Re: What is the most power you gave your stock GNG?

I tried 90A phaseamp at 100v but it wasnt possible to regulate the that amount of Power. From the test i made i like it best around 3,5kw so i set the amp limit to 35A. Then there is plenty of power for wheelies and fun. I got a theory that the high voltage and rpm is giving the motor a little more ...

Re: GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

I haven't posted much in here lately, mostly because my kit has been incredibly reliable these last few months. Only problem I get is the odd chain drop after getting too much air. It's ugly, but it works great at 4000w :) I accidentally destroyed one of the motor sprocket teeth while welding the s...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

That seems to be where I am ending up too. 100V at 30 amps through a Lyen 12FET controller. Multiple gearing to be determined. That is 30amps continuous. peak who knows - too much?? :-) It´s a good idea to set the phase-amps about 40a at 100v. Power get much more controllable compared to the same w...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

bad thing is that most graphs end at very low power... the most reason why i never indented to invest in this (GNG) drive... i guess it will get lossy well below <2kW even at 48V. Nothing real special...you'd need 72V but can't pedal any more so..wtf? i think that my bafangs really can do better i ...

durable +2kw derailleur system

One key thing to solve after riding hotrodded GNG:s for a year now is the last reduction-stage. Things that come to my mind is: -I really like the option to shift, but 3 speed is enough. -The bicycle chain can handle enourmos amounts of Power, do we really need bmx-halflink for 2-6 kw? -Is the short...

Re: El Supreme GNG

For a more simple way of charging i can recommend a permanent installed lipo-bms. Bzhwindtalker run these with success and i am building my pack with similar ones now. http://www.bestechpower.com/balanceboard/HCX-D103C.html Then you dont need to disconnect for parallellcharging. Just make sure your ...

Re: BIG BLOCK GNG alternative Motor

I got 24s on two bikes with Lyen Infineon controllers. They like 24s except for when motorshaft was mechanically locked, then i had to replace one FET... An important thing to consider with these motors and controllers is how to get the Power manageable. The 24s/GNG setup really shines on the upperb...

That´s an interresting cool build Joe, thanks. There is no pedals in this build since it´s useless to add 200w human Power when you got >3kw Electric. Now i´m considerring swingarm-bearings, needle or balls? It´s hard to find RS-capsuled needlebearings without using a bushing. I got this d...

I like the cooperation idea. However the swingarm will be a main custom part of this project since the motor is integrated in the swingarm construction. Dont think any existing swingarm could do that job.

Re: GNG, 1000W 48V BB-drive, $400

One of the ideas that I've been playing with is to experiment with the middle three positions of a 5 cog freehub and see if a strong BMX chain would side flex enough to allow derailleur shifting between three cogs. Derailleur chain has to both side flex and twist in order to jump from one cog to an...

You might need a pulling-tool or try the Dirty way, lift the whole bike in the freewheel and tap with a hammer on the shaft. Be carefull not to damage the threads.

Ivé tried Three different frames; Kona Stinky(2004), Specialized bighit(2004) and a Scott Gambler(2009). The Bighit didnt have room for batteries, i had a backpackbatt. The suspension had a ridicculous swaying when accellerating. Otherwise that frame was very smooth on the trails. Kona Stinky is nic...

The 24S 100v driven Kona hit 50mph (80kph) once. Flat road.
Then i tried a bigger front chainring,50t but there was some strange skipping with the chain when pushing >6kw down the driveline with that setup. Did only reach 68kph. Haeven´t figured it out yet.
