Re: LR Big Block Motoped

.....A smaller wheel is like lower gearing. It reduces top speed and increases torque...... Not intending to be pedantic or critical, but that comment is misleading..(as im sure you are aware ) Reducing the wheel diameter will reduce the speed, but does not change the “torque” (Nm) at the wheel, it...

That is looking great larsb. The new wheels are very cool too! And performance sounds excellent. Good thing the brakes are bigger! One thing I notice, your battery is mounted very high and there looks like plenty space to stack them vertically inside the frame, do they not fit? Even parallel to the ...

Re: Rieju 50cc conversion

Wow that looks promising! I'm sure the qs motor will safely do those rpm but just be careful how many amps you are using at that voltage. Good to think about it as kVA max so more V means less A for given max kVA otherwise insulation starts failing because of heat and wear and high voltage spikes qu...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion

Hi Tony. No problem. This would give you more torque because the gearing is a multiplier. So if your ratio is 1.5 motor turns to 1 shaft turn, you get 1.5x the torque at the wheels. So better acceleration, climbing power etc. More likely to sustain motorway speeds as the power needed above 60 will b...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion

Hi Tony I'm sorry I've taken so long to respond, and my sketching is rubbish tonight, but here's the idea. Use a flat mount bearing mounted to a plate perpendicular to the drive shaft uj. Mount uj (or adapter shaft to uj) through bearing and mount pulley to other side. I'd use something off the shel...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion

Hi Tony There's an opportunity to have more space by mounting the motor below and behind the shaft output with a simple belt reduction between them. Really simple setup that can be part of the battery mount cage and save weight and cost also. Just food for thought that this wouldn't cost a lot and t...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion

Hi guys , after quite a bit of digging on out forum I found : Final Drive: Enclosed shaft with integrated dampers, 2.833:1 Therefore I believe for every 2.833 turns of the input splined shaft , I should have one full revolution output of the wheel..... therefore if have up to 6000 turns of the inpu...

Hi bjork I understand your concept, similar to motorcycle front axles. I'll try sketch it. Cheers Tyler Modified original sketch as a guide, adapt to suit your motor/swingarm. Remember if you recess the nuts, make it big enough for a socket to turn the nut, mustn't be tightened a lot as bjork said,...

Re: Denzel 72v 4-spd Gearbox Build 125cc Dual Sport

Hi skeetab I suspect actually you are using too high a gear rather than using the motor revs a bit more. Like going to top gear when you can't hit half the top seed is just putting lots of current through the motor. Seems like maybe something has shorted also. See if there's any burnt smell in the m...

The Japanese Mitsubishi i-MIEV he lithium titanate cells and a 45kw motor ideal for your build. Don't know if you could import one? Nice thing is the battery out lasts the car so will have loads of life left.

Re: Conversion Honda motorcycle to electric 96v - 8000w hubmotor - 6.3kWh

Plus these blocks will be slot stronger than the steel plates that come with the motor, thicker and larger surface area for the axle to locate on. Plus they make fitting the motor into the box section swing arm lot simpler and stronger. It's probably the best solution for fitting a hub motor into a ...

Re: New Project " help Please" Honda st1300 Conversion

Hi Tony Range depends very much on use. Lots of accelerating or cruising at sustained higher speeds uses a lot of power. If you plan to do lots of motorway speeds, look at the different range ev bikes get at different speeds and estimate that way. The 20kw motor won't be stellar in performance but i...
