Re: TSDZ2 open source firmware only for KT-LCD3 (v0.19.0 / v.0.20.0beta1)

Hi Maximus its been a while but finally got a chance to test it.. My advice is to wait for the MrBrusa release for the KTLCD3 which is not too far away (any updates please ?) I have been riding with his beta version for a few weeks now and I can say that it is way better than anything else...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

...i got the one with a vlcd5 and 6 pin, hopefully that wasn't a mistake its only if you want to add a temperature sensor that the wiring can get a bit tricky but can be done. Let us know how you go. Make sure it is all working properly and then you can think of upgrading to the opensource firmware...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I just removed the pedals and tested in walk mode. It worked fine with the back wheel off the ground, it disintegrated in seconds as soon as the rear wheel was placed on the ground, way too much torque for PLA to handle with only minor resistance. Well done you are miles ahead of us !! If the part ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

We have peek and ULTEM too but I think nylon is best since it will give some before it fractures since it’s not as brittle

On the plus side I found bearing CSK30PP is the same sprag clutch but also has an external key way which we can use to lock into the plastic gear !!! :bigthumb:

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Wapous, not sure I understand Are you saying you may have the number of teeth wrong and the shape of the teeth may be incorrect and not sized properly ? You can download models from McMaster Carr https://www.mcmaster.com/spur-gears/component~gear/plastic-gears-and-gear-racks-20-pressure-angle/ If yo...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Peek/PEKK are super expensive as compare to Nylon and need much higher temperatures to print. Yes we do use it at work but only for special projects. I find it much more brittle than most plastics. I would prefer either PC-ABS or Nylon since they have a little bit of give in them. As for printing th...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Wapous, I have the straight cut teeth on my large gear, I was thinking whether we could make an outer gear ring in nylon and machine down the metal gear and drill and tap some holes so that we can screw on the nylon part. We have industrial 3D printers at work so I could print one. If you could d...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi ebikeman thanks for your thoughts I hear what you are saying and its unfortunate. I think the tsdz2 is the wrong motor choice if you want throttle and the fact that you were even considering throttle tells me that you probably run very high assist levels in which case you should have just bought ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Do you have anything on how the Bosch Gen 4 works (Bosch CX 2020) since this totally disconnects and gives zero drag, or the motor used in the specialised Levo SL ? Actually there are some pics here of the SL motor but hard to see whats going on https://flowmountainbike.com/tests/first-ride-2020-spe...

With sensorless brushless motors you just swap any 2 of the phase wires to reverse I’m guessing you would also need to swap the same 2 sensor wires

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Even though the belt will reduce the noise you are still pushing around the big gear and the smaller gear and relying on the freewheel on the nylon gear Im still looking at a way to run a standard crankset and maybe a centrigigul clutch with a freewheel to engage the cranks ? just throwing some idea...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

In turbo mode it's seems to be spinning faster which reduces the perception of a drag. Exactly, its very easy to feel in lower assist levels BTW thank you Wapous for the schematics.. It would be great to do a video/animation to get a better visualisation of how it works to see if there are any easy...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I made up a thin plastic spacer to move the chain wheel away from the plastic cover, the rubbing is due to the slop in the motor , despite not rubbing I feel there is a lot more we can do to improve the design and reduce mechanical drag. With the motor turned off it is impossible to ride any faster ...

Excessive Drag

Hi not sure if anyone has experienced this but it feels like internal drag in the motor. It has done in excess of 20K I gave it a clean and re-grease and the motor was very easy to peddle without any sound. I could ride at 30km/hr with 180-200w this lasted a few days and it was awesome as I could ri...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive with 860C, 850C or SW102 displays only -- Flexible OpenSource firmware (Casainho code only)

When I'm pedalling the assist drops for short period of time. It happens only when I apply bigger force on the pedals. It only happens if I pedal hard. If I pedal very lightly with a high assist level, the motor current is normal, it goes up to 16 Amp (software limit) and assist is normal. If I kee...

BTW the motor runs 10 times better now that its been serviced. Well worth the effort !!

Sorry guys I have been away from this forum for a little while. Still running buba v20b1 on the old dual suspension 26in Norco and thinking of maybe upgrading to a Giant Roam E+ Just because the norco and motor are getting a little tired and I think the giant will be more suitable for the road. Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

So stick with hub motors, whats the problem ? In my useage I would destroy a hub motor on probably the first ride, we do a lot of low speed climbing where the hub motor would be only rotating a few 10's of rpm at near full power, the heat generated would cook every bearing in it. If we used a geare...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Haven't had to repair the bosch motor yet knock.on wood and out of warranty but I know there is a bearing kit you can buy for it that I'm sure is way overpriced:) agree tsdz2 is easy to work on, I'm sure bosch will not be any different and there are videos out there to help if the need arises.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If you run your motor at a higher voltage the it will run up to 120rpm. I have done a video on this. With Casainhos latest firmware the motor will continue to increase power at higher cadence. Agree that the stock firmware is only meant for commuting and not for off-road or racing but that suits mos...

Re: Tsdz2 firmware open source adapted to vlcd5, vlcd6 and xh18

Ok, I'll lower the battery power and see if that helps. I had taken off the "Experimental high cadence" mode and saw no difference in consumption. I'd say the Tour mode is a little below what Turbo was on the stock firmware. I saw no difference that I could tell between Tour and Speed, bu...
