Re: Big update to the biker bar & order of the forums

I didn't care about deleting all of my old posts - I just wanted to remove my profile here. No big deal. I've just developed a sour taste in my mouth when faced with a site that has forums for politics and all manner of OT things, but looks down on people who buy their ebikes instead of building the...

Re: Big update to the biker bar & order of the forums

Maybe I'm overlooking it, but is there a way for members to delete our own profiles? I can't seem to find one.

Re: Big update to the biker bar & order of the forums

Thanks for those posts, Amberwolf. The fact is, if the folk(s) running the site don't want a pre-built forum, then there won't be one. What I don't get is why there was, first, an enthusiastic 'Yes, great idea' and then, a few weeks later...this. Oh well, as noted there are other forums out there. I...

Re: Running a house on an e-motorcycle battery?

Ok, now I understand: you can't connect the solar system to the grid. That's a fairly common situation with DIY systems. I don't find grid-tied systems appealing, because with most of them you can't use the system to have power when the grid is down.

Re: Big update to the biker bar & order of the forums

The EBR forum seems more or less what I want. Thanks. (Although the font and colors are amazingly BAD.) I'll probably spend more time reading there, and less here, now. If it works better for you, great. You should just know that EBR is ran by a guy with little to know real mechanical/electrical kn...

Re: Big update to the biker bar & order of the forums

Can someone recommend a site that has forums for Pre-built e-bikes, and isn't moribund? I find it somewhat interesting to read the builds here, but that isn't my primary interest. Now that it's clear that this site isn't interested in people who ride pre-built bikes (despite an initial response to t...

Re: Just how smart are animals?

Intelligence varies per animal as it does with humans. There are genius cats and dogs, and stupid ones, with most being in between. We had a cat once who would use the toilet. We knew because he never managed to flush it.

Re: Giant LAFree Sport

I had one for years - the Sport Slope version. It was defective out of the box - the motor would shut down under a high load like crossing a busy street - and NYCEWheels kept insisting it was just a bad battery. After they sent me two new batteries, with no effect on the problem, they ignored me. It...

Re: 260v Dirt Bike 2021

I think Zeros are Crap, having owned a 2015SR and getting to ride it all of three times (isolation faults that the dealer knew about when they sold it to me, and that Zero also knew about and didn't reveal - I had to go through the BMS log myself), but it seems that if the OP wants a dirt bike with ...

Re: BMS destroyed my battery?!

Cold comfort for OP but this highlights the advantage of building packs so that the BMS is easily removed / replaced also ideally giving concurrent access to the balance leads while the BMS is in place. When the pack is not being cycled, disconnect the cells from any gadgetry, so they are isolated ...

I find it odd indeed that it's ok to talk endlessly about politics, but not about pre-built bikes. Put it under OT Discussions, if you like.

Maybe the rack would look better in the aqua color...? With rubber strips to protect the paint?

Re: The E Bike Act HR1019

If you're shopping for an electric bicycle, and I give you, and you only, $1,500 to help buy a nice one, then that's just good for you. If I give everyone $1,500 max, then the prices will go up so you pay the same. No, I pay $1500 less. People buying the bike 3 months later will likely pay about $1...

Re: Wireless Throttle, Ebike Trailer

I think that we aren't seeing wireless throttles for sale because of the risk of RF interference causing runaway motors. It should be possible to protect against that, but the issue does stand in the way of the usual cheap Chinese manufactured parts we generally see.

Re: What to do: Repair-Recell-replace battery, new kit or what?

If the original battery has the BMS attached (they usually do) then you'd need to get a new battery with BMS attached, and solder the two Pos & Neg cables coming from the BMS as described.

Re: Surly Instigator: Steel frame HT + Bafang BBS02 Mid-drive

You should be able to move the thumb throttle to the right side, above the bar. That's what I did with mine, and after a short acclimation period it works great that way. Every once in a while I have to think about whether I'm shifting or applying throttle, but no mishaps after 2+ years.
