Re: 300hp single seat off road buggy project

Here's what 65Kw can do in a 1240 lb vehicle:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W7qHHbTEPa0

That's scary enough winding out 2nd gear doing over 80 mph on the highway.

I can't imagine having 300 Kw of electric in a smaller frame.

Re: Crazy "knee" scooter.

Awesome. FWD it is. It was an older "Pride Victory" scooter. The stock controller was 70A model. The old scooter probably weighed 80 pounds and supported 350+ lb people in stock format, able to climb slight hills. This knee scooter probably weighs about 30 pounds. The Kelly does have a ramp function...

Crazy "knee" scooter.

Ok, so modified a mobility scooter a while back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ib5SEWjYTJ0 I machined out the wheel hubs to fit larger wheels and slight over-volted it with a 8S LIPO setup. It lasted for years, but the controller finally died the other day after hours of kids off-road abusing it. ...

Re: Electric motor swap ready bike. $350 pick up, Portsmouth

Please somebody, buy this. Please. I am trying to save up to buy a house with a garage so I have room for my toys and this is temptation supreme. The fact that I am only 6.5 hours away isn't helping. I've had one person come to look at it so far who lives nearby, but he needed to do a bit more plan...

Re: Electric motor swap ready bike. $350 pick up, Portsmouth

I finally swapped over the title to my name, so it's ready to transfer to the next buyer. I believe it said it was a 1994 Yamaha.

This is about as simple as an electric motorcycle donor chassis will ever be - ready to be fitted with the majority of standard motors often used in EV's.

Any interest?

Electric motor swap ready bike. (SALE PENDING)

SALE Bike was made to fit a electric already: Fits HPEVS AC-15, AC-20, or Motenergy / MARS / ETEK models like ME1003. Any of these style are ready to bolt on, adapter plate lined up and ready to go. Has battery mounts welded on as well. It originally had a bunch of 100AH CALB LiFePO4 cells, but can...

Re: Runaway Throttle, Interlocks, and Regulation

Story time: I recently had a bad throttle situation on my dune buggy. When driving around the previous day, my controller cutoff... so I knew something wasn't right. I pulled over safely, checked things out and couldn't find anything obvious, so I restarted the controller and everything seemed norm...

Re: My electric Volkswagen Sandrail (Dune Buggy).

The driveshaft is facing toward the front of the car (side with the fan is in the back). You can kind of see it in the pic above, attached to the rear transaxle. I realize the fan is designed to pull the air through the motor, then redirect it over the case. I'm not sure how great the air movement i...

Re: My electric Volkswagen Sandrail (Dune Buggy).

Ever since I downgraded from the 650A to the 550A model controller, it hasn't been able to keep up the continuous power handling with no water cooling. I happened to have some PC liquid cooling parts lying around, so I thought I'd give them a whirl. The radiator is hilariously small, but it's better...

12S LiFePO4 charger, 20A. (110v AC input)

Big charger with Anderson connector, 43.8v peak charge. This would also work on 11S Lipo to charge to about 3.98v each cell (about 80% capacity but still can be stored long term like this). PRICE DROP: Asking $85 shipped, USA only please. Pics: http://i.imgur.com/7EBm3yHh.jpg http://i.imgur.com/d3co...

Crazy idea: Wheelchair motor mid drive.

I had some wheelchair motors. These are insanely heavy duty brushed motors made for pushing fat people around town. The motor is 24v, and can be over-volted. It has a gear down reduction, and the shaft goes perpendicular (off the side) of the gearbox. It also has an indention that easily makes the w...

Re: Building a sporty EV. Need some help estimating performa

Nice mate does your motor have the internal motor encoder? Just be careful now its out of warranty because high amps can kill it which in turn blows the controller just speeking from experience. Cheers Kiwi I honestly didn't open the box that far to check. Is there an easy way to differentiate betw...

Re: Building a sporty EV. Need some help estimating performa

Thats good bro do you need the whole harness with the controller plugs? Cheers Kiwi I don't believe so; they have that in order as of yesterday, and it's finally ready to ship. Shouldn't be too much longer until I get all the goodies in the mail. I think the only thing I'm missing is the main pack ...

Re: KiwiEVs next project fast EV

If I connected up 49 s 1 p and used a solar controller i can get and program to charge to say 170 volts could I directly plug that into the Tesla pack and dump 20 kwh into it? I can find any sort of charge controller for that on the web. Cheers Kiwi As long as you're using a charge controller to li...

Re: Building a sporty EV. Need some help estimating performa

Ok, so here's the story: I bought the AC35x2 /w rear aux shaft second hand without the controllers, never used. I was hoping to quickly rig my own two controllers on it: 1238-7601 (650A) & 1238-7501 (550A) I then discovered that motor required a special wiring harness with opto-isolator to split the...

Re: KiwiEVs next project fast EV

That's a great idea, my pack only sags to 146 volts in the summer. We don't get many Tesla wrecks down in Australia yet the odd one or too but we have our names down, I could turn my Winston pack into a fast charger do you know if one more cell would be enough? Thanks Kiwi I'm not sure what you mea...

Re: KiwiEVs next project fast EV

So correct me if I'm wrong here. You're running 48S1P 160A Winston LiFePO4 cells. Going uphill you've got sag to 132v pack voltage, which equates to 2.75v per cell under max load. Total pack weight, 282 kg (620 lb) for ~24.5 kWh at 100% DOD. If you were to swap to Tesla modules, you could do 7S2P (m...

I suppose I should mention that this was a...
