Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Yes I think Wayne also mentioned EXPO as you have shown on the graphs above..

The user could set levels 1 to 5 as normal for their riding style and eMTB mode could be level 6 which interpolates between levels 2 and 5 in an exponential curve.

This should be easy to implement.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I have the Trek Powerfly with Bosch eMTB mode. I always use it by default. For off road mountain biking it is so good I never have to change modes. It will help me when I go up steep hills and back off when I am just cruising. It seems to work out how much assist to give by what speed and how much p...

Re: E-S LMX 64 Bike Owners

Is it possible to move the red rollers further apart so that the angle of the chain is reduced. This may help ?

Possibly even using 2 off toothed chain tensioners instead of hard rollers..

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

what exactly is high cadence mode changing technically? I use a 48V motor, switched it on, but I do not feel much difference. How does it work? Does it affect the efficiency ? Why does the menu warn this might harm the motor ? Why does the menu state the mode might not have any effect on 48V motors...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Just some testing on the inverse ramp factor to reduce lag Hello, I'm new to this forum. I just installed and flushed Kt-lcd3 with my TSDZ2. I also experience this lag which you have mentioned before and would love to fix if but I don't now how. I already checked WiKi and watched your video about i...

Re: Right side crank play and/or slipping problem

From what I gathered it's sprag clutch bearing issue. Main problem is that this bearing is also the one handling all the force applied by foot and motor. Replacement comes in form of main gear and bearing already fitted. According to the info I gathered, after the blue gear failure, this is second ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi, during Easter Holyday I was using my bike with engine swiched to 0 for several kilometers over one week. For going into the Hills around Garda I used the support of course, but for the rides along the lake I was riding very well with 0 support. In my opinion, the efect of a poor adjusted disc b...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Apparently the Brose motor used on the Specialised Levo has no drag when the motor is turned off https://electrek.co/2018/07/05/shimano-and-brose-mid-drive-motors/ I wonder if there is something we can recommend for the next version of the tsdz2. So I was running very low on power the other day on t...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

hi, I finally ordered a 36V TSDZ2 and it should arrive later this week or early next week. The battery however will arrive later. Can I still install the motor and ride without a battery with the motor off? Or will this damage the motor? Or will the motor create too much friction? thanks Too much f...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

If you are looking at spending $3K then you wouldn't use a TSDZ2 motor. Go for one of the Giant bikes. Someone at my work bought one for $2800 + $250 for a chip and he does 50km/hr. I don't agree with him speeding but just saying you will be getting an awesome bike built for purpose with a motor tha...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I know there is an enhancement request in github for this. If the devs have some idea how to enhance this, I will help with beta testing. you could increase the advance angle at high speeds for field weakening by using an exponential function. But I don't know, if the calculation can be done in rea...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

So, motor is absorbing only 6 amps instead of the 18 amps you would like to, but that is a limitation of the BLDC motors, they say they has max torque at startup and it reduces to 0 at motor max speed. Ok so by increasing erps we can get more power near the high end. So we have done some very basic...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Eyebyecickle That's what happens when you hit the max cadence. When you use the high cadence mods it's actually really smooth and powerful at 90+ rpm but as mentioned above the power can start dropping off a little which I can't explain.

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I managed to do some good testing of 0.18.2 in the past 3 weeks. A strange thing that I noticed is that in some cases even if the human power increases, the motor power in W drops. This happens at higher speeds. Also if I use assist of 0.6 and assist of 4 it is almost same difficulty to pass 42-43 ...

Re: LMX 64 : Freeride Ebike with dual drive and torque sensor

I was thinking along the same line, with PAS only you would surely smash into something, but was wondering if you could do Torque assist only, no throttle or brake cutouts just to reduce wiring and make it look more inconspicuous..

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Since I remember, there is a protection on firmware to stop assist if wheel speed is 0. I must check, the important is to make system robust to failures or inexistent sensors. Hi Casainho it was me that had this problem way back and had to peddle in most of the way to work without any assistance. A...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Regarding the sprag clutch...I know someone who has done it with a hammer but you can easily cause damage. My brother is a motor mechanic and he has a hydraulic press, it's just a car Jack mounted in a steel frame. We used a piece of steel tubing and pressed it out slowly. It was easy to do but if y...

Hi jbalat The temperature sensor should work, because it is managed directly by the casainho firmware, of course is not showed on VLCD6 display. :) :) :) Cool !! Hey I saw a picture of a fan inside the motor housing. What if we we could also initiate the fan above 75 degrees so that the motor start...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

Hi Marco, I think some users would be willing to try your version because they don't need to change the display. However if there were some app to change the settings then that would make it more user friendly. I think the 2 versions can co-exist since some people want to see the data on the screen ...

Im assuming these changes would work well for a 48V motor with a 52V battery? Why don't you test it and let us know ? It turns out the hailong 48V 10AH battery I bought to save a few $$(and grams) is a POS. After 10 or so rides the BMS shuts off at 43V and closer inspection shows that one of the pa...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I just installed version 16 on my friends bike and he wanted a high cadence version like mine. His motor is 48v, so this version below will work on both motor types He tested it for a minute or so and was quite happy. All I did was changed increased the motor speed cutoff limit and multiplied the n...
