore Tesla lovers has put out negative news about Tesla.
