Re: Hearing protection while riding

With the winter lining, I have no wind noise, and my hearing of the environment is almost the same. In the summer, I don’t feel the need, and I don’t wear a helmet most of the time. So, I have no problem, despite what you seem to think. uhh... ...I don’t wear a helmet most of the time. So, I have n...

Re: Hearing protection while riding

Mad, what kind of helmet are you using. Motorcycle helmet? Yep. A Bell Pit Boss carbon. I have bough the winter liner and a clear visor to complete well theres your problem. You bought a poser helmet with no real protection. Buy a real helmet, and the wind noise will be almost non-existant (and you...

Re: R Martin EVD Moped with HubMonster

I've been hunting for another of these motors or moped. I did find a motor a couple of weeks ago, but it had already been sold. If I want to drive 1800 miles, I found another R Martin. I was hoping for something a bit closer. Maybe I can get the seller to crate up the bike and ship it to me. If you...

Re: Wheelies

Seems to me wheelies -- controlled wheelies -- have almost nothing to do with power. There are two kids -- 10 or 12 -- live just along the road from me that spend hours riding back and fourth 50 or 60 meters at a time with the front wheels of their 24" mtbs at head height. Correct. There are 2 basi...

Re: R Martin EVD Moped with HubMonster

Random thought... if you took one of those hub motors that bolted to the rim, and instead bolted a chainring on it... would it be a good choice for a gokart motor? I mean you could gear it up or down a bit to match the wheel size... although 1:1 is probably about right since you want good accelerati...

Re: Wheelies

I learned on 50cc pitbike motards... started with them, then dirtbikes, then sportbikes.
wheelies on ebikes that have amp or torque based throttles is easy.
wheelies on ebikes that use speed throttles or laggy throttles is a bit harder.

I kinda want to make the boat equivalent of this:

Something the size of yours with an enormous engine poking out of it. Sure an EV boat would be cool too, but it wouldnt have the same "joke" factor in it.

Re: Anyway of making the R martins from china sold on Ali express road legal in U.S.

The act of importing them for road use is federal.
The act of registering, titling and how you may drive them on the road is state.

so its a mess.

YES! I nearly forgot about them because I always have them. If you dont have good mirrors... get some. Just go on ebay, and if you dont like the bicycle mirrors, start looking at motorcycle bar end (or other kind) of mirrors. Want stalks? You can get CNC aluminum perches for a couple dollars. They'r...

Ignoring the fact there are countries other than the USA.... Just in the USA there are 50 states, and all of them individually have their own different laws for classifying and registering vehicles.
so no matter what you say... theres probably a state where you're wrong.

Re: Torque / Speed Help - DIY 800W 36V Scooter build - 11F / 74R Sprockets - GoPed conversion

That ESR750, Was that a lithium ion battery and brushless motor? All of them run the same brushed DC motor. You can get them in lead acid or lithium, but the difference is weight and range, not top speed or acceleration. If you get an upgraded motor, you can accelerate faster or gear it to go faste...

Re: Challenge with brakes

My guess is that those mounts are for some kind of lock, not a brake. I once had a similar puzzle in trying to fit a rear brake on a de-electrified junky e-bike that had previously used a band brake. I ended up mounting a long reach caliper brake under the kickstand plate. In my case, losing the ki...

Re: Assembling a safe fast ebike

I'm probably more "active" on the bike than most... when I am braking extremely hard, I put my weight back and down.. under max braking the seat is actually in-front of me, and im ducking over the rear wheel. lol. No worries of flip over, just max traction braking... I will say it is MUCH easier to ...

Re: Assembling a safe fast ebike

so to answer the original questions... I am a very experienced sportbike rider. First are brakes of course. 90% of ...

Re: Using bicycle's frame as heatsink for the Phaserunner

Seems there are various threads about heatsinks for the Phaserunners. wonder why there ain't a 12 FET version available? Or even bigger? Seems a lot of people love what the phaserunner does, but after seeing these threads it seems some would want a higher FET version of the phaserunner. What kind o...

Re: where can i find this cable to the hub motor?

teklektik is correct about the lack of strain relief. If you use marine heatshrink it has hot glue inside so you dont need as many layers... although the best way I have found is to put some hotglue in there for strain relief, let it cool enough, then put heatshrink on, and heat the whole thing with...

Re: Using bicycle's frame as heatsink for the Phaserunner

you guys are really overthinking this. if you run the phaserunner to the point that it needs such a big heatsink, it will eventually fail from its inability to shed the heat to the outer heatsink over time... its a tiny 6fet controller. The PR has a very good rollback mechanism, and as I understood...

Re: How to measure amps

well, as you know, you need to measure the voltage drop across the shunt to calculate amps. so what you need to do is measure this voltage. since the arduino measures 0 to Vcc (about 5v) it wont tell you much directly about the milivolts you're trying to measure. you need an op amp. I started to typ...

the magnet is very brittle and hard to re-connect once broken.
Wouldn't the two half just stick together? North pole to south.
its not strong enough to stay together that way inside your throttle. this isnt a very strong magnet.
