Re: Electric Motorcycle / Bicycle Project

Deep into my 3rd one now... Going for a complete assembly and lower weight. First was ~9 lbs. on bike (pictured) with sensorless, bike was just sub 40 lbs. It had a top speed of 37mph (not power limited), about 12 miles topped out and 20+ while conservative. Sorry for the quality: http://www.pinkbik...

Re: Electric downhill/freeride bike

I finished my electric specialized enduro up this winter break. The original bike weighs in at 31.25 #, with a rc drive 39.6 #. The battery is 12s 2p 5Ah lipo weighs 7 pounds in the backpack. It does 37 mph easily (up small grades) and gets about 12 miles of conservative trail riding, 16 miles conse...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

The thread is extremely long.
Is there a way to use the cycle analyst V3 to turn a rc controller system into a current based throttle instead of speed based?

Re: Another BB mount bike

I have been messing around with some mounting designs today and found that the two pivot locations bolts are fixed (don't rotate).
A simple shaft collar mount in combination with the 2 pivot points should give enough rigidity.

I talked to toolman2 about them.
There is a thread that split off of the 12kW colossus motor thread yesterday on the later.

Re: Another BB mount bike

I read some posts, and the motor has a thermal threshold continuous value of about 1.3kW.
It should be fine to peak it out to >3kW for short period (<15 seconds).

Re: Electric downhill/freeride bike

Side by side drag race.
I have made videos before and know that videos do not show acceleration, speed, or bad-ass-ness.
By doing a comparison between a bike most people have ridden and a 4-7kW electric everyone can get I better Idea were these projects stand on the performance end of things.

Re: Electric downhill/freeride bike

I am almost copying this design, but flipped the motor and battery so that the motor is higher and the 10-30 pound battery is the lowest thing and the bike will about 2 inches wider. Time to post a video of you taking on a dirt bike so that we have a reference for how much power it has (THIS SHOULD ...

Re: Electric Motorcycle / Bicycle Project

Has anyone tried to drag a dirt bike with about a 5kW motor so that I can get a better idea of the power?
I ride some trail/mx when I get the chance to go with my uncle and friends.

Re: Electric Motorcycle / Bicycle Project

If you are only using 5KW why not use a C80100 motor instead?
Also, have you tried your controller up to the 200+ amp mark yet?

Re: Another BB mount bike

Could you point me to one so that I can see there solution? Edit: I spent some time searching, and yes I agree that they are not up to the 3500 watt peak that I want. The final solution is interesting because the gearbox they found is rated for less peak than the bane bot. I think it may have someth...
