Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I know there is an enhancement request in github for this. If the devs have some idea how to enhance this, I will help with beta testing. you could increase the advance angle at high speeds for field weakening by using an exponential function. But I don't know, if the calculation can be done in rea...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

So, motor is absorbing only 6 amps instead of the 18 amps you would like to, but that is a limitation of the BLDC motors, they say they has max torque at startup and it reduces to 0 at motor max speed. Ok so by increasing erps we can get more power near the high end. So we have done some very basic...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Eyebyecickle That's what happens when you hit the max cadence. When you use the high cadence mods it's actually really smooth and powerful at 90+ rpm but as mentioned above the power can start dropping off a little which I can't explain.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I managed to do some good testing of 0.18.2 in the past 3 weeks. A strange thing that I noticed is that in some cases even if the human power increases, the motor power in W drops. This happens at higher speeds. Also if I use assist of 0.6 and assist of 4 it is almost same difficulty to pass 42-43 ...

Re: LMX 64 : Freeride Ebike with dual drive and torque sensor

I was thinking along the same line, with PAS only you would surely smash into something, but was wondering if you could do Torque assist only, no throttle or brake cutouts just to reduce wiring and make it look more inconspicuous..

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Since I remember, there is a protection on firmware to stop assist if wheel speed is 0. I must check, the important is to make system robust to failures or inexistent sensors. Hi Casainho it was me that had this problem way back and had to peddle in most of the way to work without any assistance. A...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Regarding the sprag clutch...I know someone who has done it with a hammer but you can easily cause damage. My brother is a motor mechanic and he has a hydraulic press, it's just a car Jack mounted in a steel frame. We used a piece of steel tubing and pressed it out slowly. It was easy to do but if y...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Hi jbalat The temperature sensor should work, because it is managed directly by the casainho firmware, of course is not showed on VLCD6 display. :) :) :) Cool !! Hey I saw a picture of a fan inside the motor housing. What if we we could also initiate the fan above 75 degrees so that the motor start...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Hi Marco, I think some users would be willing to try your version because they don't need to change the display. However if there were some app to change the settings then that would make it more user friendly. I think the 2 versions can co-exist since some people want to see the data on the screen ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Im assuming these changes would work well for a 48V motor with a 52V battery? Why don't you test it and let us know ? It turns out the hailong 48V 10AH battery I bought to save a few $$(and grams) is a POS. After 10 or so rides the BMS shuts off at 43V and closer inspection shows that one of the pa...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I just installed version 16 on my friends bike and he wanted a high cadence version like mine. His motor is 48v, so this version below will work on both motor types He tested it for a minute or so and was quite happy. All I did was changed increased the motor speed cutoff limit and multiplied the n...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Hi gurus,

is anyone in a position to release v17 with the buba distance code and casainhos fast click stuff ?

I'm doing an install on my friends bike tomorrow and I would love to not have to flash it twice

Appreciate your help

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I found mine was very loose when I pulled my motor apart a long time ago, it’s fairly noisy now. I think they are just common skateboard bearings if I am not mistaken, they sell some good quality ceramic bearings at some of the better skateboard shops.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

...With that the weight of your bike is about 19-21 kg. Motor weight tsdz2 about 4 kg with rods. The GA 10S3P battery weighs 50 * 30 grams + wiring + screen + and BMS = ~ 2 kg. It turns out that your bike weighs 17.5 -4 -2 = 11.5 kg. Good two suspension! Carbon owners envy :) Dude you could be righ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Exactly Andy.. I like 14s but 14s2p is not enough and 14s3p would be way too heavy unless there are some better cells out there than the GA's ? 15s2p is tempting but will it blow the display ? And can you get a 15s bms to suit ? It really depends if you want a heavy commuter or playful jump bike.. I...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My reason for buying a 36v with 36v battery was to minimise weight. My dual suspension bike is only 17.5kg, my Trek Powerfly is more like 25kg and you can feel the difference. If you are running stock then the 48v motor has more power, my friend always rides in level 2 and to keep up I had to ride i...

Nah looks fine to me.. hmmm, other issues people have had is markings on their stlink was not the same as default but then you would get different errors, also not enough power on the USB port, maybe try another laptop ?

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If I'm going to get into the game of flashing firmwares, I guess I "should" do the "upgrade" to 52v (from 48v current). I'm currently building my own battery and it is incomplete, so the only loss I would take would be the price of a couple 13s BMS modules I already purchased. Is there any NEGATIVE...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I have a dual suspension bike, you may check out one of my videos from signature below. I dont use the side plate or the rear mount to secure the motor. I use a plastic washer under the big nut (I got this from my BB when I removed it), this helps to stop it from coming undone. I also use some rubbe...
