Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Ok, good info. Have no idea what that is hahaha. Like I mentioned, Battery and electrics are not my area. I do frame design in Cad. I really like the Sur-ron's architecture, ie, batteries slide in from top, top cap closing on battery to tighten them down, belt reduction @ swing arm pivot, perimeter...

I agree with you. I doubt its coming from Japan and you make a valid point on the holiday excuse! On another note, there is now an electric dirt bike on EBay also the Kolter Es1 https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/014AAOSwLXFcXawY/s-l1600.jpg link?? didn't turn up in my search.. Edit : found it, $4.5K.....

Re: SURRON LB: RESEARCH & DEVELOPEMENT

Any suggestions on high power motors? maybe in the 10-15KW range? I wouldn't worry about that until you cook the stock motor. From what I've seen, 10kW should be no problem. Anything to improve the air flow around the motor will help a lot. but OP is not asking about a larger motor for surron, but ...

Re: EBike Tire Speed Rating

I understand this but, I still don't get where the 25 kph "limit" on these speed rated "e bike" tires comes in to play. It seems like it's just a number they threw on there. It is, somewhat. It's more a "nominal" speed rating, as its obvious that 25kph on a 20" tire has more rpms than a 29er at 25k...

Re: EBike Tire Speed Rating

Yeah but DOT approval actually means something. don't think they give out those speed rating certifications without testing to show production meets those standards, whatever they may be.. ebikes are generally heavier with higher average and sustained speeds than an hpv pedal bike, so it ...

Re: EBike Tire Speed Rating

I'm convinced 'ebike rated' is just marketing until further notice. 25km/h or 15.5 is what regular bike tires are designed to do on average. 40kmh or what.. 25mph? is what regular bike tires can handle all day long as well.. So many people here have builds that go much faster than that on bike tire...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I’d like to thank you guys for the replies. 1st. regen to increase battery life is not a big factor to me. I was more interested in the (braking) aspect to make it feel more like engine braking on an ICE bike. 2nd. So should I try to return the x to Luna (if that’s even possible) and wait for an af...

Hey all, new guy here. I will introduce myself when time permits but I have quick question I’m hoping someone can help me with. I was able to get my hands on a Sur-Ron around Christmas time (2018). I saw all these great reviews about the X-controller so when they were in stock again at Luna I purch...

you can fit a (vintage) 20" motorcycle tire on a (wide) 24" bicycle rim, since they have the same tire bead seat diameter (motorcycle and bicycle tires are measured differently)..

Got my sur ron x version last month from luna cycles. I have a little over 100 miles on it. Only mods I have done is removing the brake safety switches and kickstand switch. I also instslled a direct mount stem. Im really happy with the sur ron over all but it needs more power for sure. What are my...

Very nice looking set up Litespeed. I owe the a lot of the excellent handling characteristics to your research on the tires. The Shinko 241’s are the shit! Appreciate you doing that for the rest of us. Thanks for the kind words. I’ll tell you a 14KW bike that weighs in at 125 lbs with all that squi...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

No luck with the rear fender  , the fender failed on its first ride. It wasn't my bracket, it was the aluminum bracket on the fender that slowly cracked. Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

Should I even consider wider tyre than 3'' for 18'' 1.6'' rim? Is 3/3.25/3.5 too heavy for qs 205 3kw 9kv hub? Mitas H03 2.75'' width is actually 76mm on 1.6'' rim and looks like toy. I don't like how 2.75'' (76mm) looks and feels on 18'' rim. Which of bellow tyres are not overkill for such big rim...

Thanks I never heard of using teflon tape but I'll look into it.
blue thread lock is available as tape but most ppl are more familiar with the liquid variety..

Re: Optibike carbon fiber R15C

Well, I said 20% heavier considering battery capacity. As sold with 700 w/h battery, the Turbo Levo is 30% lighter, and that is a major difference for pedelec riders who are paying that much for a bike. Then, about motorization, we all know that BB drives MTB have a pretty busy maintenance schedule...
