Re: Virginia To Impose Annual Fees On Hybrid Car Owners

As a Northern Virginia resident, what you unfortunately miss is the commonwealth details. Income and taxes for the state largely come from the northern area, which gets sunk into the rest of the state. While I may not agree with this, there are other details: I pay property tax on my cars. I have a ...

Teensy3 CellLog/BMS/Bluetooth

So, I've had quite a few issues with my batteries (prepackaged from ElectricRider) and I've become somewhat unnerved by the lack of insight into actual cell states, so I had the idea of replicating a CellLog into something a bit more flexible, and then I saw matterrr's post I re-energized my concept...

Re: Active pre-charge/inrush control

Two quick questions: 1) Is it possible to use regen with this? For some reason my electrical knowledge and research is failing me, I venture to say yes but my lack of understanding makes me ask. 2) I have two 36v batteries. Originally, I was going to setup two sets of 6 4110's, in order to do low si...

Also, if you happen to be using the 'Short circuit my throttle wire' method of control, please ensure your controller is OFF before you disconnect the CA to re-route the wire.

Re: Wearing a motorcycle helmet

After having been in a few crashes, if I'm going over 35 I want as much protection as I can get. When I see people biking without helmets, riding around traffic it just makes me sad. My state (Virginia) actually requires eye protection and gloves for motorcycles, simply because flying debris can eas...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I believe I have reached the first measure of success, reading (almost) all the memory values into an appropriate array. I then used Justin's Excel file to build a memory map to load the bytes into usable values, which then left me with this: http://www.hatefulbastard.com/ca_readvalues.png I've comm...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I'll vote for "Configuration Mode", but I care little of what it says, functionality is all the same. Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Justin, I figured I would start with attempting to read some data first, before I go attempting to write things. Following the guide above, I've got it into bootloader mode, and have the following being sent: 0x55, 0x55, 0x05, 0x04, 0x01, 0x02, 0x00, 0x00, 0x04 (my assumption would be read 1 byte fr...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Justin, If you include some of this in your next beta, along with the basic docs I'll commit to writing an API for comm in C#, then move a port to Java so it can be moved reused and OSS it. Since my bike is out of commission for a week or two, it'd be a fun interim project to see if we can help prom...

Justin: If you could do that... epic. What is the current address length of the storage values? Would it be possible to simply reuse those? Bart: It actually can vary slightly when we're dealing with various languages, aka Java your standard int tends to lend itself to a signed 32 bit integer, and a...

And here I was going to use my Arduino as the item to forward CA data to my phone, since I'm using it for other things on the bike. I actually have one of those Bluetooth modules sitting here, and the 3.3v would be easy enough to replicate. Justin: I know eeprom would be an easy mapping, but one thi...

Re: Kelly Controller or hall issue or?

To my knowledge, yes, assuming proper limits are put in place. Usually melting and burning is what'd cause failure from what I've seen. It'd seem odd for the controller to have a breaker in it, but I'm still rather new. Since you have that CA connected, can you try limiting it to 20 amps and give it...

Re: Manufacturers/Dealers to Gravitate Towards

I'll post my +1 for electricrider.com, ordered the kit a few weeks ago, arrived about a week later, the wiring *may* have been out on the motor but I shorted the reverse and everything went perfectly till I noticed my pack cut out way before the voltage dropped enough. After spending plenty of time ...
